I have been doing business with Makestar since 2008 and have no complaints up until now. Took my Jeep TJ in for a new clutch on Jan 2022 and paid $1765. In Nov 2022, started to hear clutch chatter so took in under warranty as I suspected it was the clutch release bearing. I left it overnight and next day Steve said it was the input shaft bearing without even removing the transmission. I decided to check it out with the help of my brother so we installed a new clutch and discovered the clutch release bearing had failed so Steve was wrong. Now onto the rear main seal! On March 2022, I took my 06 Jeep in for a rear main seal and a new oil pan. It took them almost one month to do the job. They tried different oil pans and multiple gaskets and could not get a leak free rear main seal. Finally, they said the best they could do was a dime sized leak so I picked up my jeep. While driving, I started smelling oil so I got under the Jeep and they took a couple of hangers and attached them to a shop rag to stop the leak. Again, my brother and I decided to do the job ourself. I bought a Jeep oil pan on eBay with the baffle, the stock gasket, and a fel- pro rear main seal and got it fixed the second try. Not a drip! I took the Jeep back to Makestar to get a refund for the oil pan and oil pan gasket. Makestar offered no refund for their terrible wok. Moral of the story! Do your own work! Their mechanics are not to be trusted! I will be taking my business elsewhere! Stay away from Makestar unless you need something simple done! read more

Really disappointed with my experience here. First of all they had my car for a week and a half and didnt tell me anything. I had to keep calling to figure out what was going on with me my car just to tell me they still havent done a inspection on my veichle and there charging me $147 for this! On top of that they told me its going to cost me $3,100 to fix my air conditioning (yes over 3k!) This use to be a honerable buissness that I use to trust but now it seems like they are more focused on screwing there customers and not doing there job. I will not be coming back. read more

Service doesn't get much better than this. Having never been their customer before, they diagnosed my engine code and car issue "OVER THE PHONE" and walked me through the repair myself. At that point I was sold. Next time, I was at work and wife had issue with car. Just the battery, but they went easy on her. Next time, AC compressor seized and rusted out. After they replaced it, they noticed why it failed. Pin hole leak in radiator aimed right at it. They patched radiator for free. Finally, my transmission blew on the way to Vegas. I was able to call them to discuss the issue and not get snow-balled by the Vegas repair shop that I "HAD" to use. This is a family business. Nice family works there, unfortunately very unprofessional and wondering who they have hired to work on cars. I took my car because the heater & A/C wasn't working, I took it when it was colder weather so when I got it back, the heater was working and I was satisfied, as soon as it warmed up, months later I took it back because realized the A/C still wasn't working. They said it would be 3 days since they had to order a part and wouldn't be too expensive probably about $65. This is my secondary car I don't use a lot so I was fine with leaving it there. When I called a week later they said they were having a hard time with the part but would now try another place and would call me back to let me know status, Time went by and my husband called his friend and ordered the part so I called Makestar about my car and before I could tell them my husband had ordered the part and I would have it in a couple days, the mechanic who answered and knew what car I was calling about quickly told me they didn't make the parts for the A/C anymore and they couldn't get it, after he finished I told him that they did make the part and I would drop it off in a couple of days...this along with NO follow up on there part ever and a few weeks later (yes my car was there for a month and $411 later) when I inquired about my car, they said, that car is still here? If I wasn't working in Orange County and had more time to find another place I would've done it and when it was finally done and asked them about lowering the price they wouldn't even consider it. The young men that work at the counter are nice enough...I could see why they will be at their family auto shop working there as long as they could becauase customer service at a professional establishment wouldn't put up with their lac k of customer service, again, don't get me wrong, they are nice but no one there seems to know whats going on & price isn't what you will be quoted initially. All you want in your mechanic is for them to fix what's broken, do it as cheaply as possible, always be on time and most importantly, trust them. Makestar does all of these things, every time all the time. I bring both of my 4runners (92 SR5 and limited) to these guys and they are the most honest efficient mechanics I've ever come across. They will tell you what you have to fix and what can wait and they are always looking to save you money when they can. And above all, you can trust these guys. Today my mom took her car in for front shocks. Makestar completed the job at a fraction of the cost. My mom prefers the dealer to do all of her work on her 2001 Accord. Bought new, maintained well, looks great. After getting her estimate she felt the savings justified not going to the dealer. We have both taken our Hondas here in the past. Her first time here they fixed her drivers side window. Perfect. My experience here was a turn signal light that stayed illuminated. I'll definitely go to Makestar again! These guys are real mechanics and not just service guys trying to up-sale customers like the big dealerships do! I finally took my car to Makestar Automotive a few days ago when my air conditioner fan quit blowing. I'd called Honda and they quoted me $250 and Makestar quoted me $150. I took it to them and Steve Sr. was awesome. He went picked up the part and had it installed and us on the road in an hour! My first experience with them was 2 years ago when my key was stuck in my ignition. The Honda dealership quoted me $700 for parts and labor. I asked if they could just replace the ignition and they said no. I looked on Yelp and found Makestar and called them. They didn't do that kind of work but told me of a locksmith to take it to and they replaced my ignition and the whole thing cost $125. read more
