This is an overdue shout-out to Joe - the most unflappable restaurant manager I have met in many years. Not every night can be a perfect night and sometimes stuff 'just goes wrong' no matter what you or anyone else can do. But the measure of a hospitality establishment is how those rare yet guaranteed-to-happen-one-day situations are handled. The way that Joe so deftly took care of the situation and so sincerely made 'a series of unfortunate events' right was simply a MasterClass in restaurant management that any aspiring hospitality manager should study closely and follow if they could. The Proof? After an evening where just nothing seemed to be able to go right, my wife and I are itching to go back to Runyon's as soon as we possibly can. My husband and I tried Runyon's for the first time last weekend for his birthday. I made reservations through Open Table and was asked for my husband's name. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we were greeted and sat immediately. It is quite a bustling, loud venue with live music. We would have preferred a more intimate, quiet setting, but we did enjoy the singing pianist. The servers (there were two for us) provided two menus, one regular and one daily menu. It was cool that they added my husband's name to the birthday list on the menu! We brought our own special Stag's Leap bottle of wine, which the servers gladly opened for us, with a $35 corkage fee. Hubby ordered a side Caesar and the ribeye with veggies and a baked potato with sour cream and horsey sauce. I ordered the French Onion soup and the 10oz Filet with veggies and mashed potatoes. My husband said the Filet was the best he'd ever had, and I agree with him. It was perfectly aged, seasoned, and you could cut it with a fork it was so buttery. Speaking of buttery, the mashed potatoes were decadently creamy and paired so well with the steak. Hubby's Ribeye was very juicy and had a nice crust on it as well. It was a huge portion, too! We had a birthday slice of cheesecake which was also excellent, and I'm very picky about cheesecake. Overall it was $350 out the door for the two of us soup to nuts, but it was well worth it to us for a special occasion to have amazing food in a romantic and lively upscale setting. read more

Been wanting to try Runyon's for a while, and after a nearby doctor's appointment, the timing finally lined up. I arrived early... around 4:30-ish... and the bar was already almost full. I was lucky to grab a seat. From the moment I sat down, it was obvious this place has a loyal following... and I mean loyal. The cross-the-bar banter, the familiarity, the way everyone knew each other... this is a real community spot. In some places you might feel like the outsider thinking, "How'd this guy get in here?" Not here. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely warm. A great group of people to talk with. Add in the atmosphere of this iconic Coral Springs steakhouse... family owned since 1984... and I immediately knew I was in a special place. Kiana, the fantastic bartender, let me know it was happy hour, so my drinks... ulitmately a well-made Margarita and Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay... would be half off... a nice surprise. For food, I went with the Onion Soup and their Prime Burger from the regular menu. The onion soup is a good one... rich broth, excellent cheese. The burger was prime beef and excellent... fries were basic, but very good. Then a piano player started playing and singing, which completely elevated the vibe. The main dining area is connected to the bar where I was sitting, and there's also a quieter dining room for those who prefer a more traditional setting without the music. Loved it here. To preface, we have never been here this is our first experience and it hasn't started off well. We came already knowing what we were going to order 100% in advance. They have a pop up on their homepage that literally says full menu available but surprise - only a limited Mother's Day extortion menu.. We came expecting things like chicken parm, a Caesar salad which salmon or even the smaller sized fillet. Flat out told us that the menu is subject to change then why have a pop up saying that? She finally finds something else that she likes on the menu a chimichurri steak and surprise - sold out but they only opened like not long before we got there. Came here for dinner with friends and we were lucky enough to get a reservation for a table in the piano bar. Runyons has been around since 1984. They are located between Coral Springs Dr and University on Sample Road in Coral Springs. There are a couple of restaurants in this plaza but there's plenty of free parking. Entrance is through the patio. They are known for their 40 ounce Prime Rib. Unfortunately they don't offer anything smaller than 16 ounces and if you want to share that 40 ouncer it's an additional $13 which makes just shy of $100. Still not terrible for 2.5 lbs of beef. We had a great table right next to the fireplace and it was the perfect location to hear the music and still have a conversation. We started with Hummus and pita. This was a nice smooth creamy mix of chickpeas, tahini and a hint of garlic and lemon. My husband and I shared a chopped salad. A nice selection of lettuce with heirloom tomatoes, crisp bacon, and blue cheese. Sharing this was perfect since it's large. I had the Chicken Francaise. The Chicken was so tender and the lemony wine sauce was delicious. It came with fresh string beans and carrots and linguini. My husband had the Shrimp