The Majestic is a solid diner stop off Route 17. The decor is fairly typical: booths, a glass case of desserts, tables and chairs in hideous yet oddly comforting colors. Our server Francisco was not a talkative man, but he got the job done. We got chicken fingers for the kids immediately upon sitting down, and Francisco had them out quite quickly, which we appreciated. They also arrived on a bed of lettuce, for aesthetics. My wife and I also shared a buffalo chicken wrap, and a caesar salad with grilled chicken added. The former was not great, as it was more tomato than chicken, and desperately in need of some bleu cheese dressing. I would've taken ranch even. The salad however, hit the spot, and the massive amount of actually well seasoned and cooked grilled chicken was much appreciated. Just so you know, pay at the cash register by the door. This place gets props for the location, which is on route 17 near some busy towns. The breakfast was fine and the eggs were good. I also was a fan of their burgers. It's a pretty standard Jersey diner by every stretch, with your share of booths, desserts etc. Portions are decent as well so you get some decent bang for your buck. There are often crumbs on the floor and i often feel a little uncomfortable. The menu is pretty good, though, even if the food and ingredients seem low quality overall. Besides the usual breakfast and sandwich fare, I was tempted by the crepes but knew it would be inferior to great ones. This time I was disappointed by the avocado toast because of the amount of avocado and the oversalted onions and tomatoes. Plus it was really sliced half avocado vs. True avocado toast. I thought I had chosen a healthy option but was thirsty for hours afterwards. The burger was given a thumbs down based on taste and the feeling afterward when driving home. Busy diner but short staffed. Had to wait for the wait staff to finish taking and delivering orders before we were able to be seated. Once seated and ordered the meals came out pretty quickly. Majestic does not disappoint -- be it on service, food quality or overall ambiance. Diner breakfasts need not be complicated or sophisticated to be satisfying ... or even outstanding. Majestic hovers near the top end of that spectrum IMO for its rendition of the Joisy weekend breakfast ritual -- and the owner (Tom) is a welcoming and jovial maitre d' who served us graciously. We ate basic ... eggs a few ways, home fries and meat --- which when done right is my gold standard. I had a medium rare strip steak with eggs over easy on top and chunky home fries alongside. All were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Surprisingly tasty steak for a $16 breakfast special - without the obligatory gristle I've encountered elsewhere. The egg yolks melted over the meat as it should be -- and the chunky, crispy and paprika seasoned home fries mopped up the rest of the yolk that I missed on the first pass. Haven't had steak and eggs done this well in a long time. I was pleased also with the richness of their coffee -- more like what you expect at a coffee house -- not a diner -- served in cool monogrammed mugs. No bitterness or acidity masquerading as good coffee here -- and obviously freshly brewed. Sweeties omelette was substantial and fluffy -- if a bit overdone -- and brimming with perfectly cooked asparagus and fresh avocado and tomatoes -- as ordered. And while the first installment of Juniors soft boiled eggs were undercooked hence overly runny -- they promptly redid the order perfectly -- with a smile. After 5 months since our visit, my partner, our friends and I returned for a repeat performance at this establishment in Ramsey, NJ. This is a typical dinner - layout, booths, décor. Menu is a bit smaller than most, but food quite good. Upon arrival into their ample private lot, parking was not a problem. There were a few patrons enjoying their meal when we walked in while social distancing procedure was enforced. We were happy to meet the same server, Abel and whisked us to a booth by the window. We ordered Norwegian Egg Benedict (Smoked salmon and poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce), Traditional Egg Benedict (Canadian bacon, poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce, Open Face Turkey (roasted in house on country white with mashed potato, brown gravy and seasonal vegetables, & Swiss cheese burger with fries. The variety type of meal came out hot and was delicious. The only complaint was that the potatoes and turkey were a bit dry but still okay. Unexpected surprise- will definitely return!! My friend and I considered leaving after we pulled in the parking lot and it was practically empty( not a great sign in NJ!). I ordered corned beef brisket with eggs over easy and cheese grits with a "side" of my favorite... disco fries. Everything was great! I appreciated that I could get corned beef without it being hash ( although they had that too) because I can't go to a diner and not order disco fries ( that is fries with brown gravy covered in melted cheese for those not from NJ). The eggs were perfectly cooked- soft gooey yolk and done whites!! The cheese grits were amazing- better than many places in the south even!! I think the disco fries were probably the best I've had in 25 years!!! Perfect ratio of gravy and cheese and fries were not total mush even when I was near the end. The other thing is that it's really CLEAN. I've been to tons of diners and this stood out in that department. Granted, it's newer, but still. They even have fresh squeezed OJ!!!! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that It took a long time for the waiter to re-fill my water ( which was in a tiny glass)and that was all I was drinking. read more

Decent diner right on Rt 17. Efficient service - every one was checking in on us on a regular basis and kept our water glasses full. Without being intrusive. They charge $2 additional to have real maple syrup as opposed to flavored corn syrup. Which is a lot since you only get a tablespoon full. My burger was supposed to be served with coleslaw and pickle. Which didn't come with it. I didn't complain because I didn't want to eat them anyway. But still - I didn't get a discount since they forgot. The burger was really really really good. I will definitely be back for another burger! read more

I was passing through this area and stopped here for two reasons. First it was around 1:30 and I had a 2 hr drive home so seemed like a good time to eat lunch. Second.. I needed a bathroom. The menu seemed limited for lunch, in fact it was a two page paper menu covering breakfast lunch and dinner. Seemed like all the burger options came with guacamole. Not a fan so I went for the Vietnamese bahn mi sandwich, or their version of it. Also ordered a side of fries. Well I've heard so much about Bahn Mi sandwiches but never had one. This one didn't go over big with me so I'll try it again at a Vietnamese restaurant when I get an opportunity. Fries were good. I guess overall this is a good diner, but I just wasn't feeling it.
