I very rarely write reviews because I think for the most part - they're just bull shit and people write reviews as weapons for competition or friends write reviews to help out friends in business. You can believe my review or you can consider it bull shit - it's up to you. I've been to Malone with my family, and other times with my friends. I'd say about 15 to 20 times. I am sure right away the owner or the waiters will know who this is. We are always warmly greeted - and given our favorite table in the back under the red sign. (Now they definitely know who this is). I always get the exact same meal - the waiters already know. 1) Wedge with bacon 2) Bacon Appetizer 3) Dry Aged Porterhouse for 2 4) Very well done sauteed Onions (NOW THEY 100% know). My father gets the same meal as well. 1) Wedge but no bacon 2) Chicken Parm 3) Baked Potato Everyone else gets an assortment. After 15 to 20 times at this restaurant, I have never had a problem. Never sent food back. Never had any improper or unprofessional service. The waiters don't stand over us - they give us room - give us privacy. I read one review below from a Nikita S - and if you just take the time to read the review - you are not hearing from someone with any such intelligence. Just read it - "would of bin" (Meaning would have been). This is the type of review - written by someone that could get a Cartier 5 diamond star meal and found faults. Anyone with that kind of mentality - likely has no decision making going on in their lives and thus uses this powerful tool known as yelp (or google reviews) to act like an internet tough guy or girl. Again, It makes no difference to me if I come across as "friend of the restaurant". I'm just a guy that likes to go out for dinner and am glad Malone's opened. In this arena - there is no way to prove what is real - what is fake - but you can easily tell a review from Nikita is more of a personality disorder attack. (seriously, just read it...) (Corn Creme Brulee - if it didn't come out with the sugar crust - he'd accuse the restaurant of false advertising. It came out with the sugar crust - and he complains it shouldn't a side dish). (Complains about the water glass and the wine glass being the same) (Complains about the music being from the 1960s and suggests they should bring it up to the 1980s). (Lastly - please look at his reviews. They are all 1 star - this is a lonely individual who needs attention by attacking restaurants that don't deserve the abuse). Do I have any complaints? Sure - one - and they know it because I always ask for a change. The music is always too loud for me - so I ask them to lower it - and they do. DO I have other complaints? No - because after 15 to 20 times - my porterhouse comes out the way I like it - my father enjoys his chicken parm - my bacon is always great - I don't know what to complain about? We are always very happy here - and the fact the waiter knows my order feels like very personalized service. Don't always believe the bull shit out there. The service here is so good! Is this Keen's in Manhattan? No, but it doesn't pretend to be either. It's a leveled-up neighborhood chop house that delivers consistently. The service and the quality of food at Malone's is honestly wonderful. Wines by the glass selection?Excellent! Steaks and appetizers ? Fabulous! In fact, I love to sit at the bar and order a bunch of apps to share, because the portions are so big. Klevis is of my favorite bartenders in the neighborhood, and he knows how to make a solid cocktail even if you want something off-menu. Ayala, the manager and maitre d', is such a gem! She is so warm and welcoming, and it's clear how much she loves her job and how much she contributes to the restaurant overall. Have been to Malone's several times and was so impressed with both the menu and decor. Fun atmosphere and superb food. The porterhouse is spectacular. Better than Peter Luger hands down. The cut, the preparation...even the presentation is stellar. The spicy ragu rigatoni is a standout also. Along with the pork chop in shallot sauce. Additionally, the pork belly with peanut butter and apple jelly is ridiculous! So happy to have stumbled upon this place. Owner Greg is a great guy and you can tell he has a passion for the food. Let's start with the ambiance. The place has been done up nicely and I think it is better than the Embers days. You can sit at the bar, by the bar or in a separate room. Service: great service! The bartender, host, and waiter were all very welcoming and made us feel the way a business should make their customers feel. Food: my buddy got a ribeye and I got a NY strip, which I use as a benchmark when I visit a steakhouse for the first time. We split a wedge, a steak tartar and the bacon. All were exceptional and the steaks, although expensive, were cooked properly using the correct equipment. You can tell by the char on the outside. Perfectly salted, perfectly charred and perfectly cooked!! Drinks were well made. The Bad: Pricing is a bit expensive for Bay Ridge but not a problem for a great meal. A party of three that came for the first time was happy until the bill arrived. They charged us 4% for a credit card fee and then taxed that on top of it. First of all, the legal way to do this is to give a cash discount not penalize a credit card. It is against the law to charge a penalty for credit card usage but even more illegal is making it a line item pre tax then charging tax on the 4%. Guys.... I get it. This has become the flavor of the day with many businesses because many customers don't know the legality of this and are ashamed to challenge it. It is a shame to lose customers over $11 on a $300 bill. Customers that would have come back if it wasn't for the credit card hustle. If this get corrected and done the legal way, not only will I give you guys a five star, but you will have me as a repeat customer. Don't take advantage of people. It is a shame to lose customers over pocket change that is already included in your price. I am sure we are not the only ones. We all need each other out here. We went to watch the game ,there was nobody at the restaurant and we sat by the bar. The waitress Although had zero to do just ignored us. We got a drink and some oysters and some Other appetizers. My husband finished his beer and she didn't asked if we wanted another drink It was