Salmon sushi rice, each overloaded with densely packed rice. sashimi next to the rice showing the quantity

Double to nearly triple the rice now on their sushi pieces. We're bursting at the seams and I've been here for at least 5 years and it's reached the point that I had to finally mention to my waiter. We didn't even order a second or third round since the first initial 'normal' order couldn't even be finished. He escalated my concern to the manager and the quick response was a shoulder shrug and that this is the expectation now. If this is the norm now, as confirmed by the manager, we will not be coming back.

Went with friends this weekend and did a la carte menu. Food was great as always. We normally do the ayce but wasn't too hungry this time so decided to try out something new. We all enjoyed it. Service was quick and friendly. We kept ordering more as if it was ayce. Had a fun evening. Thanks to all the staff for their hospitality!

We came here for AYCE sushi. The price is pretty good and they have plenty of options. The food was great and quality seemed good. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here as the servers were nice as well. My only complaint is that the bathroom was sticky/dirty which usually indicates that the restaurant doesn't have great hygiene.

Makoto restaurant serves fantastic food at an excellent price point. Despite its modest decor and small-business charm, the staff is warm and attentive. The extensive menu provides high-quality options. I've visited with friends and family numerous times, and it's BYOB-friendly.

Good service, need reservations, rolls are ok. They have a lot of rice, so you get full fast if you eat all the rice. In terms of ordering just sashimi, i say stick to the safe choices like tuna, toro if available and salmon . Avoid white tuna as it was spongy ans somewhat soggy, I suppose if you take this place at face value of all you can eat and bring your own wine or beer, we certainly have a winner. If you are looking for high quality Japanese, go somewhere else. I did like the warm eel roll, and the spicy tuna and jalapeño roll, both were very tasty. I broight wine and beers and they were happy to provide glassware for the wine. Place does get crowded Friday nights. I love mackerel but the one here was way too fishy for me. Kids love the food, nobody goes home hungry, you even get ice cream. Parking can be difficult during dinner time 630-8pm and if you dont have reservations, be prepared to wait. Staff is very accommodating!

We ate here on Friday night and it was a bit of a wait...but well worth it!! The food was tasty and for an AYCE sushi the food was very good. Between my 3 sons and I we ordered 11 rolls, 20 pieces of Nigiri, crab rangoons, tempura shrimp, and egg rolls. Can't complain about getting all of this for $120 plus tax and tips.

I read about this place on an article that named it one of the best sushi restaurants in Jersey and was super excited to try them. I did not know they have an all you can eat menu and they are BYOB. Makoto is a small sushi restaurant that by first look is not a date night restaurant, but most of the people there were on dates and you can tell many of them go their a lot. Staff knew most of the people who walked in. For a great price you can get a soup, salad, appetizer and unlimited sushi and ice cream. To start we had the seaweed salad, kani salad, scallion pancakes, crab ragoon and lo mein. I cannot remember all the names of the rolls, but they were all delicious. We were so full we did not have space for dessert. Definitely a great fine!

Rolls were good. One of them had some weird sauce that tasted expired

This was my second time here and I was not impressed. The time before this, I don't really remember because nothing was just that memorable. So, I had to give it another shot to make sure lol. They say first impressions are everything. When we came in, we were not greeted. There was a pick doing pick up in front of us but after he left, the waitress/hostess just continued on doing whatever it was she was doing. After 2 mins of silence, she finally looked up and said we can sit anywhere. Ok? You could've said that in the first place. It took the waitress quite a bit to come to our table with the menu. Which was a turn off instantly for me. Anyways, we had opted for the AYCE and they did not offer as much variety as I am used to other sushi AYCE spots. The seaweed salad and kani salad was a waste of stomach space. They basically drizzle mayo on the kani and called it a day. I had ordered the grilled squid and I kid you not, they put 4/5 pieces of squid on a huge plate. It looked like the pieces were scraps. The sushi rolls were pretty okay. My favorite was the special one with the soft shelled crab, everything else was just bland. The sashimi were cut into small pieces and was just not satisfying. Overall, there's too many sushi places to visit in the area. This one did not make the cut on my list. I would've made the travel to visit here if things were different.

General Tso's Chicken Crab Rangoon shrimp tempura egg fried rice

the food is always a banger.. i love it so much. the only thing i did not like was the general tso chicken. the service is good HOWEVER do not go on a friday evening. the place is small however it can get overwhelming for the workers to remember everything you asked for. the place is fancy but very cozy and calm for friends or a family night. 10/10

Makoto has great service to go along with great Chinese food It's hard to find a decent spot in this area, but makoto made it easy! The chicken and broccoli was on point And the sesame chicken was crunchy and delicious The crab rangoons were tasty and hot And they even gave us dessert on the house! The hospitality was great, as we sat in to dine. It was quiet and nice. No one made us feel rushed. And anything I needed they were there ready to serve us Even as simple as dropping my chopstick and someone wash right over with another pair for me Thank you for reminding me of the art of hospitality, making food with love, and greeting us with a smile Best of luck to you

    Chicken Teriyaki
    Hector S.

