I was looking for a bakery for my son's birthday and wanted to support local business instead getting a cake from supermarket. Maison Rafi showed up on Yelp so I decided to visit! Their service was so nice and helpful! Their main kitchen is actually in Pasadena and they transport the baked goods and cake to Glendora. I got a slice of hazelnut cake, Black Forest, and tiramisu. Then the lady gave me their freshly baked sesame cookies and omg it was soooooo good!!! Their cakes are not too sweet and not artificial flavors, too. My partner decided he wanted to try something totally new for his birthday, and after a little research he decided to try a European dessert from Rafi's. I called the bakery and spoke to a women, asking her to help us choose between ordering a honey cake or a birds milk cake. She suggested doing individual slices of each so we could try both, which was a genius idea and cost exactly the same as ordering one whole cake. We have 2 days notice for when we needed to pick up and when we got there it was all boxed up and ready for us. She offered to write on the slices, or to include a chocolate "happy birthday" plate but we declined. The cakes were RIDICULOUSLY good, I cannot believe I've lived 30 years without having honey cake in my life. I will absolutely be back to try more of their treats! Drove by this place so many times and finally get to visit this place today. They have quite a variety of sweet both French style bakery and Mifdle Eastern desserts. Ranging from butter croissants to ham & cheese to sweet eclairs to baklava to all sorts of other sweet that I am not exposed to. The service was superb so friendly and took time to explain what they are. Lovely little shop. Can park in front of the store and they have more parking in the back. Really too many desserts, to list that are my favorites, but if I had to The bird's milk and , the honey cake are definitely a must try!! The cake layers are so moist, light and airy, and the frosting is a buttercream. But not too sweet, a fantastic combination. And if you're lucky enough The pistachio a cheesecake, what is to die for! So it's my wife's birthday and she said she wants to come to Maison Rafi to get some sweets for our family get together and what can I say, we drive all the way to Glendora. Fortunately, it was a very worthwhile event. The people that work there are all so nice. When I pointed to one pastry, they offered a taste. My daughter was going gang-busters and had to be toned down or we would have walked out with a $100 purchase. Everything was so good and we can't wait to get back here. This bakery has one of the best Syrian desserts in the entire inland empire! Their warbat bi ishta are delightfully crisp on the outside and creamy in the middle, while the halawet el jibbin melts in your mouth. The Mamoul is buttery and delicious but we just wish they sold smaller date mamoul's bc they are quite large. The cakes are beautiful and delicious as well. They serve old cake. I will start off with my first experience which was in August 2024. I went to this small bakery to buy a cake for my dad's birthday. It was white cake with fruit salad. That cake was fresh, it was delicious, and it had my family asking me where it was from. Now let's go to today. September 12, 2024. My son's birthday. I went to buy a cake at around 2pm. I didn't bother even asking if the cakes were fresh, because last time I came I asked the woman who worked there which cakes were the freshest, and she told me all of them. And viola my father's cake was delicious. For my son I bought a vanilla chocolate layered cake that was decorated beautifully. We sang happy birthday to my son, and cut into the cake, and this cake was disgusting. The frosting and whipped cream were hard and like clay. The cake was stale. It was gross. My family members agreed. Now I am not going to stop the party and say let me not distribute the cake after we all already sang happy birthday and people are eating the cake. But if I could refund the cake I would. I thought I found a gem of a bakery, but I will never buy a cake from here again. I was embarrassed to serve it. Some of the chocolate still even had parchment paper stuck to it. Like who leaves paper on a cake that people are going to eat. I called hoping we could get a red velvet cake my grandson's birthday that day we had just gotten back from Arizona.. unfortunately he didn't have any but, he told me he could call his place in Pasadena. Ask them to make one and bring it to them and I could pick it up anytime after three. I was just amazed.! Completely friendly over the phone very caring, and really adamant about helping me. He kept his promise. The cake was picked up and I have to say it was the best red velvet cake me and my grandchildren and people that were at the party have never tasted one as good as this one.! Such a great find through Yelp again. Needed to find a cake for a birthday and wanted to try a new place. Madison Rafi had great reviews, but I wanted to try it myself to see what is so amazing about this place. My initial call was already great- the staff was kind and patient. Told me the choices available. My experience walking into their store was reflective of my initial call as well. It's a clean place with lots of options as seen in my photos. I walked out with more than just a cake, but also multiple slices of cake and even their hazelnut tart. The cake was very fresh, fluffy and not too sweet! Ended up selecting their hazelnut chocolate cake. Their tiramisu, cappuccino cake and hazelnut tarts were all delicious as well. The Russian bird milk was good but the sweetest of all the options.
