I do love me some Shannon Rose! I typically visit the Clifton location but was meeting friends for lunch in Ramsey so this just happened to be the place! Our server, Mike, was super nice and attentive. I had the Steak Frites with Bleu Cheese Mushroom sauce which was pretty good. It was creamy and I had enough to take as leftovers! We shared the Smores Skillet for dessert. I didn't love it - felt like it could use something else, perhaps a scoop of ice cream? My absolute favorite thing to get at either Shannon Rose location is the Cheddar Boxty! They can never take this off their menu - it's amazing! read more

I've been to their location in Clifton NJ in the past and it was good. So I was on town and decided to try this location. It was very good I started off with the Irish soda bread which was soft and tasty. My main course was the murder burger which is a deep fried burger totally unhealthy but it was so good the burger was cooked perfectly how I wanted it which was medium well. The service was very good I was seated quickly and my waitress was attentive and helpful. The food came out in a timely manner. The ambiance is like a Irish pub of TGI Fridays designed it. Been coming here for happy hour on and off for a couple of months now, watched some knicks games here, the finals, FIFA etc. The bartender Nico is amazing and makes the place what it is. Super personable, outgoing, just a delight to have at the bar. He can make a mean drink also. Even if the food doesn't come out right, or it's cold or whatever, they just make it right. For our mains, we ordered the Craic Craic shrimp and the crispy chicken sandwich. The shrimp were perfectly crispy with a sweet and spicy sauce, served over Napa cabbage with carrots, sesame seeds, scallions, and crunchy wonton pieces, making it a satisfying and flavorful entrée. The crispy chicken sandwich featured a juicy buttermilk-battered chicken breast topped with coleslaw on a soft brioche bun. I love this local pub, glad I found it. Casual vibe, plenty of space and a big bar. They have live music on the weekends at 9pm. It does get packed and loud but plenty of space accommodate that. The other side of the bar (further from the stage) is better if you're less interested in music. Good service, attentive staff, skilled bartenders. Variety of drinks and draft beers. Their summer special menu is pretty good. I enjoy their food, menu has plenty of options. My favorites are Cobb salad, shepherd's pie, also decent burgers. Reasonably priced. Went to The Shannon Rose recently with a friend to dine and listen to a band. We were warmly greeted and seated right away with menus. Our drinks arrived quickly and were great. I decided on nachos which I hadn't had in a long time. They were plentiful and delicious. We moved over to a side bar space and bar stools to watch the band. Unfortunately my friend's beer spontaneously jumped off the tiny bar space and drenched me literally head to toe in beer. So I ended my evening and headed home without seeing the band. My friend stayed to watch the band and later informed me that the exact same occurrence happened again - this time an empty glass hit my friend in the chest from the same tiny bar/shelf surface. According to the wait staff, this is a known issue, the vibration caused by the music system apparently somehow turns beverages into lethal messy missiles ruining clothes and fun evenings. Shannon Rose management, please address this known phenomenon and call in a carpenter or a priest! read more

The Shannon Rose is a no frills Irish pub. We've been numerous times throughout the years, usually to grab drinks and appetizers with friends. Anytime we've been, service has been solid, even when it's been busy on a weekend. For an Irish pub, this spot has a pretty large menu. Last week we grabbed takeout and it was okay, I ordered a chicken Caesar salad but it had almost no chicken on top. A bummer! My husband's dish was better, he got a burger and fries. Not sure we'd go out of our way to eat here again, it may remain as more of a drinks spot in the future. read more

Had an amazing dinner with friends at the Shannon Rose. Our waiter John was super!! Knew the foods and was very attentive to our table. The staff and servers are very friendly. We went there late last night (10pm) with a party of 9, yes quite large and late... ordered food for kids asap and dinner and drinks for the adults. Kids food came out in about 15 min which was good, but the food was cold, sent it back for reheating. Our food took about an hour to come out, way too long... food used to be better, not certain what happened to this place in the last year, still love the atmosphere and service, but won't bring large party moving forward. Went here with my parents for Saint Patrick's day weekend. How disappointing. Maybe if you want to drink stop here, but don't give these people your money in exchange for food. Also, it's in no way remotely authentically Irish. Bavarian Pretzel: 7/10. Just a pretzel but pretty good. Salty and came with a side of cheese and mustard. Boxy: 7/10. This was decent especially for the money and portion size. Pretty bland but fine enough to split with a table. Corned Beef Spring Rolls: 2/10. One dimensional and didn't work. Tasted like nothing. Dublin Pie: 6/10. Essentially a Shepherd's Pie with lamb. Under seasoned but I guess acceptable. Ask for that salt and pepper. Corned Beef and Cabbage: 2/10. I literally can't. Served with only a couple slices of corned beef along with boiled potatoes and undercooked cabbage all with absolutely no seasoning, herbs, butter, et .al. To top it off, it was cold. Not even lukewarm. Straight up cold. $25. I never return things but I did with this and the attitude was also poor. Instead of apologizing it was cold they acted annoyed while also unsurprised. Beef Stew: Subbed out the corned beef for this disaster. Tasted like that Dinty Moore canned stew and they didn't even fill up the bowl. Service again pretty subpar. It just seemed like they didn't care at all, which I've heard before from other friends who live in the area who have been there other times. Idk what their deal is but I definitely will not be returning to this establishment. I will say I've been to the Clifton location and completely different vibes and food quality. Go there. Also, to give them some rope, it was Saint Patrick's weekend (although it wasn't very busy) so maybe our experience wasn't the norm. read more