This place is somewhat small but it is amazing. The all you can eat special is fantastic. Their sushi is good and their appetizers are good as well. I enjoyed the beef and chicken satay a great deal! Likewise, their entrees are good! I enjoyed the sesame chicken over the general tso's chicken. Their teriyaki chicken was pretty good as it was strips of chicken with teriyaki sauce drizzle on top. The service is somewhat slow and the sushi can take a while. Nonetheless, the all you can eat special is fantastic and I will come here again for sure. Also please note that they might charge you a dollar for each piece of sushi or other food you don't eat. At the end of the day it was good food for all you can eat (cooked fresh everytime you order).

Coming to the restaurant - it's huge, and the ambience is really good; they can definitely accommodate large groups. It was a weekday evening, and when we entered, only one table was occupied, so it had a very deserted look. We settled down and ordered- * Manchow Soup - it was good. 5/5 * Chicken Dum Biryani: I'm not sure why I order biryani from 'not so famous' biryani places; I might be hoping for a surprise taste - it literally failed, and they should rename it as Chicken pulav. Also, too oily.. 1/5 * Goat Sukka: should have been spicier, more flavorful. 3/5 Overall, the satisfaction level was not that high.. nothing unique, and whatever the hype about the new young chef, I did not find that interesting. 3.5/5 for me, but I am rating it as 4 just to help them grow their business.

What was once a food court vibe has been transformed into an almost upscale feeling. They have also expanded the seating area, so everyone isn't packed in that little room anymore. While the interior has changed, the food remains the same high quality it's always been. My absolute favorite is the Hakka noodles. I truly have never found any restaurant that compares. Our other favorites are the chili paneer, veg Manchurian and gobi Manchurian. All 3 are delicious, and we like to get them with gravy so it isn't super dry. None are too spicy, but they provide small sauces to add spice if you want that. We ordered on the phone and our food was ready on time when we got there (on a busy Friday night). Cant recommend enough!

The yogurt sauce was a bit of a miss for me, it felt too watered down and would be much better with a thicker consistency. The hot sauce was decent, but not nearly as spicy as I'd expect from an Indian spot. Service, unfortunately, was the weakest part of the experience. I was dining with one other person and there was only one other table of three, yet things moved pretty slowly. There were a few employees around, but the service just wasn't very attentive, and communication was a bit tough at times. They also offer Chinese dishes, which is interesting and something I'd consider trying next time. Overall, the food is definitely worth it, but the service could use some improvement.

A few logistical tips: while there is street parking, a public lot is conveniently located right across the street. The dining room is quite intimate with only about ten tables, and since they don't seem to take reservations, I recommend arriving early or being prepared for a wait. If you don't want to wait, they do offer takeout! Another suggestion is to browse their menu online before you arrive, the selection is extensive! We showed up without a game plan and needed several minutes just to decide because there were so many tempting choices! Luckily, our waiter was incredibly patient and helpful, answering every question we had. Once we decided, the real fun began. Every single item, and I'm not exaggerating, was phenomenal! We started with the fresh squeezed orange juice, which was sweet and perfectly portioned, along with a vanilla latte and a cappuccino. Both were classic, rich, and creamy. For the main course, we chose the "Chill + Qill It" Chilaquiles, which featured traditional corn tortillas topped with cotija cheese, avocado, pink sour cream, eggs, and your choice of protein. We also tried the Parkside Classic Sliders; the chicken was exceptionally crispy yet tender and juicy, served with eggs on a brioche bun. We opted to upgrade to the truffle fries, which were delicious! Although our sliders accidentally came with pickles, the staff was so kind and immediately offered to remake the dish or swap out the bun. Finally, we had the Grilled Chicken Egg Ranchero. It was like a breakfast version of nachos, loaded with beans, peppers, onions, an egg, those same crispy tortillas, and more of that signature pink cream! We couldn't leave without satisfying our sweet tooth, so we finished with the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. It tasted exactly like a fresh cinnamon roll, the glaze was incredible, and the bread was perfectly crisp on the outside while remaining fluffy inside. I honestly cannot wait to go back and work my way through the rest of the kitchen's creations. This restaurant is a absolute must-visit for their unique combinations and superb flavors!
