I was disappointed on the quality of food at this place. I was really excited to try this place out and had been eyeing to eat here for a while. We ate on a late Sunday afternoon, with just one other customer. I looked immediately at the Hawaiian Style food, which I'm a big fan of and settled for te Kalbi Beef Korean Style, and my boyfriend got the chicken and shrimp vermicelli noodles. I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which for $3, is truly a small amount, and the cup was half ice. The food arrived and I was immediately disappointed with the presentation and portion of the plates. First off, why did the vermicelli look like spaghetti noodles? This as his first time trying these type of noodles and I was embarrassed to have him try it for the first time at this establishment. Flavor wise, it was ok. But the spaghetti like vermicelli was a complete turn off for me. As for my Kalbi Beef, it was literally just 70% bones and 30% meat. It came with a teeny scope of macaroni salad, which tasted like eating a spoonful of mayonnaise, and some kimchi which tasted funky to me. The Kalbi beef itself was drenched in some watery sauce which I didn't find appetizing. We ended up leaving still hungry and not satisfied with our food. This could possibly be the worst place I've ever been. I ordered the Kuala Pig and it arrived and it looked like s hot mess on the plate. It was floating in a liquid mess of something and the kimchi tasted funky. The small glob of rice on my plate and the odd colored macaroni salad had already started to soak up the disgusting liquid floating at the bottom of my plate. The tap water tasted like aquarium water. I'm not sure what's going on here, but they need to start all over again. FAIL !!! I should have gone to Taco hell instead. Never again. I came here with my family with the best of hopes and expectations only to feel embarrassed for them by how horrible the service was and how low the quality of the ingredients were. The waitress/cashier looked like she was still in high school and never tried to accommodate us once. We had to flag her down to get utensils, sugar, soy sauce, salt...ANYTHING. The food tasted like flavored plastic and the Spring Rolls were by far the worst we've ever had. I was craving pho, went in, didn't get it. Their pgo menu is less than extensive, but I ended up finding a killer meal anyway. Tiger shrimp and pork with vemicelli. Mmmmmmm. We've been here before and the service and food has always been good. Tonight though, as we walked in there were multiple cockroaches as we entered. Not "high chair" kid friendly. Tried to eat here. They only have two high chairs and both were broken and would not close properly. Our son kept slipping through the seat. The waitress and owner seemed confused about why this was a problem and completely unconcerned. Also, they were playing on their phones when we came into the restaurant and did not seem eager for patrons. This place is absolutely underrated. This was my first time in and my boyfriend recommended the place. We ordered the escargot as an app and then our server Sandy who helped guid us through our entire dining experience recommended the Mai's Sate. We ordered two and... WOW. Spicy and lots flavor and not too salty. Exactly what we were looking for. My coworker and I pick up Mai's veggie phos at least once a week. If you're vegetarian, this veggie pho is bomb. Also if you're a sick vegetarian, add in those jalapeños and siracha and your sinuses will be flowing and it is bomb. I love this place! Delicious, authentic Vietnamese food, and truly outstanding pho. I first came here after dance class one day needing a hearty meal to fill me up. I was excited about the Vietnamese / Hawaiian mix, hoping it would be something interesting, but it seemed to be mostly Vietnamese with a Hawaiian menu in the back, nothing too special. The Vietnamese food was not good, I've had much better. The drink I had didn't impress me either. The entrance and parking is a bit sketchy. Parking in the back was dark and didn't feel all that safe. The entrance seemed to be hard to find. There was some hip hop show that night, and a lot of people kept walking past our table constantly the entire night. Smoke from smokers outside kept wafing into the restaurant, and the doors were kept open while it was pretty cold inside. It's dark, and not a great sit down place. I would not come again. read more

Had the soup (Pho) and chicken sandwhich, yum. Partner enjoyed the Mochi chicken, which was flavorful, and gave me his Hawaiian style macaroni salad, which was much appreciated and devoured. I have had way better Vietnamese food. To start pho is usually prepared quite quickly but it took way longer than expected to recieve my food. I ordered Mai Sate and I ordered it to be a mild spice but what I received was not mild at all it was super spicy. I decided to order some spring rolls and they were so small and quite flavorless really. Also the Thai tea I had here was EXTREMELY sweet, I added water to it but it just could not be fixed. I love Mai & her cute cafe. The family who own this spot are the sweetest most genuine people. Their food is Vietnamese and Hawaiian fusion. It's been awhile since I've had such home cooked tasting meals. I ordered the chicken katsu plate & my significant other ordered the pho with seafood. The chicken katsu was juicy & cooked perfectly. It was accompanied by Mac salad, kimchi & rice. The Mac salad is one of the best I've had in a really long time. It had a very unique yellow tumeric color. Would've loved to bring a pound of it home to go! The pho was executed beautifully with very rich beef flavors in the broth. The food comes out super quickly. If you're a fan of lavender I totally recommend their lavender milk tea. If you aren't a fan of herbal flavors I would steer clear of it. 10/10 would come here again. read more

Their pho broth is spicy and delicious although the serving isn't as much as other pho restaurants... but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. In my opinion, their boba is probably one of the best ones around Ventura County. It's not too soft. it's chewy and just right. Also, I like that they're open late. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner having high expectations for Vietnamese AND Hawaiian food. However, it disappointed us. We came in the back way and it was really weird. We weren't sure where to go and when we walked in there is a small dining area. On the other side of the room is a lounge. On the same night we came, there was a hip-hop performance in the back room. So when we sat down to eat, there was a lot of people walking by us. It was uncomfortable and awkward eating. The restaurant is Vietnamese owned. They give you HUGE food portions. We did not try any Hawaiian food, so I don't know how it fairs. The price for the Vietnamese food is a bit pricey compared to many other places. I have definitely had better Vietnamese food.
