I had lunch today at Malt 'n Salt Fish and Chips. It's in a little strip mall. I had the haddock lunch special with a side of gravy. The batter was light, which I like, but I found that the fish and fries tasted the same ... like grease. I saw a fella hand cutting fries in the back so I know they are fresh but they didn't takes like potatoes. I ate the fish out of the batter and it didn't have a lot of flavour. I won't be back if I'm in Pickering.

Fresh fresh fresh!!!!

If you have a craving for fish and chips this is the go-to place. The fish is freshly battered and fried on order. We had the halibut and chips... the flavor and freshness were excellent. The chips are freshly cut and fried on premises. Unbeatable flavor. Give it a try!!!!

I wouldn't say I've had Cajun boiled seafood at many places prior, but I think I know where the bar…read moreis. Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

The accompanying broccolini was way under cooked (the stalks were difficult to chew). Maple bourbon salmon tasted good. The accompanying rice was cool at time of serving. Service: 3/5 The waitress was friendly but not that attentive; had to be prompted for water after the first bottle was provided. One of the meal orders was wrong (completely different dish than was ordered). The restaurant Manager came to apologize, and at the same time asked if the incorrect dish was attempted because it was apparently "delicious". We waited nearly 30 mins for the right dish- which was unfortunately the inedible ribs noted above. Then we waited 20 more minutes for our dessert which was ordered at the beginning with our mains. After 20 mins waiting we decided it was time to call it quits and leave. The waitress was apologetic for the experience. The restaurant Manager however did not stop to speak to us about our experience as we passed him on our way out. This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in years. I absolutely would not return or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ambiance: 4/5 The restaurant is located on the picturesque waterfront of Pickering. It's beautiful. The noise level however is HIGH. It is very difficult to have a normal level volume conversation. I found myself really having to focus when my parents were speaking. The parking is a nightmare. It's very very tight. Insufficient spaces and getting in/out is interesting but that's not the restaurant's fault- it's just the way it is.

Beautiful decor, attentive staff, delicious food!…read more I came with an associate for late lunch after a workshop. The staff were phenomenal. Made sure allergies and preferences were accounted for. When I was moving some black sesame on the mango sticky rice for a photo, they even came rushing over to make sure I didn't find anything unsavory in my dish. We all had a chuckle.

We all ordered one dish and the prices range from $18 - $28 depending on the protein. I tried the Pad garlic pepper beef $21. I was very surprised to find out steamed rice (extra $3) is not served with your entree. My wife ordered the Thai basil chicken and mother-in-law had the chicken green curry. Overall the food portion is decent and flavours are alright. The thai ice tea was good as well. In terms of dining experience, we had to follow up several times to get our take out order and containers. I know this restaurant recently opened about 2 months ago so there's room for improvement. In terms of larger groups of 6 people or more the menu indicates a mandatory gratuity of 18%. I am not a fan of the mandatory gratuity and should be left to the client. If you're looking for some Thai cuisine with good portions and depth of flavours, then this place might be for you. Some may find this place on the pricier side.

We feasted on a seafood combo that included lobster, snow crab, mussels, shrimps, crawfish, chicken wings, crab Rangoon, fries, and so much more! This was a big hit! With me being allergic to most shellfish, I played it safe and got a beef short rib bento box. It included California rolls, sushi, salad, miso soup, and rice. It was pretty good! For under $25 per person, this was a pretty good deal, especially for the amount of food that we got. We were all full! The decor is simple but attractive, with good spacing between tables. The place was clean and the service was pretty good.

Service is friendly and we always feel welcome to eat in with our 3yo daughter. - Seafood is always fresh and sauces are tasty. We do like the cajun spice but usually opt for the garlic butter (non-spicy) so our 3yo daughter can partake. - Seafood Fried Rice is a little spicy and not suitable for young children or those with low tolerance, but it is really tasty and complements the seafood boil well! - Osaka sushi platter, no complaints, there's a good variety and everything is fresh. The wasabi isn't top grade/authentic, but it's not horseradish (thankfully) and passable. We've also ordered on a couple occasions for takeout, the trays are well packed, no leaks, and just as full as eating in!

Portions are generous and the coleslaw and fries are amazing and complete the fish so well. I can eat just a plateful of their fries. We tried the haddock, halibut and breaded shrimp! I wish I could have shared more photos, but when the plates are brought to the table I can't resist digging in right away! The menu options are great where you can get 3 pieces of haddock or halibut with 2 orders of fries. Lots of parking and plenty of seating inside. Takeout orders are 5% off. The menu is great with so many options! We first tried Joy's 6 weeks ago - we have been back almost every week since our first visit. Some of the items you can scratch and win are , haddock & fries, halibut & fries, Joys feast special, large plate of fries. I'm sure there are more as these are just the items we have won.
