Paris Baguette has been around for a long time! I'm glad to see it start proliferating around in the Bay Area. It's a pretty decent bakery mostly western style pastries. I am a huge fan of Nutella and they seem to have a lot of pastries featuring Nutella. I like their Nutella baked good, and also the custard or cream breads. I think everything I've had so far is a bit on the sweet side but good. They also have ice cream cakes to my delight. I love ice cream cake and would consider it for my birthday. I also see tons of cake slices in the counter. I've gotten one for free on my birthday thanks to their rewards program! read more

A cute place I like to frequent to if I'm in the area and I need a pick me up or snacks for work. Two of my favorites include the curry bun and red bean bun. I tried to like the hotdog but there's too much going on for me. The mochi donuts are pretty good or whatever I'm feeling in the moment. My friend recommended the blueberry yogurt cake, so I got it for my husband's birthday last year and it was amazing! The yogurt pudding is really what sells it. I've gotten it a couple times since, but lately have been disappointed by the service. On three separate occasions in the past two months, my husband and I have asked for a slice of the blueberry yogurt cake. All three times when we got home, we realize they gave us the blueberry chiffon cake slice. One or two times is okay, but after this recent third time, I decided I need a break from this location. We should double check before they pack us the boxes, but I'm not sure why we keep getting the wrong slice when we clearly said we wanted the blueberry yogurt cake. I came to Paris Baguette because I was craving a mochi donut and was sad to discover that the Mochinut in Downtown San Mateo is closed. They have a large selection of pastries. It's self-serve. You grab a tray and some tongs and can pick which pastries you want. We ordered 2 pastries and a cappuccino. The total came out to $15.07. The pastries were okay. I don't think they tasted super fresh. There is lots of indoor seating, so this is a nice spot to go to with friends. Lots of pastry selections, both savory and sweet. Not my fave bakery, but very easy to grab a seat if you're looking for a spot to sit in. The coffees are pretty good, kinda takes a while to get it and it sucked to have to go the counter to ask for forks/knives when it's busy at the front. Tried their pineapple pastry and it did not disappoint--super fresh, light, and just the right amount of sweetness. You can tell they take pride in their baked goods. Maybe I need to replace the phrase, "like kids in a candy shop" with, "like kids in a Paris Baguette" with the way they wander around with tongs and mouths wide open. My favorite go to is usually their fruit pastry (it has custard inside and various fruit toppings on top). It's a great combo. Their pain au chocolat was alright, a bit soft overall. Was my first time coming to this location. Overall it was clean and pastries were fully stocked. However, the drink I received was incorrect. When I politely tried to tell the woman who made the drink, the cashier who rang me up interrupted and said "No, that's what you ordered". I questioned myself for a second and thought there was no way I ordered that because I wasn't even aware that 'Korean iced milk coffee' was on the menu, I have never even heard or ever ordered that drink in my life. I clarified and told her I had ordered a "Green iced tea". The cashier looked at the woman who ordered my drink to tell her again "that's what she ordered" and repeated the same thing to me again the second time. Her sweet coworker ignored her and asked me again if I wanted the drink to be made, I was so furious at that point I politely declined and walked out. Maybe this could've been prevented if I asked to repeat back the order or if I was given the receipt but the whole interaction was just so unpleasant and put me in a bad mood. If there's one thing that I despise -it's being gaslit. HORRIBLE customer service. The cashier was so rude about it. The rest of the staff seemed nice but when you have one outwardly rude ass staff it can make the whole place so unpleasant. Don't think I would ever come back here. read more

The only place that was opened during the holidays, so I thought we give it a try. Cold brew was disappointing - it didn't taste right for some reason. It seems more diluted than usual and the vanilla cream on top wasn't foamy enough? Baked goods were okay, nothing to write home about. I was hoping to find a drink to match the peppermint bark shake at Habit Burger Grill. Not even close. The syrup was all at the bottom. The sprinkles added color, but it was like hard candy and didn't really match the "experience". $8 Mango cream brioche - I took one bite and I was done. It was sour. Made me worried it was spoiled, but my husband said it was fine. It probably was, but that sourness makes me so paranoid. Stopped by Paris Baguette for a small dessert after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. Conveniently just a few feet away, this place came in clutch without having to do too much. The store was still pretty busy on New Years Eve. Students studying, catch up sessions, and families enjoying an evening dessert filled the establishment. Luckily for us, the selection of baked goods still had a few options. The pastry case didn't lack items and my daughter absolutely needed to get her tiny hands on a macaron. 5/5 stars for the patient staff who didn't huff and puff over my indecisive toddler. Pastries are universally delicious at every Paris Baguette and this place is no exception, but would probably skip out on their beverages. I've had their coffee and teas, and if I were to pick one to pair with my food it'd be the iced fruit teas. I'm a big fan of their hashbrown ham and cheese pastry with ketchup drizzled on top- SO good and hits the right notes of salt (ham), fat (cheese), and acidity (ketchup). They've recently rolled out an iced Dubai chocolate matcha latte that I was curious about and ordered- skip this. It's basically really pistachioy with a faint chemical taste, there's a chocolate drizzle and kataifi on top that adds to the texture, it slowly gets less crunchy and loses its more rough texture the more you drink it which I actually enjoyed! It still stays noticable. There's no matcha flavor whatsoever, I highly doubt it would taste good paired with the beverage (or maybe it would if you're a fan of bittersweet tastes). read more

