I started coming here about 2 years ago and they are now my fav place for breakfast because of course you can get drinks such as bloody marys or mimosas. Love the champagne bottle with a side of OJ on Sunday morning with my wife for fifteen bucks. The food has been consistent and great. My favs are the biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage, the various eggs benedicts and the mexican dishes. I like how they're open early even on the weekends. Love the laid back, local country vibe here. Full bar with great selection with things like Johnny Walker Blue label and Don Julio 1942. They aren't messin' around here. Service has always been good. My fiancé and I went last weekend to see our friends' band and were planning to get a bite and some drinks. We sat in the back bar area. Our drink order was taken right away and it only took a few minutes to get them. However, once we put in our food order, a chili burger and calamari appetizer, we waited more than 20 minutes to get our food. The calamari-cold and undercooked. The chili burger-raw in the middle. Our waitress never came back to see how our food was or to refill drinks. My fiancé finally went to the bartender who took the plates. 10 more minutes go by before our waitress came to our table. The place was not crowded, btw. We were not charged for the calamari. Our friend, allergic to shrimp, ordered chicken fingers & fries. She and her husband said the fries tasted weird. Within a few minutes, she was throwing up. She had to go home and got sick again. Cross contamination anyone? The fries were probably cooked in the same oil as some shellfish. My fiancé started feeling sick after his burger, also. Also, on a smaller note, the 'dance floor' is just painted concrete. We tried to dance but had to stop. Shoes wouldn't slide on the floor and our knees and ankles would have payed the price or gotten injured. I went in for lunch to see if I'd like it especially for a Happy Hour experience. It wasn't very busy, but I could see there were several regulars there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I decided on the burger with bacon and an egg on top. This was a very good burger and the side of tots made the meal even better. I looked through the menu and the HH specials. Went on a weekday (late afternoon) for drinks only. My server actually sat down with me and took time to go over their beer selection, telling me about her favorites. The service was excellent. Although I didn't order food, I did check out the menu. Large, diner style menu. Lots of options. Big breakfast section. The food that I saw come out looked good. Most of the restaurant was filled with elderly people who seemed to be regulars. A few young families. Different seating options (booths, tables, bar). Lots of ample seating and allows dogs on the patio. They patio had 3-4 dogs when my dog and were visiting. They have dog bowls and give out waters to all the pups. They have what you would expect for bar food. Expect a lots of deep friend foods. Not very good at accommodating healthy eaters. One of my group asked for a lot oof substitutions. It took forever for him to get his meal and the poor waiter had to come back and forth at least twice to let him know they don't do quinoa or brown rice. My husband and I discovered Tequila Fuentes when we took a friend to breakfast at Mainstream Bar and Grill and investigated the backside of the restaurant. We found a Mexican section with a nice bar and what looked like a good menu but we were disappointed that there was so little signage. We returned a few days later and sat at the bar and had dinner. The food was good and our bartender, Danielle, makes an excellent margarita. We would like to see this restaurant become more noticeable and have a door of its own into this section of the building. We enjoyed our evening there and hope that the operation doesn't fold because no one knows about it. read more

We love this place. Specially on sundays. They have bottomless mimosas for $5 with and entree. From 7am-2pm! Pretty good deal. The food is really good. Service is friendly. We love sitting at the bar and hanging out with molly and Kinger (bartenders). Super friendly and they always remember people and their particular usual orders. The ambiance can get a little sketchy at times with the crowd (specially during football season), but we keep to ourselves and are not bothered. read more

This review is regarding the "dance club". A friend and I went on Friday night to dance and hear a country band as a few friends had mentioned this as a new dance place. We didn't eat or try the food, so I cannot comment on that. It was a pretty big let down as far as being a dance club. It is a good sized room, however it is full of tables for dinning which doesn't lend well for mingling and meeting people. You feel like you have to be seated or you are in the way. Luckily, it isn't crowded so getting a seat is pretty easy. It has zero decor or ambiance. Just a room with tables and small stage for the band. Zero lighting, nothing on the walls, terrible acoustics, very dark dance area...too dark. The first thing you will notice is the average age of the patrons is 60. The "dance floor" is cement which is really hard to dance on and is very hard on the feet and knees. God help anyone who falls! The band was mediocre at best. The drinks are very tiny and pricey for the size. The staff was friendly and working hard. The thing that will keep me away from this place besides the listed above issues is the bathrooms. Before leaving, I went in the ladies room in the club (which is one stall) and there was "water" all around the toilet. I decided to try the bathroom in the restaurant and there was even more water (about an inch) all around both toilets. I had on new $300 boots and was not about to stand in "water" around a toilet. So be prepared to not have to pee unless you don't care about your shoes or boots. While we were there the band, who we could barely understand, said this place was going to be the best country place in San Diego. Well, it has a LOOOOOOONG way to go to even compete. read more