Scampi and the garlic butter made the dish. So happy to find a great place in Coral Springs. We went to this place for happy hour--great times from 3-6, even on Saturday. Perfect parents' after-work getaway with lots of places to sit. The vibe and atmosphere are so nice, and they even had live music. Their martinis are amazing! I had the grapefruit and cucumber martinis--both tasted very good and were made with quality ingredients. I wasn't hungry, so I only had one item from the happy hour menu, the Prime Rib Sliders, which were so delicious.Our bartender, Ricco, was very nice and funny. Came here for Mother's Day because online they advertise a choice between a Mother's Day Menu and the regular menu. After being seated they tell me I cannot have the regular menu regardless of the fact that they advertised it. So, I have to order off the limited menu. So, I decide to stay and I'll do that. Then I ask for an item in the limited menu and they tell me they don't have it. Not sure why they don't have what's on the limited menu at 4;30pm. They just started taking guests and they are sold out of things on the menu...That's wreaks of bad management. I would rather stay home and cook than go out to eat at this place. Beyond disappointed! Last-minute birthday celebration with a reservation for three at 5:45 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full and lively and decorated for Valentine's Day. We were seated quickly, and drinks were offered soon after. Hot bread was brought to the table. We ordered the chopped salad as an appetizer and asked that it be split three ways in the kitchen. It was the perfect size to start our meal. For entrées, two of us had the New York strip. We both agreed that it was cooked perfectly and the sides were just right. The third meal was the French onion soup with the crabcake appetizer. Both were absolutely delicious. Sheree was our server and could not have been nicer. I grew up coming to this restaurant regularly with my family in the 1980s, but hadn't been back since--until now. Forty years later, all I can say is: what took me so long to return? I had a fantastic dinner here with a group of old high school friends, and everything was spot-on--the food, the service, and the ambiance. I ordered the prime rib, and although a little pricey, it was absolutely delicious and worth it. A generous, perfectly cut portion, cooked just right. The loaded baked potato that came with it was the perfect complement. A big shout-out to our two servers who took excellent care of our large group. The only issue we had was the first table they sat us at. It was barely in the restaurant but lucky for us we spoke to the manager and he moved us to another table. Our first time here. We were happy to find a nicer steak restaurant. Upon entering, the one guy stared at us, and said nothing. Another guy came forward and greeted us but I felt we were judged for some reason. We needed a table for two and by the look on his face , I thought they had none available. He mentioned how he could fit us in the room in the back but there was a party back there, and it was very loud. Then he seemed to have to "think" for a few moments and said- he could seat us in another room (the front area). I thought they must be packed. We follow the guy and there were at least 8-10 available tables in the front room where we were seated. Bizarre unwelcoming feeling from the male host. Our server was Michael and he was very kind and attentive. We did get put back in the corner by the working station so servers were coming back every few seconds which felt weird since there were so many tables open. Overall, the food was very good (we had steak) and our server was great. When we left, the guy up front just looked at us, made eye contact, and did not even say anything like THANK YOU or HAVE A GOOD NIGHT. Nothing. I would probably go back just for the food. I came here with my significant other to celebrate his birthday, being that he has been to this restaurant many times, and he raves about it. The hostess sat us at the piano with menus. For 20 plus minutes we did not get any attention from any staff. We decided to leave after seeing waiters interacting with other guests, and we did not get a measly "we'll be right with you" from any staff members. As we were pushing our chair back in, a waiter came over and asked, "Are we ready to eat?" I explained to him that we were sitting here and weren't acknowledged. As I was leaving, the owner spoke with me, and I let him know what occurred, and he was very apologetic about the situation. I expressed to him that it did look a certain way, being that we were the only African American guests in the piano room area that we could see, and we were not even acknowledged until we were leaving. I've been craving prime rib for a while, but I don't usually feel like having it. I searched all over town for prime rib and then remembered this place where I suggested to my friend that we have a birthday dinner, and he agreed. I ended up ordering a bone-in prime rib with a baked potato and mixed vegetables. While I was there, I also remembered that they had delicious French onion soup. My friend ordered chopped steak with a baked potato and French onion soup. I know my friend enjoyed his meal, but let me tell you about mine. We were fortunate enough to have a waitress named Kristina. Kristina has only been working there for a couple of weeks, but you couldn't tell. This server was on point and definitely an asset to this establishment. She alone would be enough