This review is for the experience my loved ones and I had Saturday, February 28th. ^_^ Once again, apologies for how late my reviews are right now. Doing my best to keep up with everything.. But at least I'm able to post it now other than later. Life has thrown a Lot of me for sure. That awkwardly being included and whatnot, us girlies chose to have Thai food for lunch that day in between destinations and it was nothing But amazing! Everything was delicious and we all overate a bit now that I think about it. It's always hilarious to me when any of us allow ourselves to just Keep going. haha We all experienced food-coma for sure. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of our waitress, but she was super kind and welcoming. I hope to see her when I visit next time! Takeout/delivery for 4. Timely--correct order arrived hot. We were quite disappointed in the food. prices and amount was good but..... The Good: The Soft veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce were good, chicken satay was good-not great-chicken a bit dry, peanut sauce good. Son liked the Thai iced tea. The Not So Good: We got the "seafood enhanced" pineapple fried rice. Good amount of seafood but very dry, and not very flavorful (?needed green onions, thai basil, other flavors???). The biggest disappointment was the Pad Thai (I make my own but tough to do and not have to eat it all week with only two in the household). Volume and noodles were fine as was the amount of chicken but it lacked flavor and was very dry. Minimal peanuts, no green onions or thai basil, minimal spices (it shouldn't have to be "Thai hot" to have flavor!). The day was saved by our GF daughter in-law who ordered a veggie curry dish that had a ton of "curry liquid". When poured over, the pad thai and pineapple fried rice was much improved. read more

The food is absolutely the star! Delicious !! Tried many of the dishes and never disappointed. The crab Rangoon, while smaller in size than some places, is light delicate crispy but awesome. Curry dishes, yum. Dining area is a bit boring, leaves the food to be the star! There is often a language barrier with wait staff but they have always been kind, thoughtful and eager to please. read more

Plenty of seating all around, the food came out quickly with average portions. The food itself was good, I'm glad I went out and tried it! The table cloth had a stain present, could not enjoy the dishes to their full extent because of this. The restaurant itself was particularly warm as well Vegan friendly. read more

Would have probably gone with 4.5 if Yelp let us do half stars. Was really good. We ordered tiger cry beef, the pad Thai, and pad key maw. We also ordered a side of the fried rice. Portions were really big and food was really good. Pad Thai was hot and the pad key maw was mild. Hot was hot. But the mild wasn't spicy at all. Sauce with the tiger cry beef was a little spicy, but really tasty. Definitely have lots of left overs. Word to the wise, if you like it saucy, order with extra sauce. Will definitely go back. Our usual place is the Thai Place on 87th in OVP, but we live in Lee's Summit so Mali Thai is a lot closer. read more

One of the few restaurants with real silverware, glassware and even tablecloths! Water goblets on the table and the waitress filled them all throughout. Food arrived quickly. My husband's entree (medium spice) seemed over cooked with gummy noodles. My red curry with chicken (hot spicy level) was good. Not the best nor tastiest. Portion sizes were good. For lunch, each was about $13. But, we ate allllll of it. Hubby would give Yelp rating of 4. I can't be that generous. If his noodles didn't look nor taste blah and hadn't been cooked to oblivion, would have been a 4 for me too. read more

We all had the pineapple fried rice with various meats- the shrimp was good but nothing exciting, and if you want any flavor at all go for the medium spice level. But everything within the dish tasted boiled- even the pineapple had no flavor. It was the strangest thing. The seafood version had some chewy calamari in it- not a dish that I would recommend at all. The saving grace was the pad key mao- other restaurants call it drunken noodles. Super flavorful with a good balance of veggies. That dish was what I would come back for, again and again. So what you order here matters, as it can be hit or Miss. read more

RIDICULOUSLY RUDE when I called for a carryout order. I simply asked what was in their drunken noodle dish - the response was "Can't you look online?" When I explained that I DID look online, but the ingredients weren't listed - they responded "Well they can't write down everything!" I hung up. Our go-to Thai spot in Lees Summit area. They're authentic and the inside has a great vibe. They're attentive and their menu has the regular Thai menu choices. Their Thai tea is great but just a tad sweet so ask for 50% less sweet. read more

Perfect Thai Crab Rangoon! Delicious spring rolls - crisp and fresh. Our ladies day out included exploration of three dishes: Green Bean Chicken, Papaya Salad w/ sticky rice, and Basil Fried Rice w/ chicken. Papaya Salad has a really crisp texture and the dressing is tangy. Not what you would immediately expect but lovely nonetheless. The other two dishes are very traditional Thai offerings and didn't disappoint. Green Bean Chicken is my personal favorite and I usually opt for the hot. They did an excellent job with the heat and brought the chili tray for an added customization option. For dessert we all three ordered mango sticky rice. After ordering we questioned whether we should have shared but immediately said, "Nah, we wanted our own!" We most definitely could have shared and took home a little over one full dessert. Lovely service, fun elephant decor, and food was good. We will do this spot again. read more

