    Bar area.

Waitresses are on their game. I come for breakfast. Good place to watch your game of choice. Lots of TVs in the bar area. Have plenty of sit down booths and tables away from the bar. Good for families and TVs are scattered throughout the restaurant area. Biscuits and gravy is tasty and the portion is large. Get 2 for $11 and take one home for tomorrow. Full bar available. Opens daily at 7am. Spicy Bloody Mary is on point. I have read other reviews saying the food is bland. I disagree - this is standard breakfast fare that will appeal to any palate. All the condiments to spice it up are right there for you to do you. Plenty of parking. Hike Poway and then come here.

My girlfriend and I wanted to check out a sports in the Poway area since we were up north and a football game was on. I would love to come back, but it is a far drive for me. The quesadilla was crazy good and probably had the best pico de gallo. It had a kick which made everything so good. The crab cakes were not bad but not anything special. I would have given this place a 5 star, but the bartender seemed to be doing the work of 2 bartenders. So very great job from him but seemed understaffed.

What a nice little restaurant. Nothing jaw dropping but good food and kind waitresses. This is in the parking lot of the strip mall. This Saturday early afternoon it seat yourself and we grabbed a booth. Quickly we're given waters and our menus. Waitress took a bit to come by to get our order but seemed like she was in charge of all the tables on our side of the restaurant. I got the mainstream breakfast over easy eggs sausage links hash browns and a side pancake. She got biscuits and gravy with o Brien potatoes. Food didn't take too long to make and it was good! Food is a little more bland than other breakfast spots I have been to, but that is fine since I can season to my liking and others may not be a fan or overly seasoned food. Everything was cooked perfectly and their butter was soft and delightful on my pancake. When we got our bill she did accidentally comp the biscuit meal which turned out to be an accident. We asked her to make the correction to include it because that's only right and it came out under 30$ which is not bad at all as we recently tried a burger place and it was $35 for two burger meals. Not bad spot I'd love to come and try their lunch and dinner menus

Delivery corned beef. Not like what I see served in house.

This is what they send you when you order corned beef hash. I can't make this up. There are lots of actually good to great places to eat nearby. No reason whatsoever to roll the dice here at all. I forgot to mention the homeless guy that smells like pee so much they open all the doors and windows dispite how cold it is outside. Yes, everyone gets so cold they don their jackets. Always fun to eat on a heavy jacket. Inside.

I hosted an event for my MeetUp's Fun Diego Ladies group. We came here last Saturday for The Groove's 80s Dance Party and had an incredible time! The band was excellent and was very fun and engaging! When the band took their breaks, we played pool. There were 2 pool tables nicely spaced apart and we had a great time! The venue is spacious. There's a private dining room, bar area, and outdoor seating. It's a great location for hosting large parties! The menu offers a large selection of typical bar food: sliders, chicken tenders, fried calamari , and other appetizers, as well healthy dinner options. The food was ok, but the service was outstanding! I look forward to checking out this place again soon and have already made a reservation for my Halloween party here! A big shout out to bartender Eric and waitress Rebecca for their extra friendly service!

Western scramble was perfectly even with egg to ingredient ratio. Probably more than I needed. Staff was super welcoming. Traveling, I'm always looking for welcoming environments. I'll return before I leave SD.

I don't know why it took us so long to try Mainstream but it was great. We went on a Saturday evening for dinner with the family. It's split into a restaurant side and a bar side. The bar side was pretty happening and there was a live band that started at 7pm. We sat on the restaurant side because we had the kids with us but we were told that kids can sit on the bar side, just not at the actual bar. Chelsea was our server and she was outstanding! All of the food was great. The parmesan fries are VERY parmesan! We'll definitely be back and want to try out karaoke Thursdays!

It's been a while since I've reviewed Mainstream. Not much has changed in terms of the menu in the (gasp) either years since my initial review. And I'd say that's a good thing. What has changed is the dining room. There is now a remodeled dining room that sits apart from the bar. The dining room looks great, with new furniture and murals covering the walls. Overall, it's more inviting place to eat and have a relaxed conversation than the combo bar/diner that preceded it. The service continues to be friendly and casual. There are not too many places left in the area that have a genuine diner vibe, and I'm glad this still exists.

Does this place allow smoking in their outside seating area? I have really bad allergies to second hand smoke but prefer eating outside

No because it's a family restaurant but at night I believe there will be cause it's also a bar.

We have 15 arriving at 10:30am this morning. Can you fit us in?

