Solid, enjoyable, and definitely deserving of a respectable 4/5. No complaints there. The real standout of the evening, however, was the refreshingly brisk dining atmosphere. I didn't realize the restaurant offers such a strong commitment to keeping guests alert and fully awake through what felt like a very enthusiastic lack of heat -- both inside and outside. Honestly, by the end of the meal, I wasn't sure if I was there for dinner or advanced cold exposure therapy. Now, to be fair, it was a chilly evening outside, so maybe the restaurant was just leaning into the full seasonal experience. Very immersive. Overall, good food, popular spot, just maybe bring a sweater... or a parka... depending on your tolerance level. We first went to Malbec Grill on 3/5/2021 and found it wonderful. The atmosphere was nice, it was a fine restaurant. The food was delicious and the service even better. The owner came to the table and thanked us for coming, and even gave us 2 gift cards to return. We were so impressed we even bought the steak knives. We have been back 4 or 5 times since and this past spring we took advantage of the 2 for 40.00 special which was ok but a little rushed. Last night we went hoping to have a nice meal and night out. But Malbec Grill had different plans for us. We arrived at 6:15 as per our reservation and were seated right away. There were only, maybe, 4-6 tables occupied. The waiter pointed to the QR code on the table for the menu. We asked for a printed menu. He told us they don't have one and we must use our phones. Sort of like a McDonalds take out order. Classy! I was surprised they also no longer have table cloths and linen napkins. Paper will have to do! We ordered a glass of wine and started to read our phone menus. When our drinks and two pieces of bread arrived, we were asked what we wanted. We said we will start with the Provoleta. We waiter said we could order the rest of the meal and he wouldn't put it in since we did not want to be rushed. We added a wedge salad, skirt steak and surf and turf. Like magic 2-3 minutes later the server is standing there with both the Provoleta and salad. Ok I guess we will have them together. But we could use another 2 pieces of bread. The Provoleta was delicious and the salad was also good. The real problem arose when we were just getting into the cheese and salad, Our steak and surf and turf showed up! We told them to take it away we were not ready. I myself was 100% done at that point. They asked if they could box it up. Really? Are you kidding me? A nice medium rare steak in a box to "enjoy" later. We asked for the check for what we had eaten and said we were leaving. The manager came over and asked what they could do. Nothing anymore! Last minute work dinner and it did not disappoint. This would be my 4th visit, first two were for Christmas parties, one date night and this evenings work meal. Every visit has been wonderful but tonight just had a little extra kick. It was quiet for a Thursday evening but that didn't stop the kitchen from getting the job done. I started with the margarita and opted for no salt foam, super delish and presentation was A1. For the appetizer I ordered empanadas, one onion & cheese and one chicken. Our sweet waiter welcomed the table with warm bread and butter, also comes with a bowl of chimichurri. For entrees due to the rain the daily meat delivery had not made it, normally I'd go for the filet but this evening switched it up to a NY strip. Even with the crazy rain this week has brought us I was delighted to arrive at dinner to the most beautiful rainbow. It was very noisy, the food was mediocre, and the service left a lot to be desired. We ordered a Garden Salad which, much to our surprise, came with Feta cheese, which was not mentioned on the menu, and the server would not take it back. The shrimp scampi was not garlicky and was full of cream. The best thing that we had was the chocolate mousse. We asked for a manager to come to our table, but no one did. In short: A local steakhouse serving unique drinks and exceptional meats I came here on a Friday night after having them booked marked for some time . They are tucked away in a sleepy Parkland plaza and there's a huge cow statue storefront so you know exactly what you getting into (Vegetarians, Vegans, and the non-beef collective should avoid lol). Ambiance: dimly lit and definitely has a romantic feel. Each table has a candle and a red rose. Very nice touch. Walking in was a bit confusing because I didn't see a specific hostess stand. The bar (which was empty mostly) is directly near the entrance. It's an open kitchen concept , which I like. It shows that they are transparent with how they handle food. The dining area is open as well, I commented to my companion that it actually had a Macaroni Grill feel to it. The menus are viewable by scanning a QR code on the table (which I don't like and is tacky at this price point, this isn't Outback, but this is subjective) or you can have a tablet with a viewable menu. They have a nice selection of wines, cocktails and are known for their signature drinks. I'm a sucker for a good food/drink show so I ordered their smoked speciality called the pink dream. The bartender came out and put on a dope show. The pink dream was as scrumptious as it looks. 