I used to love this place, they have phenomenal Chile Colorado & Carnitas, but after today, I am NEVER EVER coming back to this restaurant again!!!!! My friend and I go after work, for an early dinner. I go out on a limb and order something different, that I ended up not liking at all (plate A). I flag down the waitress, and tell her that I'm sorry, but I don't care for this at all (plate A) She says, what can I do, would you like something else?" I say yes please, I'll take the carnitas. (something I know I like/plate B)She leaves plate A. She returns with plate B. I apologize again and thank her. She returns after awhile and says, "what do you want me to do with this food? (plate A) I say I don't know. She says, "do you want a box?" I say no, I didn't care for it. She says, "but the manager will make you pay for it." WHAT?!?!?! Wait wait wait. I say, but I didnt care for it, I don't like it, I'm not eating it, so this is why I ordered this (indicating plate b)She says, "yes but you still have to pay for it." She tells me she will go get the manager. Manager says, "hi what is the problem?" I say I ordered this (plate A)and did not care for it at all, so I order something else, and our waitress says I have to still pay for this (pointing to plate A) He says, IN A VERY CONDESCENDING WAY, yes, you have to pay for it. It is your plate, made especially for you. It is fresh and it is not for anyone else. It is steak, it is expensive, what do you want me to do, throw it away?" This went on for a while, and he kept talking down to me, like I was a child, "what would you like for me to do, throw it away? It was made especially for you, fresh, it is steak, it is expensive. What if you decide you do not like this (plate B , you want me to give you that for free too?" I say, no of course not. This is why I ordered something I know I like. By this time I was so aggravated that I left all the food, paid my bill and left. I've NEVER had this happen anywhere else. I basically paid $26 for one plate I took a bite of and another plate I hadn't even had a chance to take a bite of. In hindsight, I guess I could have walked out w/o paying, but that just didn't seem right. Instead, I paid my bill and left all that fresh, expensive-made just for me food- so they could throw it away. IMO, manager needs a lesson in customer relations. read more

This restaurant is huge in space and takes up an entire block. We were looking for a fast bite near I-40 and this was a great choice. We were seated quickly and a friendly waiter calling us amigos took our order. Daniel had the special dinner with enchiladas, tamale, tacos and rice and beans. The meal was so large it fit on two plates and was only $12. I had the carne asada and it was nicely presented with rice and veggies. The salsa with the chips had a nice kick and we were in and out in under an hour. There were multiple rooms, a bar, televisions and the menu says the restaurant was there 20 plus years. Everything I had here was delicious. My only complaint is that the prices were a few dollars too high compared to the smaller sized portions. I would have been happier had either the portions been slightly bigger or the prices been slightly lower. Again, everything tasted really good but, I wasn't quite full after eating the whole meal. This was my first time eating at Mi Pueblo and it was a bad experience. I ordered the Jerk Pork Tenderloin and it was disgusting. Let me put it this way. I don't think warm sour cream with pineapples is a great combination. I literally spit it out in front of the waiter. It was that bad. What I could taste of the jerk seasoning was good but when I got to the warm, super sweet pineapple sour cream....that's all it took to almost make me lose it. My fiance had their enchiladas rojos and claimed they were good. I might give them another try down the road but it's highly unlikely. A bad experience tends to make me want to stay away from this place. read more

