The French Onion Soup appetizer for $12.00 in 2020.
    Glen B.

Long ago, before my time, this was an elegant tea house. Then it became a concessionary. Now finally it's back to the glory days of fine dining. We just finished the ice walk through Maligne Canyon so a light lunch would be spot on. I ordered the French Onion Soup although I was sure temped by the soup of the day which was spicy squash. Before ordering I asked if they have Wi-Fi and was told "no it's part of the wilderness experience". Fortunately I did still get cell service so I'm able to finish my review. I ordered the French Onion Soup and it was excellent. Not huge but delightful and unique. This is not your grandmother's French Onion Soup! It was listed in the menu as an appetizer and that's what it is. I certainly recommend it but don't try to make it a meal unless you are really not hungry. It was $12.00. The restaurant is beautiful inside. They didn't spare the expense on furnishings and decorations. I hope that they can make a go of it because it's not cheap but it's worth the cost if you have a taste for the finer things.

This was our first "tea house hike" and it turned out to be fake :( It was actually a restaurant, but it was recently just bought out so fair enough. The patio seating was peaceful and they even have fire pits. Even though we only ordered a light lunch of soup/chili, the dishes came out nicely plated and our server was very friendly/energetic. Both the Tomato Bisque and Smoked Brisket Chili had a lot of flavor and surprisingly filled us up. A little on the fancy side, but nice break for a quick snack before heading back on our hike.

We stopped here for lunch after hiking in the canyon. Have to say this was the best meal we had during our stay in Jasper. My wife had the French onion soup which she really liked. My son had the veggie sandwich with garlic fries which he also thought was very tasty. I had the slowed cooked beef brisket with baked beans. The sandwich was delicious while the baked beans were the best I have ever had. On top of that the service was excellent Overall a great experience.

Came here for lunch after a cold, long hike. I really appreciate this place! The aesthetics of the gift shop, the nice tables with a view and big windows, and not to mention the fireplace! The meal was surprisingly good--my pulled pork sandwich was very tasty and served on an artfully placed wooden paddle. It was nice to have the combo with the side as well. Took about 20 minutes for food to come but we weren't in a rush. Overall highly recommend this place especially after a hike at Maligne.

We thought this would be a massive tourist trap restaurant that is just there out of convince but we were wrong. Patio has an amazing view and sound of the flowing water. The staff were super friendly. The BBQ food was amazing. We had pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket. Super tender and nicely cooked. The side of garlic fries were super crispy and flavourful. The wait staff brought lots of water by without having to ask and they offered 15% if you booked the boat cruise. We are hoping to dine here again on our trip!

This provides a great respite from a long day on the lake or from a hike in the nearby canyon. Has everything you need. Mainly grab and go style. They also have a large selection of baked goods. Tried their lemonade and banana bread. The bread was amazing. The obvious stand out is the deck with amazing views of the lake. Def worth a stop.

Went here for dinner one night and came back for their lunch menu the next day. Love the food here and the trail right next to it. It was the first time I tried rosemary syrup in a drink (Pursuit's Smash Berry) as recommended by our awesome server and it turned out to be the most delicious drink I had in Jasper

This was absolutely an incredible. This is the second time we have eaten here and both times were 5 stars

My wife and I stumbled upon this remarkable find after a great walk along the canyon. We stopped and tried their high tea and were amazed by the quality of ingredients and the presentation. We decided to try dinner their too and were completely blown away! The quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation were of some of the best meals we have eaten. TIP: sit on their patio and listen to the maligne river running just feet from your table.

There's also an upstairs so I assume that more tables are up there. To start you queue up at the counter and pick your meat and put it bun. Ask the guy to recommend the rest because he's got lots of sauces. Then choose veggies and you're nearly there. We also added a coffee which was way too good for a deli. The sandwiches were delicious. The amount was just right. The bun is not huge so you won't be stuffed with bread. It can get messy because there's more fillings than bun but don't worry because there are three washrooms to wash your sticky fingers. Seriously I haven't enjoyed a new place in Edmonton this much in a long time. As for the location... Well eventually it might be okay. It's fine during the day. I highly recommend Patricia Street.

I would definitely recommend, it's a cozy space to bring some friends.

He finished it, so I can only surmise it was good. Cheesecake with berries..........................................??? This is not on the online menu so I can't really say exactly what it was. It was normal cheesecake that was flamed on top. It was definitely the most memorable dish. Unfortunately, it was the worst dish of our trip. All I can say is, it reminded me too much of my own baking (which I normally burn), except that it takes much more talent to burn the top than the bottom. My husband tried to eat the black char and I told him if he did, then he would need to schedule himself for a colonoscopy, because he'll be walking away with colon cancer if he ate it. First, more positives: I like the vibe of the bistro - there was a bar at the front and someone was just hanging out on their laptop. It wasn't too busy or crowded. I liked that they had some goods to browse through while waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. The bathroom was also very clean. I liked the overall aesthetic - modern cabin chic. The menu has the name of the chef. So I was kind of hoping for an experience similar to one I had in Colorado at a small sushi restaurant where there is no menu, and the chef creates an experience for you, and you treasure every single bite. I didn't quite get that here unfortunately. And I was on a diet (still am) and with people who don't prefer certain foods, so maybe there would be other things that I would try. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely come back and try out other things. So that's why my rating is a 4/5 and the end of most of my review. If you want to hear me complain, continue reading. Else, thanks for reading this far! So again, I'm going on my soap box: This was the second restaurant that told us that the meals were great for sharing and they recommend it, you know, family style? Yeah, no. While some of the dishes were EASIER to share than at the Juniper, they were not great for sharing. In my last review, I had thought maybe it's because there are more Asian tourists who like to family-style every meal. Or maybe this is the new trendy thing. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. Here's a new hypothesis: maybe so many of these dishes are so overpriced and everyone wants to try a little bit of everything, so they don't have to feel shame when they start sharing these small plates with each other, the servers give them "permission" to family style. The idea of tapas is great - but these are fancy dishes that don't have much substance to them and it's really hard to split some things 6 ways. At least there were serving ware this time. Finally, this is a special tid-bit to whoever reads this long review: Avoid sitting near the hanging exit sign if you are more than 6 feet tall. My brother-in-law sat under the sign and when he stood up, he knocked his head very strongly against the sign. Not good for safety. Functionality over aesthetics is what I prefer. Plus, who wants to sit UNDER something that has the potential to fall anyway? That never happens you say? Yeah, it happened to my mom. Different day, different story.

We ordered the Turkish egg & halloumi. Since I'm lactose intolerant, the staff kindly replaced the halloumi with avocado. I loved this dish! The drizzle of spicy oil added a unique flavor to the whole dish, and I never thought it would pair so well. It was delicious! However, the only downside to this place is the high number of customers. The servers might be overwhelmed, resulting in long wait times for ordering and paying the bill.
