I requested a balayage ombre both times and went a bit more ashy this last time I went. My hair both looks and feels great every time. She's so sweet, she even helped me extend my parking while I was getting my hair done (the theater parking lot has a 3 hour limit Monday- Saturday so if your appointment goes over you have to go back pay the parking machine to stay longer). I went to Ellie to explore a hair update. I have always found my hair on the ashy side and I wanted to go beyond adding warm low lights. In my opinion, low lights are a band-aid to the ashy dilemma and were not giving me the results I wanted. Also, I have coarse hair that make highlights hard to see - in other words, when I get highlights it looks like my whole head of hair got lightened one to two shades and there is very little contrast between the highlighted hair and the unhighlighted hair. Obviously, I have put way too much thought into the plight of my ashy, one dimensional hair. Enter Ellie, who listened intently to my ideas about my hair, what I was unhappy with, and how I hoped it could look. She is the first stylist to suggest solutions that are out of the box (all over color) with some highlights on top. You don't know how long I have waited for someone to come up with a creative solution for my ashy problem. Ellie and I picked out a warmer base color and she applied it to my roots and then for a brief time to my ends. This application strategy allowed me to keep my current lightened ends and get that oh so glamorous ombre look. She then did highlights that I can actually see, and contrast the base color! I was a little worried about getting permanent hair color because of roots and maintenance. However, Ellie picked out such a perfect color and applied it so masterfully that despite new growth my roots are hardly noticeable. The only reason I have to go back to Ellie is not because my hair looks a mess, but because I'm so excited to see what Ellie will do next with my hair! P.S. I was very happy with my experience at Maison! My friend and I came in on a spontaneous whim and the salon was so accommodating. We were seen right away and we were both so happy with the service we received. I felt so lucky I got such an great hair stylist, Monica. She worked with me with to figure out what looked I wanted and did a beautiful job dying my hair. I ended up getting a brown Belayage and couldn't have been more happy with result. YOU BETTER STAY AWAY!! THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!!! First of all, I never leave reviews, the business has to be extraordinary or really terrible for me to spend time writing a review.. I walked in to Maison Deux at 4/30/2015 at around 2pm and asked for a simple haircut. I happened to get Jamie P. as my 'stylist'. She started cutting my hair with the machine but she was unable to even hold the machine...she cut a little more on one side little less on the other side and left long pieces of hair all around! I wanted a little longer hair on the top so she needed to use scissors. I was really scared about that after seeing her terrible job with a simple machine but I gave her a second chance...well I wish I didn't. All I asked for is to cut an inches everywhere. She cut a quarter of an inch here and sometimes cut over an inch at the other side. She has no idea about the difference between quarter of an inch and one and a half inch. After 4 minutes of cutting here and there she asked if I wanted her to cut more or it's done. I told her that it could be worse and quickly rushed out... I had to pay $35 for this mess! Now I have to find someone to fix what Jamie P. have done to my hair. (uploaded picture of that mess) She even let me leave with my hair being wet... She also told me that she cut the hair of pickier man before. Well Jamie I'm not picky but you have to learn more about hair dressing. Seriously this place could be a lot better without someone who is unable to do a basic haircut. Erica, do you really want your customers to experience what I've experienced? Or you want them to be happy and come back? I understand that I walked in and I get a less experienced stylist but she is not one! After searching a long time online looking and calling everywhere I finally found this salon and booked an appointment with Alyssa. I have since kept returning and really love this salon. The atmosphere is great, the people in the salon are all friendly and the staff are all attentive. Alyssa is great I wanted an ombre color and I could see she was skeptical about whether I would like it and went lightly on me the first time with purple on the bottom and I loved it. I returned today for a touch up and we went a little deeper with the color and I really love it. She did a great job on the color. I am very excited about it. Came here to get a bad haircut fixed and I'm so happy with my new do!! With the help of one of my good friends, I got a last minute appointment with Briana. Sometimes trying out new salons can be scary, but I felt good vibes the minute I walked into this salon. This review is for Alyssa. Went in for a haircut after reading reviews for the salon and saw a photo of hair recently done by Alyssa. My haircut was everything I wanted and more. Alyssa was attentive, friendly and did just as I asked. She made my hair look healthy and bouncy and gave me long layers that give my hair movement where it used to fall flat. She made sure not to cut off too much and kept my hair nice and long. I went back to Alyssa a few days later because I needed a touch up of my ombre and I loved how she cut my hair. I was very particular in that I preferred a more subtle ombre but still with some blonde highlights only at the very end. I didn't want anything too stark or dramatic. I told her I trusted her to know what would turn out best. She did an amazing job. The transition was gradual and not choppy looking. She took my more golden, brassy ombre to a lighter brown/blonde tone that compliments my skin tone so much better. She really is skilled and both times after my haircut