This place is great. A little far for me, as this place is in Kent, so coming from Lacey a bit of a commitment. But as close to authentic Chinese cuisine I'll get South east of Seattle. Their Xiao Long Bay is a great deal and when we were able to dine in great to eat, freshly steamed and brought table side in their steamers. Now that we're back to take out, I will have to wait to get that again. I have tried their beef noodle soup which I was hoping would have a deeper taste didn't quite hit the mark. But their braised beef pancake roll didn't disappoint. I love that you can see the ladies making the dumplings and noodles by hand...this is definitely a labor of love at this restaurant. The Spicy Wontons were impressive. I liked them better than the XLB. The spice was more flavorful than hot. Lastly, the fennel Pan Fried Dumplings were out of control. I even had them the next day because I took this particular dish home. The first two were enough for one sitting. The fennel taste dominated, but it wasn't overwhelming. Pan frying added a tasty crust. Service was quick and not personable. But that's expected in Chinese restaurants so I'm not docking them there. My table did not come with napkins. Small, but important detail. Also, it was weird to get such a small plate. I suppose I didn't order any real entrees though. I highly recommend you check this spot out. read more

I have always thought the restaurant staff are very friendly at this restaurant, which I do enjoy because I believe interaction between restaurant staff and customers needs to be present in order to create an easy going environment. With a good environment, we can enjoy great food, which Mama's Dough is excellent for. I always come in here to order pineapple fried rice, Pan-fried and/or boiled dumplings. The fried rice is actually perfect here because they don't add too much oil. Some restaurants would have oil dripped out of the dish as you stir the fried rice, which would just remind you that you'd have a heart attack in the near future soon for eating too much oily stuff. The dumplings are heaven because they're super juicy with lots of meat and vegetables stuffed in the wrappers. I remember my friend ordered braised pork rib with Bok Choy soup, but I thought the soup was very bland. I don't think I'd go for that soup unless the flavor would be added, but you can make up for it by adding soy sauce or dipping sauce. read more

My friend and I came here on a Sunday around noon, and there weren't many people so we were seated immediately. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. We ordered the spicy beef brisket soup, the pig ears, the pork and chive dumplings, and the pork xiao long bao. The spicy beef noodle soup had thick hand shaved noodles which were a great texture. The soup was tasty, and the meat was tender. The pig ears were well seasoned and flavorful. The soup dumplings were incredible and by far our favorite dish. The skins were thin and tender and the filling was bursting with juice and flavor. The pork and chive dumplings were our least favorite dish, and I probably won't order these again. We got them pan fried, and the fried bottoms (tops in the photo because they're flipped over for serving) weren't nearly as crisp as I would've wanted them to be. The filling was decent. They were quite chive heavy, which I normally don't mind because I love chives, but they weren't nearly as flavor-packed as the soup dumplings. The food is so good. Usually with to-go orders I anticipate some sort of a lower quality in food presentation or taste or preparation. I was very surprised that my food came out looking great, and tasting just as delicious as if I would have ate in. They were also great with their service and offering my drinks while I waited for my order to ready. It's officially one of my favorite dim sum places and I can't wait to eat in next time I go! Service wasn't that great... u get served in a bowl that's chipped and a spoon with lipstick stain on it. I didn't complain but wiped it clean since I'm not one to fuss. They deep fried it and obviously blasted the oil heat so the outside was burnt dark and the inside was still cold and uncooked. We also tried the tian jing style pancake with chive & egg (my first time trying this style of pancake) and the seafood soup. The seafood in the soup was so-so but the broth and noodles were delicious! Unfortunately, the Xiao Long Bao was eaten up so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to take a photo. Sorry...not sorry. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try one of their other soups as well as the wontons with Sichuan sauce. I had a sudden craving for dumplings after watching the Worth It Taiwan Dumplings episode, so I ordered 5 different dishes from Mama Dough. B2 Shrimp wonton in spicy Sichuan sauce: don't get it here... Din Tai Fung's version is much better. Mama Dough's Sichuan sauce was sour without any numbing heat X2 Pork meat xiao long bao: the pork meat was a little bit stinky but other than that, they were okay C7 Braise beef pancake rolls: it says rolls but it is just one roll for $6.99. The flavor and crispy texture of the pancake roll contrasting the tenderness of the braised beef works well together and it became one of my instant favorites J5 Boiled pork dumplings with fennel: the aroma of fennel really stood out and hid the stinky smell of the pork. I would definitely recommend any fennel lovers to try this dish J4 Pan-fried pork dumplings with chives: standard and can't go wrong with this. Although the dough skin wasn't as crispy as takeout orders, they will suffice! Overall, I thank Mama Dough for satisfying my craving for dumplings. Came here for dinner with friends and this what we ordered: - pork wontons and shrimp wontons in spicy Sichuan sauce - spicy mixed pig ears - pork xiao long bao - crab xiao long bao -pan fried pork dumplings with chives -fried rice I wasn't that big of a fan of the spicy mixed pig ears. The cold, gelatinous form did not fair well in my mouth. It was rather chewy and the sauce that it was doused in wasn't to my liking. However, I should note that my other friends really enjoyed it. The pork and crab xiao long bao was nice and hot when they came out. Unfortunately, the soup inside wasn't as flavorful and was rather bland. I had to really mix these in the soy/vinegar/ginger dip. The spicy pork and shrimp wontons in spicy sauce was not as spicy as I'd like so we had to add some chili flakes. The only thing I really enjoyed were the pan fried pork dumplings with chives. Super crispy - enjoyable when biting into and the pork inside was juicy! I would come back if I was in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. If I were to come back, I'd like to try some of their noodle dishes since they hand make their noodles. read more

In all honestly this restaurant deserves more of a 4.5 out of 5, but I'ma be generous and just give the 5 stars. The dough they make fresh daily and visibly in front of the customers, and the food itself its pretty good. My only real complaints is it's a tiny bit overpriced and the sauce for the dumpling is far out of my personal taste for dumplings, but solid restaurant overall. The handmade noodle is obvious it's handmade hence mama dough's niche. When I picked up a stand of noodle with my chopsticks it never ended! It's kind of like the bowl of soup is made up of one stand which is kind of cool. The texture is a bit thick for me however my bf pointed out this is the authentic type of noodle. You see its not perfectly uniform and it's interesting. The braised brisket is soft, fully marinated, and slightly tangy. There's also bok choy and half an egg which is a nice touch.
