I got my food via too good to go (if you haven't tried that app it's the best) so I will start by saying I didn't get to pick what I got but I ended up getting too slices is Sicilian and a buffalo chicken slice. It's the BOMB!! Very mom and pop vibes which are my absolute favorite! It's nothing fancy inside but when good food is around you don't need it. This review is well overdue...Big thanks to Mama Gina's who came through and saved the day for a pizza party at a local school for 25 kids when an order that was supposed to be put through, wasn't. Person I spoke to on the phone was very nice and accommodating. Not sure how they did it, but Mama Gina's was able to get 3 XL pizzas delivered well within 45 mins. After a busy morning and afternoon shopping DoorDash from Mama Gina's pizzeria... had a basic pepperoni pizza, huge chef, salad, and steak egg rolls. The pizza was a very good quality for a b New York style floppy pizza. The chef salad was outstanding with fresh ingredients in a very nice pita type bread as a side. I refuse to believe that this place has a 3.5* average. I honestly don't get it - their pizza (sauce, crust, toppings) is consistently on point and even their salad (I always order the greek salad) is great. I know, I know, you're probably rolling your eyes at the fact that I order salad at a pizza joint, but the salad is a good size and definintely filling. I usually order mine with chicken and the salad also comes with a side of "pita", which is really more like cooked (but still doughy) pizza dough and is sooo good. First time I've been to Mama Gina's and was not disappointed . I got a slice of cheese and a slice of Buffalo chicken. Both had great taste a nice flavorable crust perfect cheese sauce ratio a solid 7.7.. my problem with the buffalo chicken it was simply not spicy enough and the only negatives I can say about the pizza was a little greasy and if the cross was a little more crispier but definitely will be back. read more

Sometimes, I write reviews to remind me of the good and the bad. In this case, it's for the bad. For me, anything less than three stars means that I will not return. We were heading to Reliable Market and decided to grab pizza here to save time. I normally don't like just popping into places without doing a little research, but today, my seven year old daughter was crying of hunger after shopping at Michael's in Porter Square. I ordered a large cheese pizza hoping to save extra slices for future meals. While the cheese and sauce on our pizza seemed okay, the crust was below average. They really skimp on the quality of the crust. It's very thin, hard, and over cooked. Most of the bottom of the pizza was charred. I normally will not eat charred foods because they cause gastrointestinal issues for me. I ate my first slice but for the next two slices, I only ate the cheese and sauce. I was super hungry, and I only let my daughter finish her slices as she was famished as well. However, I showed her the bottom of the pizza and told her that this is not good pizza. Also, what really annoyed me was the price point. That burnt pizza costed $11.95! I felt so ripped off but have to think it's because of the location that allows them to charge that much. For that price point, I can get two very nice cheese pizzas in my neighborhood. Another thing that bothered me was just how dirty their plastic utensils were. They don't clean the area where they store the utensils. I grabbed the last knife and there was dots of dust (?) on the knife. I wiped it clean with my fingers. And then the guy at the counter, gave me some more plastic knives kept behind the counter and they all had dots of dust (?) on them. Absolutely gross! Never again!! read more

Had a fresh, delicious pizza tonight from Mama Gina's (sausage and onion, 12"), and as I was enjoying it, I realized that I sometimes forget how reliable this place is, and that I should tell others! I live right up the hill and so have been grabbing pizzas and subs from Mama Gina's for years. And you know what? As new, fancier places pop up all around it, Mama Gina's remains overall my most satisfying order-out experience! (along with Siam Ginger around the corner for Thai!)... And not only is it the tastiest option you'll find in the area for pizzas and subs, but the prices are reasonable too. They're always doing a lot of business in there, and for good reason -- these guys know their stuff, they've been at it a long time! I'm allergic to hots and tomatoes which is why I ordered without tomatoes. I've ordered from them personally and for school-related events many times. Yes there's been issues such as late delivery but the pizza is decent (former New Yorker here so I have standards) and cheap. But after the last time I tried to order, never again. First, when someone places an order for three pizzas, you don't say "that's it?" in an incredulous tone implying "why are you wasting my time with only a three pizza order"? Sorry that I'm "only" ordering three pizzas but little did you know I was going to place an order right after for about ten more pizzas on a separate date. #yourloss Even if I wasn't, business is business. The best slice of pizza I've had in ten years in Boston. I've never gotten a sandwich here, I've never ordered anything to go or for delivery, and still I give them five stars. Why? The slices are full size yet thin, the crust bordering on crisp, the sauce and cheese even and restrained in their amounts. It reminds me of the wood-oven pies of New Jersey, a delicious thin slice that you just want to sprinkle a little oregano on and love every moment you spend together. read more

Mama Gina's (and the seedy convenience store down a couple doors down) encapsulate everything I miss about Boston 10 years ago. It's a little dingy, got some cool stuff on the walls. Everyone who works tehre grew up togehter (and apparently used to get into a lot of fights in lincoln pahk). It's a total local pizza joint, which I think it really fuckin cool. but on top of that, their pizza is pretty good. Mama Gina's makes some great pizza, it's thin, crisp & the sauce is very flavorful. We went there yesterday for some slices and my bf got the chicken finger plate. The chicken fingers & the fries that came with it were very good. The side of BBQ sauce wasn't anything to write home about, but the chicken didn't need any extras to be tasty. They have lots of sides, including jalepeno poppers, onion rings garlic bread, etc. Oh, and be sure to try their deep fried ravioli, I haven't found many places in the area that make this side, and Mama Gina's does an excellent job. It comes with a side of their marinara. If you are not in the mood for pizza, they also make a fine sub or wrap with any topping imaginable. I love their steak & cheese. I've ordered from here once with Cara on super bowl Sunday and once for a little romantic, candlelit calzone filled dinner with Jesse. Both were very solid experiences. The first experience came about because Cara and I wanted buffalo chicken tenders and all of the wing places weren't picking up. Go figure. I looked on foodler and placed and order for two chicken wing dinners for me and my lady friend. It was delivered within a reasonable amount of time (under 45 minutes on a super busy day) and our food was nice and hot. The buffalo chicken was spicy, sauce covered, and abundant, and the fries were oh so delicious and crunchy. The blue cheese was a generous in size and had a good flavor. We also ordered jalapeno poppers, just to make she we consumed enough grease. The second time was on a Thursday night with Jesse, and I enjoyed the buffalo chicken so much that I ordered it again. I ordered him a sausage and ricotta calzone as he was sleeping. The calzones are gigantic and really, really good. We normally order from Dial A Pizza, but Mama Gina's did give it a run for it's money. The service is always friendly if we have to call, and they always put the tip on before it's delivered so no signature is required. The quicker they are gone, the quicker you're eating your dinner! We'll definitely be ordering again......if nothing else, the buffalo chicken dinner when we're wanting something spicy to burn up our digestive systems. read more
