Food Is always Good here. Like you can't go wrong with the God but the service is horrendous. This morning I entered and got greeted with a snarky remark that was completely out of pocket. The older lady working looked at my Bag and told me that I'm not "camping here". I forgot that brining a school bag of supplies is The same as me bringing a tent, fishing pole and other things. As for the ambiance of the place It sucks. Seeing the same employee smile and be all "fairytale God mother with others is hurtful. Not only did we come in to the woman with the brows and the braids in a bad mood going off about management, the managers specifically and the "work load" but they got my boyfriends drink wrong. It took them 10minutes to make the wrong drink. And the other big woman didn't call out my drink. So when I thought they made my boyfriends drink, I reached and instead of communicating like a decent woman she decided to make some sort of sound like a badger and go "uh uh! I dont know if its just this location or all Paneras... but I am shocked how awful it has become. The food portions and flavor have gone so far downhill it's below sea level. A HALF caprese sandwich (so one slice of bread total) with a little chopped bacon is $9! That is outrageous. A fruit cup with 1 strawberry, quarter slice of a pineapple, and some pieces of cantaloupe is over $2. The chicken and wild rice soup has a slimy texture and tastes mostly of celery. I found myself with about an hour of extra time between meetings in Kent last week, and tried to find a coffee spot nearby so I could get some work done, but nothing was open at that early hour so I zipped into Panera. Always a solid choice when I can't find a locally-owned option, this Panera didn't disappoint. The coffee was hot, the service fast and friendly, and I even enjoyed the bagel I ordered too. Most importantly on this day, their wi-fi was strong and since it wasn't busy I was able to stay for an entire hour and not feel like I was getting in anybody's way. I have been to many Panera Bread restaurants and quite thoroughly enjoyed the food. I will say, the thing that separates one franchise store to another is the customer experience which equates to customer service. Let me say, this Panera bread is 5 Star for me in the customer service department. Each encounter with every employee I came across was pleasant and you can tell that each person enjoys being there. When I was deciding on what to eat, my cashier came with great recommendations and patience for my indecisiveness. Every point of contact was such a good experience. The vegan options are pretty limited in Panera. They generally only have couple of warm bowls, a sandwich option (not a good one though) and few bagels. I always get the Baja bowl (after omitting the cheese and yogurt). The sauce, beans salsa and the avocados make the bowl pretty good. Today I found a new (limited time) option - strawberry salad with poppyseed dressing! It was really good albeit very sweet because of all the fruits (strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and oranges!!). It is more like a fruit salad ha ha. I added some onions, basil, veg blend and edamame to make it more like a regular salad. It came out to be $15 with taxes (which I think is reasonable with the inflation?). This is an average Panera, with good staff. They're in a convenient location, but that also puts them in around a lot of more exciting options for food. The food is pretty good but unexciting. Selections are healthy but generally involving carbs. Soup, salads, and sandwiches are decently flavorful and there's some variety, but the menu doesn't offer any novelty or surprise. For lunch, I like the French onion soup, the Greek salad, and the turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich. My breakfast go-tos are the asiago bagel and cheese souffle. They typically have most bakery items, though they run out occasionally. Earlier in the day is better. Their beverage selection, particularly of hot teas and coffees, falls short compared to most cafe-style places; the chai latte is downright bad. Like all Paneras, they implement an awards program based on a per-visit system. Though you can't choose what rewards are available, it's worthwhile and easy. Surprise Surprise... This was my FIRST time going to Panera Bread and I had a server who were trying to hurry me up when there was no one in line. Sure, I can buy a loaf of bread from either Freddy's or Safeway's bakery but there's something about Panera that I really like. Maybe it's the smell of freshly baked goods or the pleasing aesthetic when I walk in. Whatever it is, I like their food and love their loaves of bread. What's nice is when you order bread they ask if you want it sliced. I know some people like to take it home and slice it themselves but I'd rather have Panera slice it for me. The employees get up early to prep and mornings are the best time to order. If you go there too late the baked goods are gone or they taste like they've been sitting there for too long. Customer service could be better but when you're in your 20s and working at a shop like this it's either a part time gig while in school or a transitional job just to add some type of customer service to a resume. I doubt they get some kind of recognition or compensation for being the best cashier. Maybe a discount on food but that's probably it.
