Pad Thai Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) Basil Fried Rice

First time here and definitely not the last. I love Thai food and I always base my experience on how well they make their Pad Thai. I have my favorite spots that make them so well, and some that I'll never go back to. Well, Zaap makes really yummy Pad Thai and I'll be coming back for more!! I really enjoyed it and the sauce was perfect. We also ordered the Pad Kee Mao, which was good, just light on the flavor. Their Basil fried rice was also yummy!

Rating: 6.5/10 Date Last Visited: 9/17/2025 We ordered the Pad See Ew w/ Chicken ($15) and Pad Kee Mao w/ Beef ($15) for takeout. Both dishes were very standard Thai food, not bad but not very good either. For $15, this is about standard for the quality and quantity of what I got. The noodles were cooked well, they were chewy and savory. I didn't like how the beef was chopped up like ground beef, and I couldn't really taste the beef. I can't speak much on the service or ambiance since i ordered takeout. Overall, I would recommend if you're craving Thai food and in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Food - hot, tasty, and exactly what I asked for. Busy place Just enough options, would love to see more. Small business but AWESOME Kudos to the helpful ladies up front. Clean place, very quiet.

I like the fried crab rolls. Service was fast. People working there would always check to make sure we had everything we needed and was very nice. I did not enjoy the drinks or food here. The Thai tea tasted watered down and the coffee did not have much depth to the flavor. I was excited to try the tapioca noodle soup because of the chewy texture that was mentioned but the noodles were soggy and not chewy. The noodles were breaking off from my spoon every time I picked it up. The red curry noodle soup was pretty good and had a nice kick to it. When I went for dinner it was right before 6:00pm and they let me know that the tapioca noodle dish I ordered was the last one they had. I believe the place closes at 10:00pm but their options might be limited so it might be smart to call and check what was available before driving down. The inside of the restaurant did not have much seating but it also seemed like it was a popular take-out spot and not many were looking to dine in, which made it easy for me to find seating. Be prepared to possibly not have enough seating in doors.

recently visited this spot, which seems to cater more to takeout than dine-in service. I ordered the tofu Pad Thai with level 3 spice and a Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea was pre-prepared and stored in the fridge. While I appreciate the convenience of having it ready, I typically expect Thai iced tea to be freshly mixed before serving for better flavor and presentation. As for the Pad Thai, it was flavorful, and I enjoyed the dish overall. I think I could have gone for a higher spice level next time to suit my taste. However, I did find the portion size a bit smaller compared to what I've received at other places, and the Thai iced tea also felt a little undersized. I think this spot has potential, especially for quick takeout, but slightly larger portions and fresher preparation for drinks would make the experience even better.

I have been to Zaap many times and it has always been good. However, I have to leave a 1 star review for the worst food I have ever had today. I made my husband come early and we waited outside until they opened the doors and if I could review just for the staff it would be 5 stars, but the food was just not cutting it. Especially on Mothers Day. We came starving, whatever was going to come out of the kitchen we ate but the pad kee mao beef didn't even have big slices of beef like you can see in the other pictures.....it was literally like leftover little droplets of minced beef...how does this happen when we are the first customers? Did they run out of beef? we ate all the noodles and left the beef. The heavenly beef jerky was fried to a crisp it wasn't like it normally is (usually kind of juicy but jerky-like and flavorful) it tasted like a bad burnt potato chip. Lao iced coffee was disgusting, only thing you could taste was the smokey flavor. They could not make adjustments because it was premade. Papaya salad mild was not flavorful just fish sauce and lemon juice maybe?? Half of the food went in the trash. $50 to only go and eat somewhere else after. The eggrolls were good and the sticky rice (but its just sticky rice so hard to mess up). VERY VERY disappointed. I am half thai. I have always loved this place but I definitely will not be back to this location.

10/10 would recommend! It's hard enough to find good food, but Lao food is even harder to find where I'm from. Zaap is a Lao and Thai street food type of vibe! It's on the smaller side, but the flavors are what you will come here for. On a level of authenticity, you got it right here! Service was quick and easy and friendly. I would definitely come back and try everything on their menu when I'm back in town. I wish they had a Zaap in Maryland. Keep the great tasting food coming Zaap! You guys are bringing that Lao/Thai culture to Texas and I love it!

Order at the counter at this restaurant. It is a good less expensive option in this shopping center. The food is fresh and amazing! The Laab salad was great and the yellow curry had a great flavor! The place is small and clean.

This place is a must stop if you are in the area. The food was yummy and the service was quick. The place is small so it's not that great for groups but you can always take Togo! The prices are good for what you get and the spice rating is great. I normally do a level 4 and it was exactly the kick that I needed. I had the pad kee mao which is one of my favorites when getting Thai food and it perfectly hit the spot. Great tasting ingredients and made well. I went with a friend and she also enjoyed her food. She got the pad see ew. We both agreed that it was the perfect meat to noodle ratio. 10/10 When I'm in the area, I'm coming back!

First time trying this place out. We definitely enjoyed our meal ! The riblets were a little tough but good . The rest of the meal was very good and satisfying!! We had the restaurant to ourselves except for one other table! We will make another trip back to try the ice cream lol

Came here since it is my friends absolute favorite place. And now I know why! It was delicious, flavorful, fresh, and all around a solid meal. I will definitely be back! The servers checked up on us which was very nice and helped us pick out what to eat! They have nice indoor and outdoor seating but we chose to sit outside since it was nice! I highly recommend coming here!

While the bahn mi isn't exactly traditional, it is still very good -- I'd highly suggest getting it with the pate. The sampler appetizer has a little bit of everything and is great for sharing. Pineapple fried rice was delicious. Pad Thai also great! If you're a spicy eater like me, just go for very spicy. A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.

This place is legit, the real deal! I recommend stopping by if you are in the area because it is so worth it. They are located in a small shopping strip mall thing on the Haltom city / Fort Worth border. I have had their duck, the tum yum soup, a rice noodle dish, and an appetiser I can't remember. During my most recent visit, I had the green curry with beef at a level 2 spice and the drunken noodles level 4. I love that they make sure to ask what level of spice you want on every dish because i have been to a couple of places that just make them all the same level as your main dish. In the past, I have gotten their Tum Yum soup, and its delicious. I had their pad se ew with beef, amazing. I had their spring rolls, pork belly, and they are one favorite things on the menu. I always end up ordering more than what I can eat, so i usually order dinner here and then take my leftovers for lunch to work the next day. The service here is great; they have lots of space to host a big lunch rush. Highly recommend yall try them out.