I went back today to talk to a manager, and to my more unpleasant surprise, she said that was just the design of the cake. This seems so ridiculous to me because a hole in the middle of a cake is actually such an insult to anyone who's celebrating a birthday. I had one of the worst customer service experiences here today (April 6th around 1:25 PM). I ordered a strawberry smoothie, and it was overwhelmingly sweet--to the point where it was hard to drink. I politely asked the manager if anything could be done to fix it. She said she could add water or ice, so I asked if she could blend it again with ice. Instead, she simply dropped ice cubes into the cup and handed it back to me, which honestly caught me off guard. I then asked if I could exchange it for a lower-cost item, but she refused. During the interaction, she rolled her eyes and shook her head, which made me feel really unwelcome as a customer. She eventually remade the drink, but only after adding tap water and blending it. Overall, the experience felt dismissive and uncomfortable. I've always thought of Paris Baguette as a friendly and welcoming place, but this visit completely changed that impression. read more

Convenient location and the usual decor. Long wait late in the morning when I was just trying to quickly grab a pastry. There were four people ahead of me and it stayed that way for 15 minutes. Not sure what caused the pause in line processing. I assume it's a one off, so not accounted for in the three stars for the review. The three stars is for cleanliness and food. The table had multiple brown dried sticky brown rings from drinks, some dehydrated looking whipped cream like it had sat there forever, and a bunch of crumbs. I got the garlic sausage pastry. The pastry, once heated up, dripped a bunch of orange oil (from the cheese?) to the bottom of the bag. The texture of the pastry was sticky and mushed together. Kind of like a gooey, cotton candy texture if you mixed flour in with cotton candy? Lastly, for some reason this pastry was topped with sugar; the sausage was savory but the pastry was sweet. It was weird. Haven't had anything else here but I assume it's consistent with other PBs? Wouldn't get that pastry at any location again though. read more

Over the years I know I have complained about PB variety selection has gone down, which is true, but as I walked into this Paris Baguette location, I immediately noticed a wide variety of pastries and other goodies. PB is still not what it used to be 10 years ago. They discontinued their puddings which came in a mini glass bottle. They would sell out of these puddings. Their vanilla, chocolate, cookies & cream crème filled croissants also discontinued. The main pastry that I go after now is their croissant with vanilla cream with slices of strawberries. PB in Dublin still serve it but they got stingy with the cream. PB SF next to Hmart also sell it and they overflow their croissants with cream. Not sure if PB San Mateo sells them. read more

Usually always solid choices, but I went in yesterday and ordered a slice of chocolate chiffon and red velvet. The front display fridge was not working so they brought me slices from the back. The chocolate chiffon tasted moldy and the red velvet was spoiled. I brought it back today hoping for just a different slice since they were our favorites cake spot, but they denied me. I asked them to throw it away for me, and that was the end of it. Poor customer service for two spoiled slices of cake. read more

Was craving a smoothie and found out Paris Baguette actually had some so we stopped by around noon on a Monday. This store has lots of seating and natural light, there were lots of people working on their laptops inside. Had all the usual selection of pastries available. We got an almond pastry to snack on and an iced butter pecan latte with almond milk. There were 2 smoothie flavors available, strawberry and mango. I wasn't sure which one to get, so I asked the cashier for a recommendation and ended up with mango -- and it definitely didn't disappoint! Smoothie was the perfect consistency and sweet, and also had small mango bits. With that said, the butter pecan latte was a let down, didn't taste the butter pecan flavor at all, it was basically just a normal latte. I would have probably given 5 stars, if not for the latte (esp since it's a winter special). read more

When we brought it to the attention of the woman working, she didn't seem to care and didn't even offer an apology. At over $5 per pastry, this is really disappointing and unacceptable.
