I wish this business had more reviews, because they have been the absolute best to me and have really taken care of me and my car since I moved up to Indianapolis. Having a mechanic you can trust is worth its weight in gold (an especially as a female) and the guys here have proven themselves to me. I was going through mechanic recommendations and none were working out for to - to the point that I would still drive an hour down to southern Indiana to have my old mechanic service and check my car. I finally had some issues that didn't make sense for me to travel that far, and when I took it to Makeshift, they were upfront with what they saw and their recommendations. Not only did they explain their limitations for that particular issue, they did their best to help me get it where it needed to go. Having an older car, my car has had a few more issues since then and today. They have fixed me up nicely and quickly and always had the patience to explain everything to me which has filled out my auto knowledge. They guys here have always been very upfront with me and I would say every time, my car is returned better, so I'll be staying with them for a while! read more

These guys bailed me out on more than one occasion. They went above and beyond when the undercarriage in my wheel well came apart, and replaced a battery when mine went unexpectedly dead. Friendly and great service. read more

They replaced a water pump on my car. My water pump is tied into my timing chain. They had my car for a week to begin with. Then they messed up my car ( the timing) My car was making a noise when I picked it up that it didn't have when I dropped it off. I took it back but they acted like they didn't do anything wrong. Well here I am 1800 dollars later. All over getting a water pump replaced. Do not take your vehicle here. It might be a big mistake. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Makeshift Garage truly saved the day for me (and saved me from a ton of stress!) I had taken my car to Firestone the day prior in regard to some squeaking noises that happened right after I got repairs done at another location. Although I suggested that, given the repairs that had happened right before the squeaking began, that this issue could be a loose spark plug, Firestone didn't check for that and instead recommended I went to a place that worked on engines because they thought there was a larger issue within the engine. I am so glad that I found Makeshift Garage when researching places that work on engines because they listened to my suggestion about the loose spark plug, found the issue on the spot, and had me on my way within 30 minutes! Justin and Andrew are extremely knowledgeable, understanding, and worked efficiently, and it meant a lot that they listened to me. I needed a repair on my car, it needed immediate attention so I gave the closest car repair shop, makeshift garage, a call. They were kind enough to take a look at it that day. While I was at the shop they detected the issue and talked me through solutions. Before they did anymore work to it, I received a call from the two that with my consent they would fix something else that they saw as a problem. I loved their process and customer service! My vehicle was jerking and leaking oil so I thought I was going to have to dump a ton of money into it to fix. However, after Drew and Justin looked at my car they determine it needed a valve cover gasket and oil sensor. They did a bunch of other work and much to my surprise it cost less then half of what I thought it would. I can't thank these guys enough for their professionalism, honestly, and extremely fair prices! I will definitely use this shop for all my car needs. read more

Each time I need my van repaired they have always fixed it in a reasonable time at a very fair price compared to Fires***e and others. They have done 3 successful repairs on my van and I wouldn't trust no other garage to do any of it! I highly recommend the shop. read more
