Enjoyed their beef soup but their XLB wasn't on par as DTF. also, they say their noodles are hand pulled but not all of them. you can see on the window they have a pasta roller and I can see them using it and getting the pasta the right size that way. I ordered hand pulled noodles for my soup, but once I saw them use that machine, I felt like the integrity of being hand pulled was kinda a let down. We tried this placed and loved it. I've tried six other dumpling house locations (including Din Tai Fung) and this is the best. We ordered the pork Xiao dumplings, fried pork and chives potstickers, and pork wontons in spicy sauce. The soup dumplings were as good as any other location I've been to. The pot stickers were ok, I've had better at several other locations in the valley and the spicy dumplings were excellent. read more

If you are planning to go to this place for the soup dumplings because of the Seattle Time article, save yourself the trouble. The restaurant is not new and has never been popular compared to its next door neighbors. Most likely the owner managed to sponsor the Times article. When I was there shopping in the 99 ranch supermarket in the same mall, I saw customers waiting in line, many of them non Chinese. Obviously the Times article worked. Since I never had soup dumplings in that place, I decided to give it a try. The owner was ill prepared for the sudden influx of customers, they were slow to greet and seat customers, bring out tea cups, or take orders. The soup dumplings were too salty with too much soy sauce. The top dough knot is just dense chunk of dough. The article claimed that their dumplings are better than Din Tai Fung'a, it's a blatant lie. In contrast to their salty soup dumplings, they barely put any salt in the other two dishes I ordered. Undaunted, I tried to add some flavor myself by vigorously shaking their salt bottle. But the salt bottle refused to give up much salt despite my hard workout. For a restaurant that can't even handle appropriate salt level in their dishes, it's quite brazen for them to put out such a promotion article in Seattle Times. read more

Finally got to try this place after a couple failed attempts previously, they're not great about posting closures. Once we finally did catch them open we really enjoyed their dumplings, the Xia Long Bau were cheap and delicious, but they didn't give us any dipping sauce... We also had he fried Mamas special pork buns, they were also very good, but once again, their dipping sauce game was weak. We will return, great stop when going to Ikea. read more

Not bad, not fantastic. I usually wait until I've been somewhere more than once to write a more comprehensive review. I went last week and the fried rice was great, pretty much all I can eat because I am vegetarian. They don't have much if you don't eat meat. The fried rice was so great that I went back yesterday and got an order to go. The second time it was not impressive. I wouldn't even call it good. The rice was stale and the cost for one container of fried rice with veggies was $10. Considering the ingredients cost a little over .25 cents, if that, and the labor/operating costs are probably reasonable at around $5-7 dollars... this shouldn't cost $10. Not to mention it wasn't good the second time. The to-go order didn't include a single napkin or any sort of utensil to eat with. I probably won't be back after that. read more

We tried the Pork Xiao Long Bao and loved it. My girls liked it too. My husband had the spicy brisket noodle soup and it was good but not very spicy. I had the spare rib noodle soup and I thought my broth had better flavor. My daughter had the shrimp chow mein and it was delicious. If you are expecting a real chinese authentic food, dont go here. Their xio long bao is not authentic at all and smell bad. If you are expecting Americanized Chinese food, still don't go there. The food was fine, nothing extraordinary but soured by the service. After asking for water several times and receiving it toward the end of the meal, and a long wait for the check we felt like it would be a long time until we'll consider returning. If you want a cheaper alternative to Din Tai Fung, this is a good spot, although I actually prefer DTF more. My family and I ate here for Christmas dinner (since Chinatown was PACKED) and there wasn't a wait compared to V Garden next door so we were seated right away. We ordered the pork XLB, braised beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, fried rice, and braised pork belly. I will say this place is called Mama Dough for a reason: You can tell everything here is homemade (The wonton, noodles, etc!). Everything was chewy and doughy so it makes me wonder if everything got cooked all the way. I thought scallion pancakes were supposed to be crunchy, but this one was definitely chewy. Overall everything was delicious, but not as flavorful as I would like. The pork XLB seemed oily, but still packed with meat. It was hard to split the soup between my family and I because the noodles were so long! I would suggest the cooks cut some of them shorter so it's easier to put in our small bowls. Tried this place out because apparently it's supposed to be cheaper and better than DTF and Doughzone. Our experience was bad from the beginning. Our server guy was rude. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, mama special pork bao and pork wonton in spicy sichuan sauce. Was told the xiao long bao was going to take 12 minutes which was fine. They were busy and 12 minutes wouldn't be too bad since we had other dishes to try. But it took 20 minutes for our spicy wonton to come out then another 10 minutes for the mama special bao. During this time the server never once checked on us or even bother to tell us why it was taking so long. I understand they were busy but its ridiculous to have to wait over 20 minutes for the first dish and by now we've waited for about 40 minutes and the xiao long bao never even came. So unfortunately I can't tell you guys if the xiao long bao was good or not. But the other two dishes were pretty bland. Didn't have much flavor. Oh and the free appetizer that everyone talks about how great it is we never got that either. It was about $20 for just the two ordered. I'd rather take my $20 and go to DTF or Doughzone to get better service and quality food. read more

I had the lamb noodle soup and all I got was tasteless broth (might as well been salted water) over noodle, bak choi, and a couple slice of lamb. I finished the lamb and return the rest. They still have good Xiao Long Bao, definitely recommend those over their noodle. Instant ramen taste better than what they served for $13! read more

It's not definitely nothing compared to ding tai fung but it's a quick fix. I would give a higher rating but our noodle soup wasn't that hot. After reading a review in a Seattle food mag, we were so excited to give this place a try since it's closer to us....our first impression was that this place was NOT CLEAN. Completely with house flys (worse than most places in Chinatown), and it had an awful garbage smell/bleach. We thought, ok....maybe they just took out the garbage and they're cleaning up? We came on a heavy cleaning day? Ugh, I don't know? We really tried to give them the benefit of our doubts...We should've listened to our gut feeling because when the food finally came out (took about 40 minutes), it wasn't very good. It was average. Not sure why the review was so complimentary? Food was just average (dough zone is superior in comparison), and the restaurant is filthy. Not coming back mainly because this restaurant is so damn dirty. I can handle some grungy, "Okay" rated Asian restaurants, but the health inspector needs to come out here and see wassup lol read more

This place is just okay. The pork xiao long bao wrappers were tough/dry and the soup was weirdy dark and salty unlike those from din tai fung which are clear and light. The scallion pancakes were greasy and more on the burnt side. The braised beef noodles soup had a generous amount of meat but the broth was too salty. read more
