Im assuming they changed ownership because when I initially walked in, and although the host and waitress were polite and welcoming, the faint aroma in the air was a bit spoiled, if you will. This place was my go to in high school, I used to come here with friends and it was delicious. I don't know what happened in four years but the quality has changed. My family and I were in the area and decided to come here for dinner. We ordered a beef udon, 4 sushi rolls, and a calamari. The beef udon was overly salty with sad little nuggets of beef and the noodles were hard. The rice in the sushi rolls were mushy and the rolls weren't rolled tight. The imitation crab in the california roll was sweet? The calamari dish cost ten dollars and we got like less than ten pieces of calamari. The service was also terrible, we waiting for a long time before someone took our order and when it came time to pay, they made us do it ourselves instead of taking our card. Ehhhh. Nothing special. I remember coming many years ago. Today, I needed sushi and I was in the area. I asked how many pieces where in a Chirashi Bowl. They said 16 pieces. It came with salad and miso soup. Placed my order. It looked good, until I saw the 16 pieces of fish were very small pieces from the regular size. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad. 3.5-4 Stars for Makiyaki. My mom and I really like their lunch bento boxes and sushi. We often order their Teriyaki Salmon, Teriyaki Chicken, Tonkatsu, Vegetable Tempura appetizer, CA Roll, and Samurai Roll. All were prepared really well with quality ingredients. The only downside was that the portions for their bento boxes and entrees were pretty small for the price. Even the rice that came with the bento was barely be enough for one person. So if you're limiting your carbs and craving Japanese food, this might be your place. Now on the flip side, I actually liked that their rolls weren't primarily rice like some other places, so that worked out well. A family favorite was the Samurai Roll, which was deep fried with Salmon, Avocado, and topped with Unagi. We never had this roll anywhere else, so the combination of Salmon and Unagi was nice, flavorful, and different. It was also perfectly fried just like their Vegetable Tempura. So the Bento Boxes were good if you want to try a variety of things from here, but if you're really hungry, I'd recommend going with their rolls. read more

If you have bad eyes bring your reading glasses. Their menu has the smallest print! Their menu selection has expanded from my previous visits in the past. And it makes it so hard to choose!!!! This is our go-to for local and affordable sushi and rarely disappoints! They accommodate my husband's avocado allergy really well every time and pack his rolls separately when doing take-out. They have some good combo meals and a bunch of creative rolls as well as Bay Area classics (like a 49ers roll). The nigiri menu is pretty standard but well-priced. It's been hard finding really good Japanese restaurants in the east bay especially with kids and all their food quirks. We ordered on Uber Eats and the food arrived within 30 minutes. Everything was packaged nicely. Even though the bento box didn't have tempura like we would prefer, my sons really loved the teriyaki chicken. The salad dressing was delicious. My kids also loved the miso soup. They gave extra! The salmon don had a lot of rice. I don't know how anyone could finish that much rice. The salmon was very fresh and that's all that matters sometimes. What blew me away was the Summer Love roll. Sometimes rolls have that same taste and all the flavors blend. The location is pretty close to our house. My hubby and I came here for quick lunch. They have lunch menu. My hubby got himself sushi over rice and I had bento with 3 items (salmon teriyaki, tonkatsu, & california roll). Both portions were decent to us. They served us miso before our lunch came. We didn't wait too long for our food arrived since the restaurant wasn't busy around 2.15pm. We're enjoyed and shared among our food. Their sushi were really fresh and the tonkatsu did a good job with deep fried. They also separate the sauce for the tonkatsu, I think this is a good way for customer to dip the sauce how much they want to. I also like the salmon teriyaki as the way they did. They told me we couldn't order lunch anymore but my cousin who came in 7 minutes after me got a lunch special. Okay I didn't say anything. Waiting on my two orders. I thought teriyaki sauce was to be cooked on the chicken for marinating and caramelization purposes. The tempura was heavily battered. They even sliced a sliver of bell pepper and throw it in there.