of a reason to give a 10-star rating, even though the review only allows five stars. The French onion soup was delicious. From now on, when I think about prime rib or French onion soup, this will be the place I go to. Kristina surprised me with a cake and a candle and wished me a happy birthday. She truly is the complete package, so if you ask for her, make sure you tip her properly. When you first walk into the building, you enter through a patio area that's close to where people are smoking, and it's kind of unpleasant. But once you get inside, everybody is smiling and everything is running smoothly like a well-oiled machine. Occasion : date night This is a very cute place to do a date night whether it is with your spouse or with your girlfriends. I highly recommend making reservations but on this particular day we were lucky to get a table at the bar. I met one of the owners and he was really sweet and that's how we were able to sit at the bar because as soon as a couple left he went and found us. The bartender was awesome, the servers were awesome and the owner was awesome. Risotto: there was nothing special about the risotto and it honestly felt a little water down but I like the chickpeas that they added on top because it gave it a little crunch. Outstanding dinner experience. We had a 12-person dining event for the holidays, and it exceeded our expectations. This is a perfect place for a romantic meal or a large group gathering. The menu has a good variety of seafood and steak as well as some Italian food. The management is very good as they had our table ready for us upon arrival. Joe was available and present to make sure we were well taken care of. Our server Sherry l, who has been an employee since they opened, was excellent. Everything we ordered came out perfect, and we had everything we wanted. Appetizers: Lemon Garbanzo Hummus and the Wasabi Crab Dip were served with fresh pita bread. They both were creamy and delicious. Great for sharing. The Crispy Ahi Tuna Poke was unique, and though not great for sharing, it was exactly and described and very good. The Garlic Bread was a little disappointing because the cheese was not really melted, and the garlic flavor was missing. Entrees: 8 Oz. Barrel Cut Filet Mignon that most ordered was well prepared and a good quality of beef. Soft Shell Crabs were juicy yet crisp. The garlic sauce on that was so good, I wished I still had my piece of unmelted garlic bread to dip up that sauce. Chicken Francaise and Chicken Parmigiana were huge portions and also well prepared. The Scottish Salmon as a nightly special was tender and also a large piece of fish. Most all of the meals came with fresh green beans that were crisp and very fresh, as well as some mashed potatoes that I thought were too pureed. Must have been an off night because they were not very good. Dessert: New York Style Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Brownie a la mode, and the Sea Salt Caramel Gelato were all excellent and very big shareable portions. The ambiance was festive and lively. It can get a little loud with many larger parties and the piano music near the bar area. Dropped in early on a Saturday and while we did not have reservations, we were immediately seated. Ordered a few Moscow mule's which hit the spot. We started with the spinach dip and escargot. A little weak on the chips but the dip was good. The escargot were seasoned perfectly. The bread was delicious and perfect for dipping. Sean was great with his suggestions. Mom had the blackened salmon which was a bit overcooked but my friend and I had the airplane chicken and it was so different and delicious. I was able to take a portion home and it heated well. The chicken was so tender and would certainly order it again. The restaurant was packed by the time we left so reservations are probably essential. Runyon's is a charming spot along Sample Road. I've never heard of it before tonight but my favorite thing about it was the service. Service there was impeccable and they made us feel like family. The French onion soup is a must! It's the perfect combination of cheesy, savory, and bready. We ordered the steak medium because I saw in previous reviews that their steaks were too raw, but I think ordering a medium rare would have been better. The Mac was delicious- the only thing missing was a panko crust. That would have made it chef's kiss. The Wagyu meatball was yummy, I just wish there would have been several small ones instead of one big one, but it was because it was cheese filled, so no regrets ordering it. read more

The piano player provided a nice touch and added to the ambiance of the place but something was still off. The server was trying too hard. The gentleman who was at the door, who appeared to be the maître d', neither welcomed us, came by our table to ask us how things were, nor greeted us good-bye and thanked us as we passed by him when leaving the restaurant. I was invited to a bridal shower at this venue. The room size was perfect for the event and was decorated nicely. I ordered the salmon mashed potatoes and vegetables. Green beans was delicious, mashed potatoes was edible and salmon had no flavor and was extreme under cooked. I sent the salmon back and it was returned still undercooked. I ordered chocolate cake as dessert and was told by the server that it was really good and moist. It tasted like Pepperidge farm cake. The servers were very professional and accommodating. I don't recommend this restaurant for a large group unless your palate is mundane. read more