and color I left with my hair looking so pretty and got numerous compliments. I had no problems making an appointment. This review is for RICHARD. I've been coming to Richard at Maison Salon exclusively for 2+ years(!) to do my highlights and cuts/trims. I don't even live nearby anymore -- I make the trek up from the south bay faithfully every couple months because no one else does as good a job! My hair is dark brown and definitely mostly solid-color -- so I love that Richard has managed to make me look naturally blonde (people don't believe me when I tell them my true color!). The highlights blend wonderfully. Richard also does a great job keeping my hair looking healthy but keeping the length with light trims. Over the years we've played with different bang ideas too - he always manages to cut in a way that requires minimal maintenance. The personal experience has also been amazing - when I first came in, Richard got to know me, what I like to do, what my job is, and how I normally style my hair. He used all this to help me figure out what kind of cut and color I needed. When I was trying bangs, and when I was trying to grow my hair out longer, he was very supportive and adjusted his methods - but kept me informed about how my hair was doing and made recommendations. He's flexible and always wiling to work around my schedule if need be. I look forward to seeing Richard every session because I know my hair will look great, and because the personal experience is always great - over a glass of wine, we discuss ski trips, politics, and everything else I find interesting! I got a simple but awesome layered haircut by Kim a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. I told her that I wanted something a little more stylish than what I had but still something low maintenance. I also told her that I got split ends from my last layered cut and she explained the reasons why and promised to give me layers the correct way for my fine, flat hair. I was super happy with how she cut it. I couldn't stop playing with it because it felt so nice and soft! I had been really annoyed with my hair for a while and this visit totally fixed it. The haircut alone was $60 and I got a deep conditioning treatment for $10. This is definitely more pricey than I'm used to, and the salon seemed very upscale, but my hair needed it and I'm glad I went. The deep conditioning treatment seemed to help too, and it even seemed to last through at least 3 washes as I could still feel it and smell it! Overall I'm happy with my cut and would recommend this salon if you're willing to spend at least $60 on your hair. Thank you Kim! read more

I have been seeing Briana for the past 3 years religiously for all my hair needs and have followed her because she understands what this curly haired girl needs. Wish i could give no stars. I had the most upsetting experience today. I am trying to accept the fact that my hair will be ruined for the next six to eight months. I went into this salon for a root touch up with highlights and asked the girl to fix the haircut she previously gave me since it wasn't layered enough in the back. Well what i got was nothing short of horrific. Not only is the color so strange; different colors of white at my roots after she had to bleach the hell out of it for turning it purple, the next section is yellow and blue gray at my ends. And that isn't the worst of it. This is by far the worst cut i have ever had. My hair is so short and not layered at all. I had a photo showing a longer bob like mine with layers and she just cut it super short. Like seriously so short. looks like a bowl cut and I'm so embarrassed to go to work. I have no idea how to style this or even if its fixable when i go to my normal salon next weekend. Given the fact of how upset i was in itself( i was crying), i don't think asking me to pay $165 for this awful cut and color was something any salon should have done. So i refused to pay that. She said to just pay for their product and the cut which came to $105. Which i reluctantly did. I left feeling so upset and embarrassed to even walk down the street! After all this, i don't think they should have charged me anything for ruining my hair. The only redeeming factor is that it is hair and it will eventually grow out. I just have to live with the worst color and haircut of my life for awhile :( Hairdresser name is Breanna. Stay away! read more

All I gots to say is Ellie is AMAZING!!! I come from a strong background in hair since my mom use to be a hair dresser for many years and she owed a couple of salons back in the day. Because of the experimentation that I had done with my hair I decided to one day grow out my hair. 5 years later I decided to cut my hair, which I donated 26 inches to Locks of Love. :) I know for this cut I wanted to have a transformative look so I was in needed an EXCELLENT hair dresser. A friend of mine recommended me to her and she did a MAGNIFICENT JOB!!! She definitely knows her stuff! She definitely listens to your wishes but is also realistic. She was able to give me right on point recommendations for my hair and my facial structure since I have a LOT of hair and THICK HAIR with a round face. I wanted to do a edgy and sexy look and she pulled it off. I will post pics of my transformation. :) I went home to surprise my family and they didn't recognize me and I had many dropped jaws and smiles. EVERYONE gave me props for my hair. THANK YOU ELLIE!!! Margaret suggested a time when there were less people working. She took my and her temperatures. Lots of good sanitation practices in place by all. Chairs sprayed down etc. They are taking Covid safety seriously. So appreciated that. I am rating a 4 ONLY because it's impossible not to pass by people (just like any place or store really) at 6 feet distance as you move about, but at least it's quick and everyone is wearing a mask. I came into this salon with questions and Alanna answered them with no doubt and gave her opinions on what would be best for my hair as well. I wanted an ash blonde balayage, but was concerned that the ash blonde may be too light for my skin tone, so she gave me what an ash tone that would fit me. It turned out a little more warmer than I wanted, but I still love it. The balayage was starting at $150 and I only paid $150 for medium length hair. The price is as good as it gets after comparing it to other salons that have about the same rating I would come back again! And definitely recommending this salon to anyone who wants to get their hair colored. read more

