I ordered the Southern Ugly Sandwich Meal with onion rings and yogurt ranch. My dad ordered the Ugly Fries. The sandwich was not that spicy, more of a tame spiciness with good flavor. The cajun chicken sandwich was juicy, tender, and perfectly crunchy. The yogurt ranch complemented the cajun chicken sandwich and onion rings. The only reason I deducted a star was that the onion rings were soggy, with only slight crispiness, which was a bummer. My dad really enjoyed the Ugly Fries. He felt the fries were light and fluffy inside and had a crispy exterior. The chicken was tender, juicy, flavorful, and crunchy. Tried to come here once before but was greeted very rudely that even though they claim to close at 9:30 they could not seat us at 8:45. The next time we called before hand and they said their last seating was at 8:30. We showed up just before 8:30 and then were told that ugly chicken items are done at 8:30 and any other orders need to be made before 8:45. We then were told when we ordered that more items from the menu were unavailable after 8:30. They then rushed us out the restaurant, telling us they were closing and bringing the check to the table at 9:05. Not only did we feel like we were inconveniencing the staff, but all the staff we interacted with had an attitude and terrible customer service. A quiet afternoon with hankering for karaage chicken. Connally came to try the UGLY CHICKEN side of this restaurant. Seated quickly and took our orders quickly. Staff was efficient but not much table side chit chat. The fries had the right ratio of kimchi, cheese and bulgogi- just enought spiciness. My sisters sandwich she said was very flavorful albeit messy. The bun could've been toasted to help hold up to the sauce & slaw. The large pieces of karaage chicken were marinated nicely and came through the ultra crispy breading. They were fine alone, the dipping sauces gave that added flavor boost. The portion of the fries and karaage were so much I had to pack up the leftovers. I had some space left and was curious to try the injeolmi bingsu but the person who makes them was off . That out of the way, what I love about this place and why I will be back and may even eat INSIDE instead of continuously ordering take out is: everyone is so nice! The staff are friendly and efficient and transparent about cooking times and prices. I've never had someone check with me about the "credit card tax" on a POS reader before. I didn't have cash, so it was gonna be that way, but it was nice to know they cared. It goes on from there. Even the customers are nice to each other. When picking up my food at Ugly Chicken, it seems everyone is so happy to be about to eat this delicious food that they overdo kindness with each other. Pick up customers were waving in-house diners ahead to get seated! Just a great community vibe. Also, I'm not Muslim, but I'm curious about the prayer room. Seems like someone actually believes in something and is running a business in a way that shows it. My family has eaten the boneless thighs with the classic soy garlic sauce, the truffle fries, and the OG ugly sandwich. I get a side of the buldak sauce, and, yep, she's spicy. My literal only complaint is the fact that they oversauce the sandwiches a bit for my taste, but guess what! I can say "light sauce" when I order! They aren't skimping. I don't eat much beef, so I've avoided the steakhouse attached to the chicken restaurant, but I'd take a group of carnivorous friends there just on the merit of how much I like the chicken restaurant. Really great food! The Soy garlic chicken Sandwich is a must! The kids loved the ramen noodles, the kimchi fries were fun to eat but I would ask them to put less cheese sauce on it next time, the wings were crisp and sauced well.
