Food here is great but I had to remove 2 stars because the man I spoke to when I placed more order was extremely rude. I wasn't familiar with the sizes of pizza they offered so I had a couple of questions and he made it sound like I was conducting the Spanish inquisition. I just wanted to know the sizes they offered so I didn't under order! It loves such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't think I'll ever call there to order a pizza again. I have frequented Mainline Pizza for the past 15 years. Me and my 3 works friends usually go once a week and find their pizza average and just get a few slices. Today, Sunday, we went to eat at the restaurant across the street from Mainline. That establishment is trying to stay open during Covid and has put outdoor seating in their parking lot. Because there is limited parking we parked across the street at Mainline. Mainline is CLOSED on Sundays so we figured it would not be a big deal but we received a threat of getting our car towed on our windshield. I'm not sure if YELP will post this review or not but I think they should because it speaks to the character and community feel of this establishment. We try to support all places in town especially during Covid because they ask us to support our small businesses. We'll Mainline Pizza just lost our support. I find this notice extremely petty considering their pizza place wasn't even open at the time I parked there. Any place that threatens to TOW MY CAR is a place that I will NEVER eat at again. You lost my business and I will now eat at all the other 10 pizza places that are in the area that you compete with. read more

I've been a pizza semi-snob in this general area for a while and thought I would finally give Mainline a try. This is a deli-sized 2-man operation that's been in business for 40 years so I had to see what was what. My go-to's are Pizza Terminal (Verona), Dough (Wayne) and Gino's (Belleville). Montclair pizza is a chapter for another day. First off, there's not a gazillion employees behind the counter like Forte's or Rusillo's or Pizza One. This is not a restaurant, it's a pickup spot. It took me 5 busy phone calls to get through bc on Mon/Tue they have a $12 plain pie special, so it's a beehive. There's plenty of parking. The guys were nice to deal with, no attitude and no-frills. It's not knock your socks off amazeballs pizza but it's better than your typical chain-franchise delivery. It's standard, but solid. I would rate pie Quality about 3.75 stars, but I give them 4 bc they can keep costs down after 40 years and still hold fort, so they know their biz. Hats off to that. When I got home, I sautéed some mushrooms and roasted jalapeños for my toppings, reheated my slices in a Breville and drizzled some Truffle hot sauce - now we're talking. Does it reheat well? Kinda - I wasn't disappointed. For $12 you can't beat it. Can't speak to their toppings or sandwiches as of yet but go & see what you think. read more

Crispy pizza, cooked well done. Cheese and sauce lacked flavor. There was no option to add salt to my slice while at the counter so as is, overall it was a well cooked average edible NJ slice. The pizza won't offend most ppl as most NJ pizza is gloppy undercooked doughy and horrible. I wouldn't travel here for a slice but if I were going to Rita's Ice down the road from here and starving I would grab a slice provided there was a salt shaker lying around. read more

I just recently moved into the area and found Mainline Pizza simply by driving by. Stopped in grabbed a cold sub and what can I say, except, to the say the staff is attentive and the food delicious. Terrific sub sandwiches, prepared well and their bread is amazing. Great job to the owner and staff, it is a great place for take out for sure. Been going to Mainline since I was a child. The place hasn't changed much in the years from a physical standpoint, but the pizza has. The inside of this place is extremely basic and I wouldn't recommend eating inside. It's pretty much takeout only, with the exception of 3-4 tables inside. If you prefer pizza that has more sauce than cheese, this is your place. The pizza isn't very cheesy. It is very standard in taste. Not above average, but not half bad either. They have specials on Monday-Tuesday where plain pizzas are 9.99. Sandwiches are also discounted. It does get very busy here pretty much everyday of the week, as this seems to be a favorite among locals. The wait for pizza can sometimes be upwards of 30-45 minutes. I stopped in here one Tuesday evening to take advantage of their $9.99 large plain cheese pizza deal. I called ahead to order and they told me the pizza would be 20-25 minutes, so I did a few other things in the meantime. I also told them I'd like my pizza well done. When I arrived, the gentlemen behind the counter were very friendly and the one guy showed me my pizza before putting it in the box so I could see if it was well done enough. The pizza was cooked perfectly and was piping hot. My boyfriend and I both had a couple of slices each and we enjoyed it. This is the best quick pick up pizza in town! Classic pizza made fresh to order with great topping selection and yummy sauce. I'm also really picky about my cheese, often finding it too thick or greasy and their's was just right! Their prices are cheap and they have drinks to pick up too (do you know how rare it is to find cherry pepsi?!). One of my coworkers turned me onto this place last year and we haven't stopped going since so let me put you guys onto one of favorite places to eat lunch. We went drove past this place for years and never stopped in until one of coworkers kept raving about it and eating it constantly so we finally all went to grab lunch. First time we went we quickly realized they had specials on Monday and Tuesday's that you really can't beat...6$ 12" subs and a lot of variety or a large pie for 10$ so I tried the chicken parm, huge sandwich for 6$! I got this a few times then started branching out and tried a slice and a meatball parm, also good. Now things are getting interesting so I normally don't try cheesesteaks from random places because I'm usually let down as they not "philly" at all or skimpy or well..just not good..I was surprised, not only was the cheesesteak great but a good size too, no complaints also tried their fries with it, perfect. All the food and owner is great. I will warn you it does get super crowded at lunch and seating is very limited, it's a shoebox inside..I recommend take out or if you're eating in try it weds-sat to have a better chance at a seat! read more

the pizza is average. go to sunray; much better pizza. the marsala sauce is great. i find their marinara sauce to be slightly acidic at times. a hit or miss. i would rather have them be a hit all the time. not consistent but good luck. read more