I had Monica cut and style my hair about a year ago right before a job interview (I know review long overdue!). She did a fantastic job! I looked and felt great (totally nailed the job interview btw :p Thanks Monica!), and my cut was a new style I wanted to try and she was very good about explaining what it would look like and giving me feedback on how she thought it would look and what changes she would make to make sure it fit with my face (wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna look crazy). I'm a hair slut. I've been jumping from stylist to stylist for years, never finding one I liked enough to return to. I was also cheap with my haircuts, patronizing only the cheapest salons I could Yelp. After a particularly disarrayed cut this year, I decided to quit my cheap ways and try something different. My scouting on Yelp brought me to Maison Deux. I booked a last-minute appointment, practically a walk-in, on a day off from work and I got assigned to whoever was free. Richard was friendly, understanding, and knowledgeable. He asked me questions and listened to my hair goals. Talking with him made me feel completely confident in his hair knowledge and expertise. I felt like I was a patient undergoing surgery with Richard as my doctor. His work felt quick yet precise. He looked focused on doing the best job he could for my hair, which I appreciated a lot. The results made me so happy and excited for my new hair. He followed everything I wanted: trimmed off the dead hair, kept the length, and added more shape to my hair. I was especially impressed with the layers that added more movement to my hair. I asked him how could I recreate that look at home, since I assumed he used some sort of blowdrying trick, but he said that was simply the way he cut my hair. This review is for Kim. Anyone who has read my Yelp reviews before knows that my hair is my superpower, and therefore needs to be cared for by someone who knows what they're doing. Kim knows what she's doing. I told her that my hair was getting too long and heavy so I needed to lose some weight off it, but that I didn't want to lose a ton of length. She did an expert job cleaning up my layers and making me feel feather-light without compromising the style I want or the maintenance routine I like to stick to (which is pretty minimal.) She asked before using any product and kept up just the right amount of conversation. On top of that, her prices were totally reasonable. You know how sometimes you leave a salon with a picture-perfect blowout and when you try to wash and style it yourself the same day, you just don't love it? Well I'm 10 days out now and still loving this cut! I don't think I'll go anywhere else - Kim's my girl now! read more

I was in dire need of a haircut and color, and had heard about the salon from some girlfriends. Angie makes it really easy by having an app that you can schedule your appointments on, or you can email her if that's more convenient for you. Angie is really patient and understanding of what you want. She's also great at giving suggestions. Each time I got my hair done, I got tons of compliments - that's never happened before! While I have had good haircuts from different stylists in the past, I will say that Angie is a GENIUS at color. I feel awesome coming out of the salon each time. My husband and I saw Angela a few days apart. I was first. She was 15 mins late getting to the salon (I was the 1st appt). She has kids so I totally understood. She did a decent job on my hair but I wasn't wow'ed. I was kinda surprised that she didn't offer a discount or throw in something when she was so late to get there (luckily another stylist was there so I didn't have to wait outside). 3 days later my husband had his appt. He was 10 mins late because he had trouble finding the salon. She told him she couldn't take him. He didn't tell her he was my husband, but knew she was late for my appt. He tried to convince her that his cut was simple and shouldn't make her late for her next customer. She argued with him for another 10 mins then agreed to cut his hair and slowly softened towards him. Again the cut was nothing to write home about and it looked bushy within a week or two. Kim reached out after the previous yelp review, apologized, and offered to do my hair at her next available appointment. (thank you!) Not having colored my hair for the past 6 years or so, I was a bit hesitant, but decided now would be a good time for change(s). I wanted to do a "natural ombre" color on my "virgin like" black hair. Kim was extremely nice and helpful in debunking a lot of myths about the dying/ bleaching/ basically what I called- sabotaging and killing my oh so healthy hair- or so I thought. It turns out that although the bleach does damage to a certain extent, the toning bit after the bleach actually conditions and nourishes the hair. I also opted for a trim since my hair was a bit "dead" already at the ends. (Do not fret. "dead" is a common term used amongst females in regards to hair) Overall, I was amazed by the cleanliness of the studio, friendliness of the staff, and amazing work done by Kim. I thoroughly enjoyed the good conversation and knowledge of hair dropped upon me as I waited for the color to process. Currently, I'm loving my new color and cut. Note, please do book in advance (about a month or so) as the studio was bustling with customers on a week day afternoon. They do welcome walk-ins, but you know what they say, easy is rarely good, best things in life are worth waiting for- so book in advance. read more
