I have been going here for a few years now and as we ALL know it is aways hard to find a good Dr in any specialty. It's hard to find someone who understands your needs, isn't only concerned about the money, and most importantly someone you can trust. Steve the manager has been of great help! He is incredibly patient with me as he taught me how to put in contact for the first time. I was really nervous and scared to have him to the first few tries for me but it paid off. I was comfortable and trusted him enough to touch my eye balls! He washed his hands many times and was very clean and professional about it. As he went over my insurance with me he went over many options on how to maximize my benefits. We went through different scenarios on what would be best. I am pretty indecisive so trust me when I say, this took time and patients on his end. I got my glasses right away and they called me a few days later to pick up my contacts. I apologize but I do not remember the Dr's name. It was a female and she was very sweet. She listened to my concerns, answered all my questions, and changed my prescription for the better!! I am so much happier now that I know I am wearing the proper correction strengths. They have a great selection of different brands and eyewear as well. First time patient I visited this place today and had the best experience. I was greeted by the staff and was immediately taken to my appointment even though I was about 15 minutes early. Everyone was friendly and professional. The doctor really took the time to ensure my prescription was perfect and explained to Me all about my eye health and showed me the pictures of inside my eye. After my exam, Steven helped me find frames that looked good on me and helped determine the cost with my insurance. Buyer beware!!!!!!! My wife and I have patronized this location for the past couple of years, which was recommended by our insurance company, VSP. At first, they seemed very professional as we utilized their Optometrist and Optical Department for the purchase of Designer frames and lenses. After my initial purchase, I noticed the coating on my Designer frames had chipped. I immediately returned the glasses and their female associate accused me of dropping them on the ground. I spent over $500 out of pocket and my insurance company paid over an additional $500 for these frames and lenses. I have been wearing glasses for over 50-years and I'm Meticulous on the care of my eye wear. Reluctantly, their male associate agreed to swap these frames out for another similar frame with new lenses. Initially, their female associate talked me into purchasing "Up-Graded" lenses with all the "Bells & Whistles" for an added expense. Recently, I noticed both corners on my lenses were developing "Clear" spots as though the coating was peeling away from the lenses. This occurred right after spending 17-days in the hospital from developing an extremely dangerous condition. My wife and I returned to this establishment and the RUDE female associate sitting behind the counter replied, "Do you have an appointment". This remark caught me by surprise as all the associates know us both from our previous appointments and purchases. I stated the lenses on my glasses were defective. I handed her my glasses and she immediately accused me of dropping them on the ground. Apparently, this is a "Common" phase used by their associates when you point out any defects in their products. I informed this associate I "Did Not" drop the glasses and she replied, "Well, maybe it's because it's too HOT outside." I replied I just spent the last 17-days in the hospital. She said she would send my glasses to their laboratory for examination/repair. Approximately two days later, I received a telephone call from their male associate who informed me their Lab would not warranty the lenses as my "Two Year Warranty" expired by "Two Months." He continued by saying the lenses could be replaced at a price of $400.00. I asked for an explanation causing the defects and he replied, "The lab didn't give me one." I declined this Ridiculous offer. I called my insurance company, VSP, and they advised since the warranty expired, nothing could be done. As I stated previously, my wife and I have each purchased glasses, frames and all the "Bells & Whistles" available for "Designer eye wear, spending thousands of dollars (with insurance coverage). This establishment showed absolutely No evidence of Quality Customer Care in preserving a professional relationship with Repeat customers or even a Discount on replacement lenses. The response, "The Lab didn't give me one" on the cause of the defect simply states, "They Don't Care." read more

Dr. So saved my life! If it wasn't for his thorough exam I wouldn't be sitting here writing a review, I would have been dead. He diagnosed me with a condition and recommended an MRI to be done. The MRI results showed that I had a brain tumor and 2 weeks later I had a large mass removed from my brain. What a lot of us don't know is that our brain is the main optic nerve that controls our vision and it was Dr. So that saw something unusual. Thank you Dr. So! I've been loyal to him for over 7 years and will continue to ONLY go to him. I've been to other optometrist before Dr. So and they spend 10 minutes top on my eye exam. The entire staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. They helped me with some pricing as I do not have vision coverage. They may not be the least expensive, but my bifocals are made of the best material. I've gone to