I've been here several times for breakfast / brunch and have always enjoyed the food and the service. The AM crew (Wendy and another blonde gal...forgot her name...are fantastic) is the only reason this is a 3-star review and not one. Decided to check out open mic night (Sunday from 5-8 pm) and the experience was like being in a different restaurant! Our server was SO UNFRIENDLY and it seemed that our being there was a major disruption to her evening. We felt like uninvited guests. She basically ignored us the entire time we were there. I would have liked to order more (to add drinks and dessert) but she never came back to check on us. In fact, when we asked for a side of ranch she just didn't bring it. I had to walk up to get it from the kitchen. Oh, and part of the chicken in my son's nuggets plate was raw. But our server never knew because she never came by to ask how we were enjoying (or not enjoying) the food. Rest assured, I'll let them know if my son gets sick from eating most of the raw meat before noticing it was uncooked. I was totally bummed about our experience. Unfortunately, I won't be recommending Mainstream anymore. I can't risk my friends running into that horrible server (or unsafe, uncooked food). :( read more

Ordered the fried zucchini and fish and chips...it was aight. The fries were good and crispy, but the zucchini and fish were bland. It was a delivery order and they didn't include any vinegar, tartar sauce, or anything to dip the zucchini. My second experience at Mainstream today. Had beer and appetizer a couple years ago and I was completely underwhelmed. Sad food, slow service. This time, ordered chilaquiles but was served the juevos rancheros and the food was COLD. I notified the server who went back to the kitchen and came back out and told me "that IS the chilaquiles". She offered to take the food back and bring a new plate but that is so annoying when everyone else is eating, so I declined her offer. It's a shame because the eggs were tasty but the beans came from a can and in their unheated state were even worse. The "mimosas" consisted of one small glass of OJ for the table and a bottle of champagne. They didn't come out together but when the glasses were brought, they were dripping wet. Gross. I'm so sorry about this because Poway has so few choices for sit down meals. Eat at the Hop Stop instead. read more

Terrible food, terrible service! It's your one stop shop for terrible! My husbands lobster was literally bad. So bad, that the woman who brought our food (NOT our waitress, as she never came back to check on us(, could smell the ammonia scent as she walked by. My blue cheese dressing was separated mayo, we were charged for the wrong meals, and no discount for the lobster that my husband is hoping didn't give him food poisoning with that one spit out bite. I've had a mixed bag on service here, sometimes good but the last two times slow. But the worst part has been the food at breakfast time. The last two times we've gone, the last being the worst.... Poached eggs were cooked through, burnt French toast, burnt pancakes, black potatoes in the breakfast potatoes. It's really disappointing. Also food takes too long to come out. Get a new cook. For the last several weeks, we and about 8 other people have gone to Maintstream on Monday nights for $ 1.00 fish taco's. They are very good however, each time we go, the orders are wrong, mixed and the service is bad. I decided not to go anymore on Mondays but decided to try there steak and lobster specials on Tuesday night(s). I invited another couple this past Tuesday and the food was ok but the noise from the back new room was so loud you could not hold a conversation sitting across from one another. The new room is used for games and dancing. Games were played this past Tuesday and we were so frustrated, we did not finish our meals and just walked out. Even though the dinner was a special by the time my wife and I had two beers, I spent over $ 50.00 I can go to other places for that money and be able to talk and relax. Me and a friend went to MB&G for the first time and immediately got the sense the clientele were mainly locals. Two guys sitting at the end of the bar ordering doubles & shots at 2:00 PM. The one drunk was speaking rudely to the bar tender thinking he was funny based upon his laughter & playing horrible (HORRIBLE) music over the bars sound system from his phone. The other one kept hitting on the bar tender even tho it was apparent she didn't have any interest whatsoever. All the staff called the two drunks by name so they had to be regulars. The beers were cold, my burger was good, the fries not so good and the service was great, although I felt bad for the bar tender due the music man & his weird sidekick. My friend had a salad and said she would order it again, if we were to go back. My advice, if you are going to eat at MB&G, do so when Johnny and Christian are not at the bar... She was extremely loud and obnoxious. We couldn't even here ourselves think. I really don't know why this place has the bad reviews it does. I love a place where the service is exceptional. We've lived in Poway for a few years now and just started going to this establishment. We took my very picky mother in law and she loved it. So my husband and I went back two other times since and the food was excellent each time. I don't know if they got a new cook since the previous bad reviews, but it's nice to go somewhere and be able to eat dinner and listen to the live music going on in the next room, yet not be around the crowded "bar scene" when you bring small kids. I was waiting for a rude server, the three time we've gone, we've had three different servers. Each one of them seemed to really enjoy the customers, their jobs and just treat us like we'd been coming there for years. It was so refreshing and nice. They weren't annoyed by my little ones constant questions and comments, they were just very nice. I loved it and we found our little spot we will now frequent. :) read more

