We went in here for dinner on a Sunday night, it was pretty busy so we sat at the bar. We were served promptly and I had the galaxy martini to drink which was pretty good. We had the Malai favourites sampler to start and it was so yummy, so fresh and great flavors in everything in the plate. We then tried the beef pho (which came with bread and herbs) and the drunken noodles, both were again full of flavour. My husband asked to remove the bell peppers and they offered to replace them with extra noodles which made him very happy. Came here on a Saturday night and only had to wait 15 minutes before being seated. The waiter was great and immediately took our drink orders while another waiter brought out complimentary sticky rice with a red pepper sauce. It was surprisingly good! As an appetizer we ordered the hot and sour vegetable soup. It was very unique and different from the usual soups you get. I almost felt like it was a mix between pho, sweet and sour soup and noodle soup. Nonetheless, it was delicious and I'd definitely get it again. For our entree we ordered a chicken bahmi sandwich and chicken pad Thai. Both dishes were extremely flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. I like the fact that the pad thai wasn't drenched in unnecessary oil. We planned on taking leftovers home but there weren't any by the time we were done. I loved my meal today. The best Asian cuisine I have ever had or at least have had in recent memory. The sticky rice that's served to everyone who dines in was so good. The dipping sauce was amazing. I had the sugar cane drink with ginger and lime and that was equally delicious. I had the papaya salad (mild) and it was the best I have had. You're lucky to have an employee such as this, I know they are hard to come by. He made our night. So we picked Teddy's brain about the menu, as we had many questions and had studied the menu ourselves before we came. We're food nerds. That's what we do. Lol Teddy had great recommendations helping us narrow down our choices. We started with the wings and tacos. Wings were crispy, slightly spicy with a hint of honey. Super delicious. The tacos were totally different, crispy wanton shells stuffed w pulled pork, they were bomb. Dinner was Bangkok street rice, peanut crusted ruby trout, Chiang Mai Noodles. All elevated flavors that only a true top notch chef could bring to light. Speaking of the chef, he hand delivered our meals and knew it was out first time to try his dishes. That was a super cool touch and much appreciated. We finished w the mango mash dessert. I've never had this dish before. It was so delicious and light. This is currently my favorite ft worth restaurant. Not just for Thai, but absolute favorite overall! I hit it up every time I'm in town and frequently several times so I can get all of my fav dishes. The Burmese tea leaf salad is to die for, and I also always order the Tom Kha, the hot & sour soup, and the yellow curry. For date nights, we get the whole branzino. 1.5 stars for great service and nice restaurant decor. I really wanted to like this place because my two favorite cuisines are vietnamese and thai. I dined at this location twice and had the worst experience with the food, by far. My first visit, I ordered the kao soi. The curried broth itself was very confusing-- chalky, yet watered down, and the aroma itself gave me a headache. It honestly was painful to eat. I ended up taking 90% of it home and tried to give it to a friend, who didn't like it much either. Second time (yesterday): I tried to go for a safer option and chose their brunch "over easy fried rice", thinking nobody could screw up that one. At first I was pleased because it was savory and edible. After eating half of it, I took the rest home because the portions were huge. A few hours later, I experienced cramping in my stomach and nausea. Ended up throwing-up the fried rice , visited a doctor today, and I am currently suffering from gastroenteritis because of the fried rice. So much for "a safe option." read more

The dish came out heavily sauced so it was a little too salty for me. I asked our waitress for some veggies to cut the saltiness. Great food and attentive service! Mainly dairy free which I love. The green curry was super creamy and filling, and came in a rustic little pot. Presentation was great all around. Their complimentary rice and dipping sauce is fantastic, some of the stickiest rice I've had! Thai iced tea was a large portion and not too sweet, which is rare! The mango sticky rice is probably my new favorite dessert in town. The combination of hot and cold, contrasting textures, and light but sweet taste is incredible. At this location, everything has always been cooked to perfection. My favorite dishes so far are the drunken noodles, ribs, and shrimp and avocado salad. Spring rolls and pork tacos are my go to appetizers and if you come early enough, the Vietnamese coffee is a must. I did deduct one star for the patio area seating is awful, the chairs are extremely uncomfortable and would much rather sit inside. Definitely give this place a try. read more

Curry and cold rainy days go together so well! I've heard so many good things about Malai Kitchen, so I decided to give their food a go! I am a little conflicted with my thoughts on the yellow curry with chicken, but I will say that it was overall pretty good. First of all, the aroma of this curry is AMAZING; you can immediately smell the fragrance of spice and most notably, fish sauce!! Thai cuisine, like most south east Asian countries, implement fish sauce in so many of their dishes, so it was refreshing to have a restaurant not shy away from using this wonderful ingredient. Here is where I am conflicted: the flavor of the curry was quite wonderful, however the flavor were not very long lasting. I believe this is attributed to how Malai's curry uses more water than coconut milk in their curries. I understand that this establishment is a fusion of Vietnamese and Thai and does a modern take on dishes, hence why they opt for a lighter and less creamy curry. However, I believe the flavors of the curry would have been more prominent and long lasting if the curry was a tiny bit more milky, displaying that iconic creamier consistency of Thai curries. Additionally, I absolutely loved the plethora of vegetables and the bite sized chicken pieces; so tender and soaked in curry flavor! My only wish is that the potato pieces were larger, they felt a little disproportionate to all the other ingredients. From what I saw, the cuisine of this restaurant is promising, and I cannot wait to dine in. I definitely need to try some of their Vietnamese cuisine! read more
