First of all when you Oder salsa through door dash they charge you $.50 each second of all when you pay for something you expect to receive it in the order. I spent $4 on all of the different salsa's and got only 1 of them. The carnitas were dry. The asada tasted horrible. Service was very nice, the young lady who seated us and took our order was very friendly and had a big smile. The place overall looks a little worn out, like it needs a really good scrubbing, cleaning and sprucing up. Food is not bad, but I would say underwhelming, on the bland side, and the chicken for the enchilada was boiled rather than grilled. I found that odd. We had ordered chicken tacos for a business luncheon a while back, and the chicken in the tacos was also boiled and not grilled. This just did not feel authentic to me? The chille relleno had a white cheese inside that was like a block, not melty at all. Although flavor was decent overall, I like my relleno's to have melting cheese. Maybe that's just me? We wanted to taste the flan for dessert. It was very dense, and the caramel sauce did not have that authentic burnt sugar flavor. Again, it was not bad, but not the authentic, light, flavorful traditional flan one is used to. Finally, the bill included an up-charge if you used a credit card. I think credit card fee's should be for the business to absorb, not tacked on the bill for the customer. It comes across as cheap and tacky. Of course we paid it. Malecon's is The Best Mexican food in Grants Pass, OR. We just ate there tonight and the flavor and tenderness of the shredded beef was the best I had ever had. My husband had the #12 combo and he said it was awesome. I would recommend Malecon to anyone. read more

This is very solid, traditional Mexican food. They don't skimp on the cheese for the nachos as well! I loved the extra detail that was placed on the artwork. They didn't do the basics like you see so often. There is depth and vibrancy to the art. It really stood out as something special. More than anything else though, the service was supreme. My husband and I stopped here on our way from Brookings to Redding. It was Thanksgiving Day, so we were initially just happy to find an open restaurant. I ordered the Posole and the Carne Asada plate. It was my first time having Posole and the broth was so flavorful. They provided a plate full of fresh veg, like cabbage, limes and onions. The meat was so tender! The Carne Asada plate was good, but the best part was the homemade flour tortillas. Lastly, I ordered a turnover to go and I chose the pineapple filling. I fully expected the filling to taste like canned pie filling, like the filling in most turnovers, but it was full of chunky pineapple and definitely homemade. When we checked our, I complimented the young man at the register and he smiled broadly as he informed me that his mother was the Chef. We will definitely be back. read more

The Malecon is under new ownership. Upgrades made to the interior design are beautiful. Unfortunately, the warmth of the service is missing, prices have increased and the quality of the food has been cheapened. The beef has a lot of gristle, the pork has a lot of fat, and the salsa is tasteless. I ordered a wet burrito and it came with lettuce and tomato inside it and very little of any other fill. The owner is stingy with her meals. Having grown up on Mexican food, having lived in Mexico and traveled there all of my 70 years of life, I think this restaurant is an insult to anyone who eats there. What an unexpected surprise! We were in Grant's Pass for work on a really hot day. We ended up here because the very kind woman took us in 40 min to close after we were unsuccessful in getting a table at 3 other places due to the heat. Really great service and delicious food. We had a chicken tostada and enchilada combo. The beans were really tasty and the rice actually had flavor! The chicken was flavorful and the tostada was loaded with fresh lettuce and tomato. Unfortunately it was just average. Either the waitress or the cook mixed up my order and I didn't care for the enchilada ot the taco.

The portions were good. The chicken in the taco was tender, very bland, unseasoned. The taquitos we're good and came with plenty of guac and sour cream. The carnitas plate was overloaded with pico de Gallo, and just slightly less carnitas than I would have preferred. Otherwise the plate was good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Just wow! I've DoorDashed this place twice now and the food has been amazing! The first time I had enchiladas--the second time, the chile relleno burrito. By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in grants pass! The breakfast plates are outstanding and a very generous portion for what you pay. The food is fresh and authentic and the service is quick and friendly. The chips and salsa is super yummy and the salsa/ hot sauces they bring out with meals are different and tasty. My toddler loves the donuts so that gets us in the door happily and gives her something to do while I read the menu. Based on some great Yelp reviews, our family decided we'd give this place a try during an overnight stay on our long road trip. To summarize, this place is a gem that we found in the least expected place. From the moment we walked in, the staff (who are also the owners) made us feel extremely welcome. My wife and I both ordered the Chile Relleno & Enchilada combos, and it's hands down the best Chile Relleno I've ever had. You could immediately tell they put their passion into their food and the whole dining experience. The entire family thoroughly enjoyed their food. The rice is incredibly tasty and tender. She was passionate about cooking and told us all the ingredients are fresh, right down to their special Red sauce which was to die for! She explained the long process it takes making the sauce, including ordering special peppers from Mexico and marinating them in garlic first. Prices are extremely reasonable. The owners came and talked with us and were super friendly and appreciative. The place was recently renovated so it's very clean with a pleasant ambience. Highly recommend this place. read more