We've lived near Clemmons for 20 plus years and have been here many times. All I can say is the last two time have been terrible; both the service and food. My daughters dish came out incorrectly and when the server came over and we told him he said yes it was wrong. Then they brought back the dish the second time and it was still wrong. I go here often to meet a friend half way between our two houses. I want to love this place more since this is our go-to place but I feel like it's very Americanized and the prices seem to be climbing. I have never found street tacos on the menu so I normally just get chicken soup or chicken quesadilla and they are good. The lunch is quick and you're able to get in and out in record time but I like to hang out and enjoy a few dos equis while catching up with my friend. Their dos equis prices are higher than any other Mexican restaurant around but every day they have a different drink special. They also have a large drink menu with all kinda of margarita flavors. I've never ordered one but that's my personal taste. (I just like regular old margaritas; tequila, lime and salt!) There are several locations all around the Triad and I've been to several. Was not expecting to hear my waiter talk like this at a Mexican restaurant. 1) I don't think I'm your "bro" - I'm your customer and I don't know you. 2) Does Mi Pueblo want to convey even a drivel of authenticity? Won't happen with servers like him. I fancy myself a Mexican food connoisseur and therefore come across dozens of different waiters/waitresses a year. Other than this slightly annoying server, everything was pretty good in my first visit to Mi Pueblo in [at least] five years. This location in Clemmons is new to me. I've ridden by it several times over the last few years but never stopped in. This is a beautiful location, inside and out. If anything, it shows that Mi Pueblo (as a chain) must run a very profitable business. The food at this location is good! Not as good as the place I frequent in VA, or as good as my favorite Mexican restaurant in Spring Lake, NC...but to stop in purely out of convenience, this location was more than satisfactory. Our hipster server promptly brought drinks, chips and salsa. He must have gotten our chips from the bottom of the bag/container because it largely consisted of small, broken pieces. Not big deal - we ate them quickly (my wife and I usually eat two baskets together - with 4 people we made quick work of this) and he replaced our basket. This time, with actual chips, we started consuming our cheese dip. The dip was good, but had several large chunks of unmelted cheese. Just nitpicking here - I did not decrease the rating as a result of the cheese dip. I had the guaca chicken for my entree. 1) The guacamole was very good. Fresh, bursting with flavor and irresistible. The chicken, too, was very good. Cooked thoroughly, seasoned to perfection and juicy, I ate all of it in a matter of minutes. This was the first time I can remember that I did not take a "to-go" box out of a Mexican restaurant. This is not to say the portions were small, but rather to convey the deliciousness of the meal. All in all not a bad experience, which is why I gave them four stars. I am sure that with a better server and consistency in their food they could achieve a fifth star. read more

When invited to grab Mexican food for lunch, its a no brainer! This location is very convenient to 1-40 and easy to get to. There is plenty of parking, even during the lunch rush. The staff here were so friendly, greeting us at the door, speaking to us as we walked to our table and pleasant small talk once seated! Service was quick and our drinks were never empty. The lunch chicken fajitas was the first thing that jumped off the menu at me and it was a really great choice. It was perfectly portioned for lunch and nicely displayed. The salad items were arranged in a baked tortilla bowl surrounded by re-fried beans and a mixture of yummy chicken, onions and green peppers. The spices were on point, not too spicy but just enough to give a bit of a kick. The only suggestion is to ask for mild salsa when you are seated since they serve a 'hot' salsa to eat with your complimentary chips! read more

Mi Pueblo had been a staple for my family some years back. I had moved away and now moved back into the area I decided I would grt some great Mexican food. Our problems started almost as soon as we were seated. The young lady brought out the chips and salsa and the salsa was so hot I couldn't eat it. I love hot things, but this was too much. I asked Javier, our server, for and was given a mild salsa which tasted like unseasoned tomatoes. But at least it didnt burn my stomach. I ordered the fajitas and in a few minutes, it was brought out. I got a plate of beans and rice, the griddle with the meat and vegetables, a small bowl with lettuce and a teaspoon each of guacamole and sour cream. I also received two tortillas. The items on the griddle were so charred that the primary flavor was burned food. One fajita took all of the fixins so generously provided. I did ask for and received more sour cream and guacamole. Overall, the fajitas were edible, but not the quality I had expected. I would normally have made three fajitas but since I only got two tortillas, i just settled for that. Our server, Javier came out and brought the check to the friend I was having dinner with and explained that he had inadvertently given his check to another party and they paid it and he wanted my friend to pay the other party's check now. Supposedly the amounts were the same. Rather than make a fuss, my friend agreed. We had separate checks so I stayed out of the conversation. Javier brought our checks. Mine was over $26.00. I only had the fajitas, which were 15.00, cheese dip and a diet Pepsi. I thought that sounded high, but went ahead and paid and gave him a $7 tip. I started to think about this overnight and realized something was wrong with that bill. I found the receipt and was shocked af what I found. The receipt I was given and charged for had nothing on It I had ordered. It had a margarita and two different entrees and drinks, none of which I had ordered. The amount wasnt even close to what the total i paid was. I was not really satisfied with the quality of my meal, but the error that occurred when I checked out was unforgivable. I am to blame because I didnt check the ticket. When you eat here, be sure you are paying your check and not some strangers. I wont be returning to Mi Pueblo and would caution others to examine your check when paying. read more

I've eaten at multiple Mi Pueblo locations across the state, and I have to say that this was one of my most disappointing trips. Some coworkers and I decided to stop here for a quick lunch. The wait staff seemed also annoyed with our presence and had very little personality. They rushed our lunch, so much so that it made us uncomfortable. They weren't even that busy. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas which were quite good. The chips and salsa were also quite tasty. That being said, the food was the only positive point to this restaurant. They need to do a better job with customer service to maintain long-lasting customer relationships. I hope that they can improve on their customer service skills, because they have a good thing going with the food. read more