a Saturday afternoon thought the place was rather empty but we stayed to finished the game. At one point the bartender just left the bar and we were left there alone for a good 20 minutes until someone from the back came and my husband asked for another beer and the bill. I cannot imagine if the place had more than the 3 tables they had how they would function. Waiter not friendly at all. Forgot a number of things even though he wrote it down. Didn't explain much at all and clearly had zero patience. Collectively, the staff liked to look at each others phones and laugh and ignore the few tables they did have. The food was meh and completely overpriced Also had a few flys hitting us in the head the entire time. Not sure what this place is trying to aim for but the Food and Service were awful. Let me just start off by saying highly disappointed. Service was not what you expect at a steak house. From the moment we sat down I felt rushed. It's like they expected us to read the menu like the flash. Server was just constantly at the table asking for an order. Can I take in the menu for a second please. Server Popped in every 60 seconds for the order. Which was irritating me.drinks came quickly. My mule was not to my liking. Placed the order for food and the annoying server didn't come back for a while. I guess I found the trick. food came out and everything looked good except for the hash browns which honestly looked like a plate of shit . Where I took issue is the section of sides they had a corn crème brûlée. Which I thought was a play on words trying to be fancy but no it was literally a desert in the side section. It would of bin nice if the server had like given a heads up and said that's like a desert something. The steak for 109 was not it PERIOD. It was under seasoned and I believed it was only seasoned with salt no garlic butter no rosemary nothing it lacked flavor and was not cooked to the temp that I ordered either. It was just bad. The ambiance with music from the 60s I mean at least bring it to the 80s. Food lacked flavor and service was awful. Never bin to a steak house where the staff was eating at the front of the house. If you wanna charge STK and Ruth Chris prices at least match the service. Will not be returning unless they send me a list of seasoning that they put on the steak. Anything other than salt. don't even think they used pepper on the steak. And they didn't even have salt and pepper shakers on the tables knowing they don't season their food. The first word that comes to mind is...salty. The whipped ricotta was too sweet. The Dijon shrimp were too mustardy. It needed balance. The wedge salad was my favorite. The steak could've been so good, but it was extremely salty. All our steaks were. The sides could've been great too, but, again, salty. We weren't offered dessert. Decor was "60's diner." My husband and I had a wonderful late Valentine's celebration at Malones ChopHouse We loved the fried calamari it was one of the best I've had in a while, the shrimp cocktail was very tasty as well. My husband got the bone-in-ribeye steak and potato pie side dish and was very happy with it, I got the filet mignon steak and corn crème brûlée and LOVED it, the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare like I requested and I was so surprised by how good the corn crème brûlée was! Of course there's always room for dessert and I had the chocolate layer cake paired with the Nutella martini and it was I also enjoyed the dirty martini with blue cheese olives (always a nice touch to have that) and the wine selection was amazing as well. My wife's salmon was ok not the best but not the worse. The Brussels and onion strings were great. The fries were diners fries, they need to fix that. Service was great!!! The atmosphere was great!!! Yes it is pricey 300 for two people but its not more then if you went to Positano. II would go back because i really didn't order enough to make a solid review. I have no idea what people are talking about, when they complain about everything. I have been to Malone's a few times. Everytime I have been there my food is always cooked perfectly. The entire staff is always friendly and attentive. We either sit with Denise or Dom and they both are very professional and recognize that we have been there before. The price is no more or less than other places in the neighborhood. I think people think if they complain they will get free things. I have plans to go back this week. Went to Malone's's last evening with a few of my girlfriends. We were so looking forward to going since the old Embers was a favorite and so close to each of our hearts. The atmosphere was wonderful and inviting from the moment we entered. We started the evening off with a drink at the bar. Ayala greeted us and held our table with no rush. The windows in the front were open, lending a beautiful airiness as we enjoyed our cocktails. Bartender/Brian was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Although a great cocktail menu, I went with my standard martini which was perfect and enhanced by the homemade blue cheese olives. Our waiter, Dominic, was friendly and attentive. Brooklyn inside and out and really knew how to read and take care of the table... A definite keeper. We started off with a few appetizers. The whipped ricotta with honey, and pistachios was my favorite. I had the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly, and mouthwatering. Actually, all of the steaks at our table; porterhouse, strip, and ribeyes, were all cooked perfectly. There were plenty of sides to choose from. We shared the honey brussels sprouts, creamed spinach, and of course, a double order of the Embers potato pie... not a spoonful left! Overall, the atmosphere, service, and food were wonderful and I'm already looking forward to our next visit to Malone's. PS, the owners kept the old etched Ember's sign, and prominently displayed it, which was not lost on anyone and showed huge respect and a kindness that can only be returned to the new owners tenfold. Waiter was cocky & arrogant, the service wasn't special. Asked if we wanted water without telling us it was special water for a $12.00 price tag. Food wasn't cooked to requested specifications. Food was lacking flavor. Took over 45 minutes to get the food to the table, sides were extra $$$ & small portions for even 1 person.
