Biscoff cinnamon roll
Brooke P.

What a little gem of a bakery! I've been following Mama Bears Sweet Shop for a while seeing all of the delicious treats they post on a daily basis, so while in High Point I made it a point to stop by. The inside is super cute with multiple photo ops around the shop. They also have a very large assortment of treats. The lady at the front was super friendly and helpful while picking out what I wanted. My husband loves baklava so I got him an assortment and I am obsessed with Biscoff so I chose the Biscoff cinnamon roll and tiramisu. The cinnamon roll had to be at least 5 lbs and was delicious. The tiramisu was unique in that it wasn't made with coffee so it tasted more like a Biscoff pudding cake of sorts - still delicious. This is definitely a spot I'll be stopping by in the future when I'm in town!

This Sweet Shop is like one of those cozy family friendly places you go to get to know the ladies who bake and serve an assortment of baked goods. There's also ice cream and gelato. I'm always in it for the coffee so I tried the Gingerbread Latte which was good! They use almond instead of oatmilk, still very tasty. The chocolate chip cookie was still warm when I got it! Cute space with lots of room for a big group. The food is great, but the service is what I liked the best.

Mama Bear's is my new favorite bakery. I drop in at least once a week for some sweet treats. It is so cute and dainty and the staff is always so nice and accommodating. My favorites are the strawberry crunch banana pudding and assortment of the cookies but unlike to switch it up sometimes too. So much to try. If you haven't already, you should really stop by.

While its prices have gone up, Odeh's Mediterranean Kitchen remains the gold standard for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in High Point. With this bakery spinoff, the Odeh family looks to continue to raise the bar. First impressions have been very encouraging. Housed in the former Mandalay Asian Fusion space, Mama Bear's is bright, clean, and spacious with plenty of seating. The selection is commendably varied: rolls, croissants, cakes, cookies, gelato, ice cream, and more. Whatever your sweet tooth yearns for, they have you covered. Coffee and espresso drinks are available as well. For my first visit, I went with a slice of Dubai chocolate cake and a white chocolate peanut butter cookie. The cake was rich and chocolatey with a nice crunch, but at $7/slice, I'll probably go with a less extravagant flavor next time. The cookie ($3.50) was a standout: moist and chewy without falling apart. White chocolate and peanut butter proved to be an underrated combination. If you're a fan of Odeh's, enjoy a good pastry, or both, then Mama Bear's is a no-brainer. Be forewarned that if you follow their social media, you may have a tough time staying away.

Y'all! Please allow me to use that word and be country for just a few moments. The reason why, is that I grew up in the country a county over and told the ladies at Mama Bears today that my aunt when I was a child, would take all of the blackberries that we would go out and pick, and she would turn them into jams, preserves, and the best blackberry cobbler you would ever eat. So when I saw that they had blackberry cobbler, I had to try and I asked them if they could put as much crust in there as possible. They did not disappoint! It was just sweet enough, not overly sweet and so good with the vanilla ice cream after I heated up the cobbler for about 30 seconds. I mentioned before that they have so much to choose from and this one was a winner in my opinion. Please make sure to check them out because they have so many great things to offer. My only regret was that I immediately started digging in and forgot to take a picture! I did share with my coworker and she said it was so yummy as well. Thank you for bringing back a wonderful childhood memory with such a great dessert. Country girl out.

Stopped in for a quick snack a few weeks ago. Parking was easy and it's a larger space than I had anticipated. I ordered the Oreo cinnamon roll which was delicious. I also ordered a latte and sadly just didn't prefer the type of coffee or how they made it. It's a solid spot for a sweet treat!