Up front, I am not a huge connoisseur of Mexican food, but I have sampled a fair number of restaurants. From the brief history printed in the menu, I gather this chain was started as a mom-and-pop comfort food type of place, and has since been so successful as to expand into ten or so locations. After eating there for the first time (at the Clemmons location), I think I can see why. First, even though we came in on a Saturday night and the parking lot was nearly full, we were seated immediately. All the waitstaff were very friendly and efficient. Our food came quickly, and our bill took about a minute to process. I was impressed at the efficiency of the service. The food was very good. I had the beef tips which are served over pineapple and were quite tasty. The cut of beef is by no means premium, but the tips were well-cooked, well-seasoned and for the price superb. One side was a flavorful variation of refried beans incorporating jalapenos with cheese. The rice was perhaps the best Mexican rice I've had in Winston Salem with a light and delicate flavor. My wife, who generally does not like any Mexican food ate about half my rice and commented that it was the first rice she had eaten at a Mexican restaurant that was not oily. She had the T-bone, which was big but thin. However, as it was on special that night for 8.50, she said she would definitely be back. The cheese enchilada was good and the sauce balanced, but not great. In summary, this was probably the second best Mexican meal I've had outside of a high-end restaurant in the area. The food is really good, the portion size is generous, and the price makes you not regret anything you order. We will be back. read more

My husband and I recently moved to Clemmons so we we wanted to give Mi Pueblo a try. We went last night and were really disappointed. It was Taco Tuesday and the sign on the table said "$6 Street Taco Trios." When we looked on the menu under Street Tacos it said to choose the type of taco you wanted and then the protein. We ordered our food and found the tortillas to be really inedible. They were cold and chewy. Not wanting to complain and just figuring they were having a busy night, we ate the protein with the chips and salsa. When the bill came, the tacos were $12, not the $6 special. We took the ticket up front and mentioned it. The hostess contacted the manager and he practically yelled us and treated us like we were trying to steal food. Turns out, only 1 type of the tacos were on special. That was not made clear on the sign, by the waitress, or the menu. Rather than talk to us, the manager was rude and then walked off. What should have been a $20 meal was almost $40 and we were treated horribly. I try to support local businesses as often as I can but we won't be back any time soon. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area for us to try. read more

We went to this place a while back and I can't say it was a great experience. When we walked in, the host seemed to be annoyed that we were rude enough to tread on his time at the restaurant. After being shown our table (without a word from him) we got to sit there and have plenty of time to talk before anyone even came over to take an order. Waiter was a little bit-very little, nicer than the host. The food we got was wrong, must be trained by Taco Bell, and had to ask directly to get the food we ordered instead of just eating the food that had been served before us. With all the Mexican food restaurants around here tasting pretty much the same, you are going to have to make up for it with customer service-which this did not have. I usually like to give a place a 2nd try, but this was such a bad experience in the Southern Hospitality part of the country, that I can not even do that. read more

Let me just go ahead and get why this review missed 5stars out of the way. I can understand to a certain degree if your slammed busy with customers. However that was not the case. From the second we sat done we felt so rushed when placing our drink orders to food orders. During my turn of giving my order I was trying to tell him that I wanted the ACP Steak with certain vegetables, before I could even finish saying the last veggie that I wanted he proceeded to move on to the next persons order, I politely interrupted him to say I wasn't finished. As I'm telling him I want a side of Cheese.... ok ok he's once again moving on.... I was like "Hey I'm not done STOP rushing me! He replied what else do you want? I was like the Pico which I ordered as a addition knowing it was extra which he then proceeded to tell me that does not come with my meal. Ughhh I know!! That was my biggest complaint really is the waiter not having enough patience. Prices were so so really. I think about the same as other restaurants. Especially at dinner service. Food was so good though, everything was hot, sizzling and flavorful. The salsa was probably the best out of a lot of Mexican restaurants I've been to. It had a kick to it, which I loved!! My ACP Steak was huge and they didn't skimp on veggies or steak. The steak was so yummy and cooked to perfection. I was expecting possibly to be chewy but not the case at all. I meant to take a picture of my food beforehand but forgot. I believe they are worth trying at least once. Maybe the waiter is just a fast kinda guy in life. Then one of the cashiers handed our bill to the waitress who took it to another register to pay the bill.