10 out of 10 would order it again. The house rolls are yummy and come with chimichurri sauce for dipping...very good. Appetizers: we ordered the two empanadas and the grilled provoleta cheese. We got one chicken and one beef empanada. They were just okay... I've had worse but I also have had way better. But the provoleta!!!! Oh my!!! It was amazing... it can be eaten with bread or just as easily alone. I would order this again and again! With dinner I did order a Malbec to go along with my steak. The server gave me an excellent house Malbec and it paired nicely. Mains: This steakhouse is influenced by the Argentinian and Latin American cuisine so I could not leave without ordering the Picanha. We ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. My companion ordered the rack of lamb, I tried a small bite and that was perfect. He inhaled his .. haha. Each plate comes with a side, we got onion rings and the broccolini. The broccolini was cooked perfect and not overdone. All and all it was a good experience with good service. I took one star because I believe the empanadas could've been better, I don't like the scannable menus, and the server brought us our containers to box our own leftovers. Which I understand some ppl prefer to do this themselves but I think it shows quality service. I worked in corporate Italian (yes it was macaroni grill) in my college days and I would do it table side for my guests. It's not a huge deal but if management would like their restaurant to bring more of an experience this is something to think about. We love this place. The food is amazing. I always go for the skirt steak which melts in your mouth. The mashed potatoes are nice and fluffy. The bread is soft and warm. The Brussels sprouts sweet and tangy. Everything I've tried on the menu is fantastic. The drinks are fun and fancy. Service is a bit on the slower side especially the bar but that's likely because the drinks are so intricate. The Pink Dream and Climargarita are top tier. I'm grabbing takeout here during lunch for quite some time it was generally pretty good and I went in today. I picked up a chef special 30 bucks and it was wrapped in aluminum. I spit out some of it. It was very chewy. The fries look like dehydrated, garbage worse than a fast food restaurant and I can't believe I paid $30 for it and it came from a high-end restaurant supposedly. The staff there is always understaffed barely speak English. Nobody knows what to do. They never have to go utensils, they always forget to put the sauce that I'm ordering and I don't think I'm gonna go anymore because they handed me the order as if I paid already, I insisted on paying. We started off with the calamari and it was excellent, not too much breading. We ordered the pork candy appetizer and a bottle of the 1853 Heritage Grand Reserve Malbec at the recommendation of our server Kitti. The pork candy is pork belly chunks with a sweet bourbon maple sauce. So good. The wine was very good also and complemented our meal perfectly. I knew I wanted at the fiocci di pera as soon as I saw it on the menu because pear pasta is my favorite. My date wanted a steak but couldn't decide which one. Kitti recommended the skirt steak since the are an Argentinian influenced restaurant. She was absolutely right to recommend it. The steak was exceptional. The restaurant is easily located on 441 north of Hillsboro Boulevard. When you walk in you are in the bar which is decorated very cool and then walk into an open area for dinner. Friends and I started off with drinks, and all I can say is I am in love with their lychee martini! In fact, I can't wait to go get another one lol. Although their food is a little pricey, it was worth it, and pricing is on par with other restaurants of this caliber. The service was impeccable and make sure you check your bill because they automatically added a 20% gratuity. I don't mind when that happens since I usually tip 20% anyways and you do have an option to add more. My friend ordered the center cut ribeye, which was amazing, and I ordered the skirt steak, which was amazing and my other friend ordered the Seabass, which was amazing. We also got a side of brussels sprouts, not my favorite sorry!, And yummy yummy mashed potatoes. Dinner is also served these amazing rolls with the most amazing chimichurri sauce I've ever had. I am a huge fan of picanha steak but I definitely thought the skirt steak was a better cut and dish. Perfectly salted and cut into small pieces. I would recommend that. The sides were just right. The dessert was way too sweet but we enjoyed it. Saved the other half of the dessert for another time. With tip, the total bill with 4 cocktails was around $230 which I find on par for a delicious meal.
