Oh....my.....God. Seriously the BEST Italian meal I've had. And that's coming from an Italian! Mama Gizzi is normally a pasta shop but hosts a supper club Thursday-Sunday for a small group of people (I believe 10-12). We came here tonight for my friend's birthday and had the place to ourselves. Mama Gizzi and her husband had the place all decorated for my friend with balloons and made a beautiful cake adorned with flowers just for her. They were both lovely, funny people. We enjoyed their company and we had a lot of laughs! The meal is served family style with what seems like never ending appetizers and main dishes being brought out fresh from the kitchen to the table. The food is out of this world. Seriously unique and delicious. Everyone at the table kept raving about how good it was. The cake was also incredibly delicious and they served it with homemade gelato....we were all stuffed but managed to eat a whole slice each. You NEED to try this place. We really like the specials and the Take and Bake concept is just so easy, we love it! Try the rigatoni with Italian style pulled pork and the lobster Mac n cheese if you're lucky to get that special too! She bakes some gorgeous looking dessert treats too, and displays them so nicely in a new case that makes them look like art! Our whole family loves her food and we love going in there to say hi and see her and grab dinner fixings! I was really looking forward to try the homemade pasta here but unfortunately I didn't. I found this business online snd saw the great reviews and thought it would be worth the 20 miles trip. I checked the hours of operation online and double checked their website. NOWHERE does it state shorter hours, hours of operation my be different during covid, please call the owner to verify, etc. When I arrived at 2:15 pm on a Tuesday (Dec 29th) I found the doors locked with the "Open" sign lit. I called the number to find out what was going on. The woman who I had the displeasure of talking to was ruuuude from the get go, like I annoyed her for calling her. She said that everything was by appointment only and that's fine but i wasn't aware. She asked me where and how I found the business and I said on the internet and Yelp. She questioned me more like an interrogation than an owner snd customer. She than asked "what did you want?". I told her 3 boxes of ravioli 2 cheese 1 meat. She put me on hold to talk to her husband and kept saying "meatball". Any true Italian knows it's not a meatball that goes into meat ravioli so I was concerned by this terminology as well. She said her husband could be there in 20 minutes but went into a barrage of how I'm supposed to call and asked if I could come back. While I tried to tell her I drove 20 miles (she never stopped lecturing me) and that I would wait. She then proceeded to lecture me more that "ya know we're under COVID, "sweetheart" in her very sarcastic tone that she had the whole time we were on the phone. I had to raise my voice enough so she could hear me over her own voice that she could tell her husband not to bother coming and I was leaving. They may have great pasta but PEOPLE SKILLS HERE ARE TOTALLY LACKING!!! I haven't seen any recent reviews here either which i find odd. read more

Mama Gizzi is not open so don't think you're going to drive there and shop their store. You must order ahead at least 24 hours and then pick up the next day. I don't know about u but sometimes I want to eat delicious gourmet food but don't want to get all dressed and sit in a restaurant for hours. You want to go home and eat it in your bed while wearing stretchy pants. This is your place. The food is so delicious. We ordered the meatball and mozzarella bread and the mushroom ravioli. It was home made, hand made and so good. You will love Mama Leah and her husband they were beyond polite (I may have been late) and gracious. Oh and it all came with Mama's delicious gravy and out of this world rolls. The price was very, very reasonable. You should go. I will be back for sure. I should have gotten desert. I am so thankful to have this spot in my neighborhood!!! Her pasta is to die for!!! My goodness it's incredible! I also purchased some bread and a mini cannoli. The bread is amazing-fresh and perfect warm. The cannoli filling was soft and creamy with a light flavor- perfection. She has lots of different options, I can't wait to try them! You can buy stuff to make or she has many pre-made treats you can bring home. It may be a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Gizzi and her husband were both so kind and welcoming. They took the time to chat with me about the business and products, while cooking away! Mama G and John are so friendly and personal. I had made a reservation for me and my boyfriend for his b'day. Unfortunately it was the day after the hurricane. Naturally I assumed we would have to reschedule but Mama assured me it was still on since she had power. Even though it was just us they made it so special. There were Happy Birthday table decorations and party hats. Mama even made him a chocolate cake for dessert (w/candles and song)! There was so much food and all so delicious. Her homemade "gravy" and pastas were heavenly and I was thrilled we had leftovers to take home. The cozy atmosphere made the setting complete. What a fun dining experience that everyone should try. Mama Gizzi has one of the BEST little Italian Pasta shops I have seen since I left NY! Everything is fresh made at the wee hours of the morning with her husband! Even her mozzerella is made by hand! If you want really fantastic food that makes you think you're at your Italian grandmother's house, make yourself a reservation with Mama. First rule -- DON'T WEAR A WHITE SHIRT! No one wants to see that insanely good gravy mama makes splattered on your shirt! Seriously, Mama won tonight by a unanimous decision -- every single one of us thought the food was beyond fantastic. Each course just kept getting better. From her own baked lasagna noodles as nibbles before the meal, to breaking bread, Mama's own fried ravioli lollipops, fresh pasta with GRAVY to die for, meatballs that melt when you eat them, grilled veggies, amazing chicken Marsala, warm stuffed bread to clean up your plate, and then the unbelievable Lemon Marscapone cake with a heavenly fresh gelato and fresh coffee..... Every single person made sure to personally thank Mama (and John!) for all the LOVE you could tell that was infused in every dish. I've waited a long time to try Mama Gizzi and I couldn't be more disappointed. I called and ordered up some chicken parmigiana, was so excited to pick it up the next day - a night off from cooking and an awesome meal! When I first walked in my very first thought was, hmmm smells different and "interesting ". Finally there she was behind the counter, so excited about the special dish she had made for me. Extra linguini and some rolls, I was excited too! I got home and took 2 pieces out with some pasta and preheated the oven. There was a strong smell of some spice I just couldn't put my finger on and I'm pretty good with that. I felt it was just too much of whatever it was. It was the same weird smell in her little store. I probably had about 4 bites and I just couldn't do it. The step son had tried the other piece and although he ate more than I did, he wasn't that thrilled either. The rest went in the trash, so unfortunate because there was quite a bit. She had told me to let her know (I suppose I am here) if I didn't like it but I guess I feel bad. She's a nice lady and all the great reviews here on Yelp, didn't have the heart to go back. read more