The shop is very spacious! They sale a assortment of baked item, coffees, hot coffee, ice cream etc etc. it's really hard to select just one item. The ladies behind the counter make suggestions and serve with a smile. I had a delicious brownie and coffee with a few things added that tasted awesome. I will definitely be back. O

We recently visited Mama Bear's Sweet Shop because we were looking for cinnamon rolls. Mama Bear's didn't disappoint! We got the largest, heaviest cinnamon and pumpkin rolls I have ever seen! I also got a latte that was yummy! It was a quaint bake shop with lots of options. Service was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Overall, Dot and Pearls is a great neighborhood bakery with delicious treats and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I'm not sure if they do consignment style shops within the gift shop, or if it's all under the same business, but it's arranged in a bunch of mini sections that all kind of have a different aesthetic. It was a bit maze-like, but I have no doubt they sell something in here for everyone. Like the gift shop, the bakery had huge variety. Who knew there were so many types of cake? I ended up getting a carrot cake latte and a heart shaped macaron. It was only after I had ordered my latte with oat milk, checked out (including paying the up-charge for oat milk), and waited several minutes that they told me they were out of oat milk. This was disappointing, as I paid my extra for the oat milk, yes, but also because I don't really want a latte in general without it. Regardless, it was too late, so I just told them to do it with 2%. The latte was okay but I didn't love it. It mostly tasted sweet and like cinnamon. Which I guess is more or less what carrot cake tastes like? The menu said it came with a cream cheese cold foam or whipped cream (I don't remember which) but it came out with plain whipped cream. The espresso was a little bitter - maybe burnt or shocked. The macaron was gorgeous, but didn't have a macaron taste or texture. It was hard like cookie. A macaron should be light and airy, and the shell should almost collapse under a bite. I had to chomp through this one. I am not sure if it was stale, a bad batch, or if their "macarons" are just "macaron shaped cookies" by design.

I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. A dozen different variations of cheesecakes, several cupcake varieties, a dozen different kinds of macarons, several different cakes, tiramisu, tres leches, banana pudding, edible cookie dough, more cookies than I could name, brownies, eclairs, and more that I'm sure I have forgotten. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. Maybe I'm the last one to hear about Sweet Dough and everyone else has been a fan, or maybe it's a true hidden gem. Either way, I will 100% be back.

Nowhere nearby have I found authentic Italian baked goods except for a former co-worker, whose Sicilian mother once made us delicious wine biscuits and pignoli cookies. That's what I was hoping to find today - along with biscotti, cannoli, etc. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I got the pistachio lobster tail and a mixed box of cookies. The lobster tail was basically a crispy croissant filled with pastry cream that had no discernible pistachio flavor. Tasty but definitely more of a French pastry. The cookies were all supposedly different flavors but I couldn't tell them apart. They were a basic shortbread dyed different colors, had gummy, flavorless fillings and tasted old. There was 1 biscotti in the box and I'm sorry to say that my not at all Italian mom has made better biscotti. Definitely very pricey considering the quality. It makes me sad that there is still nowhere to get good Italian pastries here.

If this is what you're looking for, then Sift and Crumb Coat is the place to go! We needed cookies for a corporate event out of town, and found this place on-line, and from our very first telephone Oossie was such a pleasure to work with. I sent pictures of what we wanted, and she was very accommodating. Being nearly 2500 miles away, I was very nervous about this order and contacted Oossie a lot, and she never made me feel like I was bothering her. Fast forward to the day of the event, and unfortunately her delivery driver was hit while headed to our drop-off. Causing irreparable damage to a portion of our order. The bakery called us immediately, and then went into action and in a flash worked furiously to remake as many of the cookies as possible in order to fulfill as much of our order as they could. The cookies that arrived were gorgeous, tasted delicious and although it was less than we had expected, they were amazing! This event was highlighting the release of a new door knob, and the cookies shaped as a door, with the knob on them were spot on! Then, before we even contacted them to discuss the shortages, the company had refunded me for what we didn't receive and sent us a gift certificate for a future purchase. I've always said you can tell the true character of a business and their owner by how they handle their "issues," and in this case, Sift and Crumb Coat went above and beyond in a situation that was unavoidable.