many eyeglass places and am usually fighting to see with the new pair. Not here. I've worn glasses since 7th grade and of all the eye doctors I've seen, Dr. So is the best ophthalmologist ever!!! He really cares about your eye health giving very thorough "TRUE eye exams not like the ASIAN way of practice" which he demonstrated and explained to me the tests and procedures that pin pointed my visual ailments and shed some light on decades of the halfa$$ service provided by my other former ASIAN optometrists who unnecessarily increased my RX power by 100 at every visit and focused on selling me designer frames and lens add-ons. In my initial visit, Dr. So found that I am at risk for cataracts, I have signs of papules due to excess protein build-up from extended wear contacts, and the vision power is not as high as my previous prescribed Rxs. I was so appalled that I had the wool pulled over my eyes for so long but, very thankful now that I can see clearly after a visit to Dr. So giving the correct prescribed power and a switch to daily wear contacts. The friendly and helpful staff here at Main Place Optometry aren't there to push frame sales. They help you figure out the best options and calculate which service would be most beneficial to apply your insurance coverage toward. Great optometrist and convenient location - inside Main Place mall in Santa Ana. I go get my eyes checked and then I go do some shopping. Dr. So is friendly and gets straight to the point. Very efficient and doesn't make you wait forever like other places. He gave very helpful advice on how to take care of my contacts and my eye allergy. He made sure to examine and explain everything thoroughly. My new contacts fit perfectly and I don't have to make repeat visits to keep getting things adjusted like past experiences with other optometrists. Prices on glasses are very reasonable as well. I gotta give this place five stars. I've been coming here for about four or five years now and I've never had any issues. The only thing I can complain about is that the hours are a bit weird because it's located in the mall. On a whim I decided to call up Main Place Optometry after seeing them listed first in the VSP directory - wasn't sure how soon they could see me. Turns out they were able to squeeze me in that night! Talk about customer service!!! It was odd to have an optometry business in the mall, but once I stepped in I didn't even notice that I was in a mall. The staff was wonderful - tending to every need I had. The eyedoctor (whose name I didn't catch) was great! She told me that my prescription was actually too strong and dialed it back a bit - perfect solution to my headaches and blurred vision that I have been experiencing. Their selection of glasses are great - and affordable too. I'm recommending this place to EVERYONE I know because it's awesome. I went in to try to get some glasses that I bought somewhere else to see if i can get prescription lenses for them. This lady in the front office name Jessica was really rude and non helpful at all. I asked her and she wanted to charge me for the lenses $432. For lenses? That is ridiculous. For a person thats purchased 2 glasses there this year and they werent even close to that amount and these are jus for lenses. They told me earlier that they can give me a deal to just bring in the frames and I can just bring them in to get them prescribed. Wow i was really hurt and bumbed and especially bothered by the rude service that they gave me. I always looked forward going there and now that I got rude service doesnt even make you wanna go back anymore. I'd advise people the same thing the bad service i got most likely you will get from her as well so please be aware because it gave you an empty feeling when you left which you will probably get from her. I don't know why my experience here seems to be so different than everyone else's but unfortunately it was- maybe because it's a Monday afternoon. This review is not for Dr. So the person, (I only came in to get a pair of glasses) but whoever was working the store that day. I didn't catch her name but I don't think she could seem to care less about my business if she tried. I came all the way from Dr. So's office in Upland too, which I told the lady, but that didn't make a difference. I came in to look at their Jimmy Choo frames specifically, since I'd seen a few cute ones and heard they were good for smaller faces, and the lady pointed to the few they had in the case. After I tried one on I asked for her help in looking for other similar styles she told me that the look I was going for was almost impossible to find in the width I needed- even though the lady in their Upland location was able to find me a few pairs that I liked right away. She then proceeded to look through the case pulling out every pair that was a 51 width, without commenting at all on any of the ones I tried. Not a single nice thing to say or suggestion on any of them- if I'm expected to pay a few hundred dollars for a pair of glasses you should at least make me feel good about my choices!! That's what really gets me. I work sales, you can't just expect someone to make a big purchase like that without a little (hopefully) genuine enthusiasm. Glasses are something you wear everyday too, and I wanted to feel confident about them before I made a purchase. Needless to say they did not get my business, as much as I wanted to give it to them, even after driving 25 miles to get there. read more

But the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