We've done trivia here since it started in January and glad to have Kyle from Live Prize Trivia back at a Poway location. Okay, this may be harsh but it is intended to be constructive. I realize this place is brand new. There are kinks to be worked out. If this were not a new place I would not visit again. Since it is new, maybe another chance, but not until it is worked into our restaurant rotation. Positives: The staff was great. Our server, Heidi, was attentive, helpful and smiled lots. She could work anywhere. The fried pickle ... excellent! The beer batter breading had great flavor. The jalapeno jam ... awesome. Just a tad sweet. I make my own jalapeno jelly at home so I consider myself aware of what is good. The vegetables on my plate. Good flavor, tender. But when will restaurants get rid of the old squash side dish? Neutral: the décor. Okay, maybe they aren't finished decorating yet. But really ... get something on the walls. The atmosphere sucks. Menu choices -- I thought there was good variety, and some creativity. Constructive criticism: Salt and Pepper! There wasn't any on the table. Okay, maybe it is some theory on "clean" tables. But, geez guys ... bring it out with the food. I had to ask for it when my food was delivered. I later watched another table ... they had the same issue. By the time I get some salt and pepper, my food is longer hot. I won't blame Heidi ... this is a management issue. POOR TRAINING! Don't be so cheap! I had a baked potato. The potato was cooked well and a large size. But why are you so damn afraid to put sour cream and butter on it? I swear, it had a bit of chive, a dollop of sour cream and one "tab" of oleomargarine. And yes ... I mean margarine. So, I asked for more of each. The little individual serving they brought me still wasn't enough. I showed Heidi ... you could see the bottom of the serving dish they were so afraid they might give me some sour cream. I mean really, two tablespoons of each is all you can give? And give me BUTTER! I spent $50 and you can't give me some butter? Cheap ass! It was margarine. I ordered Prime Rib, medium. They brought it to me .. having sliced it , then they cooked it on the flat top. And then they cooked it to well done, not medium. I did not send it back, I am loathe to do that. I did mention it later to Heidi. Honestly, it was Friday night, May 31. So we woke up kinda of hung over and was looking for an awesome breakfast place to eat. Unfortunately every place in San Diego that is any good always has an hour wait. So we took a chance on this place and were pleasantly surprised. We are hoping this place doesn't catch on anytime soon because this place is just as good if not better than any other place in the Poway area that has wait times Food: We ordered the eggs and meatloaf, biscuits and gravy, and a omelette. All were really delicious and everything came with shredded hash browns. This places's food was definitely a lot better than the pancake house down the street and mainstream didn't even have a wait. They also had $3.50 bottomless mimosas. And the staff did a kick ass job keeping them filled. Ambiance: This place is an very nice sports bar. It has nice big screen TVs everywhere. There is a lot of booth seating and a huge bar. Also there is a nice patio to sit out that is dog friendly. All in all this place is very new and clean that is nicer than any breakfast place within the 10 mile radius. read more