When we are in the Lees Summit area, Mali Thai Bistro is our favorite go to restaurant! Their food is pretty consistent every time we go. When you walk in, to your left is a bar with seating and to your right is the main dining area. For this lunch visit, we ordered the appetizer sampler (no meat in the egg rolls), chicken lad nah, chicken pad se ew, and Thai iced tea. The food is so flavorful, and it tastes like my mom's cooking. Very authentic! Service is very friendly, and they do speak Thai and English here. Please be mindful of the service if it's a little slow. read more

We (2 of us) went in for a late lunch. Ordered the appetizer platter and asked to split an order of Red Curry--which they were so gracious to accommodate in two separate bowls. The curry came out first. I inquired about our appetizer platter and was told it was coming. We started eating our curry so it wouldn't get cold and decided to forget about the appetizer platter...because it never came. I think there might have been a language barrier going on but the server was so pleasant and apologetic after forgetting that part of the order that a person couldn't be upset. The curry was quite filling and very flavorful and delicious. Probably really didn't need that appetizer after all and saved the extra calories for another time. :) read more

They have no change so paying cash is an issue. I'm not a fan of businesses that make it a hassle to pay cash. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day? I'm in the Kansas City area for work for a couple of days, and decided to check this place out. From the outside, it looked a tad sketchy. Building looks a little dilapidated. I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp. Definitely don't judge this book by its cover! The food is excellent! The shrimp tastes good, in spite of most certainly not being fresh (this is Missouri, after all, and it would be very hard to get shrimp here that hasn't been frozen). Whoever did the cooking did an excellent job preparing the shrimp so that to didn't have that frozen shrimp taste and texture. The spring onions were crisp and had a great flavor, while the cabbage and bean sprouts offered some nice crunch. I ordered my dish mild, and the spice level was perfect for me. The amount of shrimp was very generous, I was surprised how many there were. Even the cream cheese ragoon that came with the meal was delicious. The server who took my order and delivered my food seemed genuinely happy to be doing so. The atmosphere was perfect, as well. I hate noisy restaurants with blasting music, and found the softly playing Thai music to be welcome change from the aural assault that many restaurants offer. I had some work to do after I finished my meal, and the spacious booth and table offered ample room to work on my laptop. I also did not notice any attempts to hurry me out the door as I completed my work. As a professional who works on the road frequently, I very much appreciate restaurants that allow me to conduct my work in their establishments when I am a paying customer. It can be very difficult to find a place to sit down and work when you're on the road. Five stars for Mali Thai Bistro. I have now eaten at Mail Thai on four occasions and have found it to be exceptional on every occasion. It is located in a strip center in Lee's Summit. Though it is quite unimpressive on the outside, and it is plain with interior decor, it is a strikingly clean restaurant. Greeting and service has always been friendly and efficient. The food is consistent, fresh and exceptional. Spice is exactly as advertised and requested. The menu is broad and interesting. Prices are slightly higher than the going rate for many Thai restaurants, but I believe the excellence and freshness of the food makes the cost a good investment. One star for the flavor of the Tom yum soup and the crispy tofu was good. My friend got the tom kha and loved the flavor, the only issue with both was the lemongrass. The lemongrass is cut on bias and is extremely difficult to chew. Due to it being cut on a bias it was very sharp, this could be hazardous if swallowed and I highly suggest cutting it bluntly. I suggest taking it out prior to serving like you would a bay leaf. I ordered seafood pad Thai very hesitantly as I was concerned over the freshness and quality of the seafood, I inquired about quality and didn't get much of an answer so I went ahead and tried it. The "crab" was large chunks of imitation which I do not eat so I did not try it but the squid, I think, was very fishy to the point of me needing to spit it into a napkin. The dish had a very peculiar scent and overall flavor. I thought it was just the seafood so I asked for chicken pad Thai instead. They did take the seafood pad Thai and gave me chicken instead. I then discovered that the strange scent was however they make all pad Thai dishes. I couldn't eat it but packaged it up and paid for it from sheer guilt of them making me a second dish and using their resources. The last thing to make note of was that they posted a notice regarding an increase of price on the front door. They do not, however, provide any current pricing. I ordered a cup of hot tea, crispy tofu appetizer, and ultimately a chicken pad Thai and was charged 40 something dollars. They come to the table with a Square to charge your card and provide no itemized receipt whatsoever. Not a fan. read more

I gave it 5 stars because every time I have eaten here it's always been consistently very good. And everytime I eat here I ask myself "why don't I come here more often"? I always order to go and have never dined in. So my experience is based on carry out. I order through the website with ease and the food is always prepared on time. When you first walk in there is some uncertainty as to what your supposed to do because there isn't anyone there to greet you. I usually just sit and wait until someone sees me or pace around. The ambiance is really nice and you feel like you're taken to another place. There is plenty of seating with tables and booths that align a wall. There is also a bar area that I'm not sure I have ever seen anyone sit at. But it looks like a well stocked bar. In my to go order I had the seafood noodle soup made medium with crab rangoon. The soup was awesome and they separate out the seafood and noodles from the hot broth so the meat isn't overcooked and chewy. I do appreciate that. Crab rangoon was pretty standard and quite good. I ordered the 8 pc as that was my only option and I didn't think I could finish it but they were pretty small. I do recommend eating here.
