I need to register for the classes that start tomorrow, April 7, 2026. I checked online about the class and it had good reviews.

I'm a big fan of the "Our Woven Community" program. It supports refugee women with opportunities to make and sell beautiful handbags, scarves and other items. I recently bought two tote bags as gifts for friends. The bags were lovely, unique, and each one included a biography of the woman who created it. My friends loved them! Our Woven Community doesn't have an official shop space in the Burroughs building, so I called ahead and when I got there the receptionist showed me bins full of items for sale. They also sell the products online and at craft fairs, farmers markets, etc. Half the proceeds go to the women directly, and the other half pays for supplies, equipment, and entrepreneurial skills training.

The building is beautiful, always clean and has an attendant in the front when you enter. The meeting space in each room is perfect. The quality of the sitting and space to do presentations are great. Everywhere I've been in the building is always clean, including the bathroom. Definitely a great value to utilize space here.

The employees are helpful, facilities good quality, and hours convenient. There are always a ton of fun programs offered: cooking classes, arts and crafts, swim and fitness lessons, babysitting and life guard certifications (look for them out patrolling local lakes in the summer!), dance for kids and adults, guided nature walks, etc. etc. You can even host a birthday party here! Most importantly, this organization does such vital good work for our community - from providing excellent childcare and day camps for families to offering free community suppers and discounted memberships to those in need. People of all ages and backgrounds can find a deep sense of belonging here. I truly appreciate all the work the staff and volunteers do for the people of Great Barrington and nearby towns.

The problem is that their policy is to sic a collection agency on you if a payment problem occurs. I had a monthly membership and lost my credit card. Every other company with which I'd set up auto payments sent me an email with a few days grace to set up my new card. I never got an email from Berkshire South but did get a dunning letter from a collection agency. I live in town too small to have postal delivery, and I don't retrieve my mail from the post office daily so I missed the letter. I eventually got a call from the collection agency and that day drove to Berkshire South to pay my monthly fee (plus a $20 collection fee) and set up my new card. I got another call from the collection agency a couple of weeks later and drove to Berkshire South to see if they could get the collection agency off my back and if there was a way I could join on a monthly basis that wasn't automatically billed. The receptionist told me that the membership manager had just started a phone meeting, so I took her card to handle the matter over the phone. I left two messages for her - her title is Membership and Rentals Manager. Neither call was returned. So I called the collection agency and was told that Berkshire South had called them and I was no longer on their books. So that's cleared up, but I don't know if there's a membership set up that would work for me. I left what I hope is a final message with the Membership and Rentals Manager asking her to cancel my membership - unfortunately, that seems to be my only option - and to inform me by mail or phone that it's been cancelled. I really hope I get an email or a phone call and I'm wondering if I should just cancel the auto-payment and hope they don't sic a collection agency on me again.

While we were there, Chief Operating Officer Mark Colbert gave us the Pro Tour of MakerSpaceCT. We encountered many other friendly and talented people while we were there. Count me among the impressed. You wouldn't believe all the things you can do as a paying member. Wood working. Steel working. 3-D Printing. Podcasting. Computer work. Clothing design. Robotics. Robot fighting. Ping pong. That's right -- ping pong. All sorts of fancy equipment and knowledgable people. I'm sure I missed lots of other things. In addition, you can sign up for classes to develop skills. Those skills may help people in their careers or personal lives. Five Stars

This place has so much cool things from sewing machines 3D printing metal working and woodworking. State-of-the-art computer lab. You say you don't know how to do any of that will they have some of the best in the business to teach you. They have classes and also memberships somewhat like a gym. They also provided with additional cost the materials for each area. You can also bring in your own stuff to work with. They also provide safety gear which is a plus. We watched the state of a dark wood cutter cut out custom parts for Capital Hearts event that was going on later on this month. It's pretty cool to see the design go from the computer to the machine to the wood. Which we ended up painting at the end. I definitely want to be checking this place out at a later date to maybe do some 3D printing for some future cosplay they also even provide sewing machines as well. I love the fact that you can actually take classes in Woodworking and Welding as well learn 3D printing and advanced 3D printing with movable items.
