What a great excursion this was! Makena Coast Charters made us feel so welcome. All employees were kind and helpful. They started on time and we got the full 3 hour experience. They did everything they could to help us find sea turtles by even moving locations to a place where they knew more sea turtles might be. What an amazing day! There are many tours to choose from but after reading the reviews we chose Makena Coast for our molokini snorkeling adventure. And we are SO HAPPY that we did! It leaves out of Kihei which was a plus, and it's a small boat so the tour group was only about 16-18 people. Joe and Lucia took amazing care of us. You can tell that they love their jobs. The snorkeling was incredible! And we got to see amazing whale watching on the way back. Joe even took extra time to really seek out the whales on the way. We saw so many!!! For the record- molokini is a really overrated snorkeling destination, same fish at airport beach But turtle town was incredible! We even got extra sandwiches when we asked from the provided lunch. The Crew Were Fantastic. Both knowledgeable and comedic, enhancing this wonderful experience. You really felt that they were there to bring us our best experience possible and not just a boat traveling you from point A to B. They started us off with the beautiful, amazing Turtles first. A, to avoid the crowds, who all went to the crater first, and B, to give the crater time to clear up from winds and clouds. Their strategy worked. WE saw so many Turtles, and just as we were leaving, you had a bunch of kayakers and other snorkelers arriving. WE got to an almost empty crater where we were able to see so many fish with little interruption as the crowds all went to the turtles. WE even had a bonus of seeing some whales. The staff is organized, the booking is a breeze, directions are clear including a map they send with photos of where to meet. Our Captain was Keoni, along with Megan and Logan, to actively assist with anything from sails to grabbing you a water or snack. I booked our trip and like most people scrolled threw without Reading! We noticed afterwards, there was a weight limit of 300. But, don't be discouraged! We called and the office staff offered a Great accommodation with another boat in their fleet, that had a ladder as seen in the photo for easy access to the ocean. You will feel secure on this spacious catamaran,don't worry about sea sickness because the sway is steady. There was no pressure to jump in so you can stay on the boat and tan, if you just want to hang out for the view. We Loved It! Try It YOLO! read more

We had a tour with Joe and Bryan. Kyle was the on-board photographer from Submerged Underwater. This crew was top notch. Clear explanations were given. The snorkeling equipment available for use were in great condition. They made sure that everyone's equipment fit well. They were eager to ensure that our tour group enjoyed themselves. We went to the Molokini crater and then the "Turtle Cleaning Station". Many fish to be seen at the crater. So many turtles to see at the cleaning station. The perfect morning, with a great crew. I did some research on what charger I wanted to take for my snorkeling tour. This was my choice, and it didn't disappoint. From the very beginning at 6:30AM for check in, both crew members made me feel at home. Boat left at 7 on the dot per schedule and ventured off to the first snorkeling spot. This was at the crater and the boat ride was only 15-20 minutes. Water was smooth sailing and man let me tell you, this was an amazing experience. We docked in the half crater and the water was at a standstill. Fish everywhere the eye could see. I think the best part was the information we were being given throughout the trip. Jess is a book of knowledge and come to find out she works at the local aquarium. I was very impressed and learned a couple new facts along the way. We stopped at turtle town for our next stop where we had snacks and Lunch. Proceeded to hop back in the water and swim with about 5 different families of turtles. The water clarity was perfect and the reefs were beautiful. I recommend this charter to anyone wanting an intimate experience on the water. read more

Such a fun trip on The Getaway! Probably the best snorkeling we've done in Hawaii! So many beautiful colorful fish by Molokini Crater, and lots of turtles to swim with at Turtle Town. We were lucky enough to see some whales on the way too. Best part of the trip? The crew! Sam and Jess were so helpful and so fun. They gave detailed instructions on how to snorkel and made sure everyone was comfortable (even people who just wanted to hang on the boat.)