Friendly insider advice, if you have a large party coming in when any restaurant might not be expecting it, it's best to phone ahead of time so they have the staff and proper set-up to accommodate you right away. Your visit will run much more smooth… Read more

They have fresh crepes Sat/Sun 8am-1pm! Theres a cute stand outside where you can also watch the crepes being made. Ham, egg, cheese, & spinach crepe (7/10): $8.50 for base crepe + extras for add ons. A bit expensive -- not as authentic as the crepes I've had in France, but they are filled reasonably. Wish they were a little crispier! Turkey avo BLT (7.5/10): didn't blow my mind but I still enjoyed it. Good amount of turkey & avo and you can request it toasted! Chicken curry croissant (9/10): lovedddd the flavor. Raisins added the perfect amount of sweetness. The croissant itself is perfectly buttery and flakey! Apple turnover (8/10): would be perfect if it was a little warmer. Generous amount of filling & I liked that it wasn't too sweet. I'd get this again! Almond croissant (9.5/10): SO GOOD. came fresh out of the oven and was soooo flakey & the filling wasn't overpowered by the almond flavor. I'd get this again!! Jalapeno and cheddar sourdough (9/10): SO fresh & they offer to slice it for you. a little spicy and savory & great to eat on its own too! Will definitely come back to try other pastries! I see they've revamped the walls upstairs and seem to have added more seatings too. I noticed they have a water dispensary area which is self serve. There's also a QR code for the menu, but I went ahead and searched the menu online and was helped by Tristan when all my friends have already placed their orders. He made sure to ask how I wanted my eggs done and if I wanted to add anything else. But also orders can be placed using the scanned QR if a server hasn't had a chance to check on your table. I ordered the avocado Benedict with hash. My friends ordered the chilaquiles and french toast, and a bunch others that I didn't get to take a pic of. However, I was able to try the chilaquiles, and the steak on that was so flavorful, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the sauce in the bottom had a slight kick to it but with the mix of crema it helped balanced out perfectly. As for the cinnamon brioche french toast, that was one of the best French toast I've had in a while. Nice and crispy but still fluffy in the middle, with that nice cinnamon flavor, topped with whipped cream and berries. As for my order of the avocado Benedict. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, and I had mine poached. Can def. Add other proteins to the dish with extra charge, but I wanted to keep it as is. The brioche bread was fluffy and buttery like too, it was great for absorbing some of that hollandaise sauce and yolk. My friends also ordered two bottles for mimosas. We had lychee and mango syrup/puree and it gave such a tropical and summer vibe. We also ended our meal with some desserts. We had the cream puff ube, cake choc brownie, and cheesecake caramel apple. My fav. Out of the three, was the cake choc brownie. I think I would be able to eat two of those if I wasn't full. Just loved how the chocolate mousse on the top melted in the mouth, but also that brownie isn't the typical brownie texture. It has a crisp to it. The mousse and crispiness just melts so deliciously together. I should've ordered another for takeout. Service was great despite it looking busy. Food didn't take too long to come out either. But we also did dine in at a decent time too. We had such a good time, especially for my friends who tried it out for the first time. I see they also have a dinner menu now. Maybe we'll come back to try that next time!

The first three things that came to mind after dining here were high quality ingredients, the customer experience/ambiance, and attention to detail. Eddie who I believe is the gentleman who runs the place was my "cashier" he provided the two recommendations photographed below (I am not a photographer) but I can tell you they were both out of this world. The Prosciutto & Fig, Toast and the Allen's Tuna Cool and Tasty. The staff was warm and inviting, and though this is a coffee shop, they came around table to table, customer to customer and asked how they were doing, and if there was anything they could do to make the experience better. You just don't see that in a coffee shop. This place is an entire experience and it's clearly built around highly effective culture. I will drive out of my way to come here, I discovered this place on a whim and will now be regular. If you get a chance, whether you're a local, or someone just visiting "Cali" give this place a try you won't regret it, ask Eddie about his story of how this place got started with him and his three daughters. I'd be willing to bet you'll add it to your rotation and become a regular yourself.

The eggs and hash browns were mediocre at best, and the bacon was so overcooked it had the texture of a chip and was way too salty. It was all fine, just nothing special--something I could've easily made at home for better taste and a lower price. The menu overall felt overpriced for the quality, especially since most items were $17+. Customer service was fine, but nothing stood out or made the experience better. The food did come out quickly, which I appreciated, and our drinks were refilled in a timely manner, which made the experience smoother. The one true highlight was the sourdough toast--it was actually really good. For comparison, places like Broken Yolk Cafe offer breakfast-style meals at a lower price with comparable (or even better) quality and portion sizes, which made this restaurant feel overpriced for what you get. Their website lists prices as $10-$20, but in reality most items I saw were $16+, so the pricing felt higher than expected and feel that should be updated ! That said, I personally find this place a bit too pricey for the overall food quality.
