Stepping in to St Andrews felt a bit like a time warp when I was brought back to a simpler time. The decor was a bit dark and dated, there were squeeze bottles of ketchup and tartar sauce as well as salt and vinegar on each table, which is a lot less common post Covid. The halibut and chips were very good. The fish portion was a decent size, but the batter texture and overall taste were great. The fries were made exactly how I like it, thick cut and pillowy on the inside. If you like crispy fries, I would ask for them well done. The platter came with 3 pieces of shrimp and scallop each. The quality of the seafood was OK, but the batter was very thick on these. I asked for coffee and it was middle of the afternoon and only 1 other table, so they put on a fresh pot of coffee for me, which I appreciated. Overall 4/5. If your priorities are good fish and you don't mind softer fries, come here for sure. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for here.

Fish & Chips with tartar sauce. Tastes better than my photo looks.

St.Andrew's Fish and Chips is always best when served hot and eaten fresh! The great part about this fish and chips shop is their walk up order window. If you're looking for a quick bite for lunch, it's worth stopping by their walk up window to order takeout for lunch. You won't regret it. We stopped by for dinner. Possessing large appetites as it were, the dinner portion suited us (and our stomachs) much better. Plus we like the extras it comes with like the bread with butter, the creamy coleslaw and the coffee and tea. Haddock was very well made, not overcooked. The cod was prepared nicely and the chips were very fresh, as we added a splash of malt vinegar and a shake of salt. Our family loves St. Andrew's Fish & Chips and have been frequenting this restaurant for years. They have been perfecting the same recipe for decades so they know how to fry up a delicious meal.

Back on the hunt for fish and chips in the area. Tried out St Andrew's Fish and Chips ordered the Cod and Chips. Service was great and they seemed steady on a weekday for lunch. The fries were fresh and the cod wasn't overly greasy. I did find the breading to be a bit much. Overall a decent meal... might try the halibut next time . . . Cod and Chips 3.5/5 $11.46

Cod & chips was decent. The cod was fresh enough & pretty firm. The chips were authentic British chip, i.e. not crispy, with slight undercooked potato. The frying was pretty good - the food wasn't too oily. Portion was ok. They're pretty generous & thorough with sauces, asking if you want malt vinegar, tartar sauce, ketchup & salt separately. Besides fish and chips and similar dishes, they also serve Scottish dishes like black pudding and haggis, steak & kidney pie, meat pie etc. Not to forget such classic desserts as deep fried Mars Bars, deep fried jam sandwich and deep fried Oreos.

Great place in Scarborough for some classic fish and chips! I got the halibut and chips, but upgraded the chips to a poutine! The halibut was super tasty, with a crispy light batter on the outside and soft moist halibut on the inside. The poutine was also very good.

Got the family meal of 5 halibut and 4 chips. Also added some fritters. The halibut was fresh and the batter was perfect. It's been almost a year since we have had St. Andrews. It was great their fritters are a nice treat as well. There was a lot of fries for 4 hungry people. We had left over fries. They weren't for in dinning service so we had take out. They are reopening the dining room once the province allows full capacity in restaurants again. We will be back to visit once the dining room is ope.

I've always wanted to try this fish and chips place for years. I decided to come by on Good Friday for lunch. The place was quite busy and I understand why. Got haddock and chips and cod fish chips dinners. Well I can say WoW. The haddock was very tasty and the batter had a nice crisp to it. The cod fish was also very good, nice and fresh. I will definitely be back to try other fish on the menu and it won't take me years next time.

Usually this place is decent, feel bad writing a review but what a complete waste .. just ordered halibut and chips spent $30 and could not eat the fish! Absolutely burnt to a crisp total waste of money and spoiled dinner ! Plenty more fish n the sea ?

St Andrews Fish and Chips is located in one of those strip in Scarborough. I have been shopping at the Global Pets next door for a few years and I never even notice its existence... My fellow yelper said let's try Fish and Chips... hmmm You know I don't like Deep Fried food too much or non Asian food... but what the heck! I am happy that I have lunch here, not only it has reasonably priced lunch specials $6.45 each. The fish is coated in a light batter, deep fried to golden crispy colour, It is not too oily and not fishy for sure. My advice is don't order the soup.. the clam chowder is the canned type. The Deep Fried Oreos with ice cream for sure is a nice surprise! Yummmmy! Now I know where to go if I have cravings for some Fish and Chips and of course deep fried desserts!! They accepts all credit cards.

Halibut so thin it's liked they used a deli meat slicer - stick with cheaper types of fish

One of the better F&C places in town. Great batter and fresh oil. Good lunch meal deals, but lots of quirks: the lunch meal comes with tea or coffee (with fish and chips?!) and to get a can of pop is another $1. How is it $1 more expensive for the place to hand you a can vs steeping tea or brewing coffee?! It's nonsensical. Want to upgrade the fish - no can do. In short, don't come in with any special requests, as even basic ones will get you a "no". But I wouldn't bother upgrading the fish type anyway: I paid a big premium for halibut (not the lunch deal), and wish I'd stuck with whatever comes in the deal, because I tried a piece and it was just fine: tender and a HUGE portion. The halibut (which I had to post a picture of) was the thickness of a coin on one end. I know halibut isn't cheap, but either increase the price or just don't offer it - as it was I felt a little insulted. So with all these complaints, why 4 stars? The other fish types taste great, fries were great, everything they fry is great (as evidenced by all the photos of the desserts here), and it's a good value... As long as you stay away from the halibut!

I've been dreaming of having fish and chips for days now so the day finally arrived. This is my go to place near the Scarborough Town Centre located in a strip mall; only a 10 minute walk. Well, Thursday is all-you-can-eat White Fish and fresh cut chips for only $11.95 which is a real deal. Most fish places give you a small piece of fish and load on the potatoes for a ransom price...mind you it's white fish but I love food deals! You're asked how many fish pieces you want to start with...2 for me. After that, I might ask for 1 more piece which was the case tonight. The fish batter is very light "so it doesn't overpower the meat." Service was great and only a few people were dining at the time. My work friends and I come here about once a month during lunch time for their $8.95 specials. Same great food and service. I love to support small business owners and this place has been around for decades. This place is also part of the www.VacinityRewards.ca loyalty program.

Haddock and fries to the left. Deep fried mars bar to the right.
    Sophiya N.

I had high expectations of this place as it claims to specialize in fish and chips. I ordered the haddock and fries and deep fried mars bar. The haddock was yummy but nothing spectacular, the outter batter was delicious and inside it did taste fresh. The fries were very fresh tasting and i enjoyed it. It was really disappointing that the tarter sauce was prepackaged and it tasted disgusting. The deep fried mars bar was disgusting, they used the same batter they used for the fish so it tasted odd which was disappointing. Whenever i do get a fish and chips craving I won't come back here.

The fries also definitely had a store bought quality to them like of frozen bagged fries. Also, our orders were incorrect, we wanted the two piece dish with chips and he brought a single piece of fish meal. Also though the food came very quickly it was another sign we believe the food is not made in house. Ambiance felt like a high school cafeteria or an extremely casual restaurant. There was no music playing in the background and all we heard the entire time was the order taker/server was speaking loudly in Chinese to the person cooking the food. Having tried fish and chips in England, i'm someone who enjoys a crispier, oily, battered fish. While the portion for the fish was large, I just didn't find it to my liking. They have a large menu in comparison to other fish and chip spots but their haddock, like mentioned, was merely adequate. Perhaps I went on a really busy day but it was hard to get service, they were very hospitable, but check-ins were few and far between.
