He was super friendly, bilingual (English & Spanish), and cool enough to trust me and start the order before I even got there -- always appreciated. I ordered carne asada fries for my daughter, plus a sope (the pictures convinced me), and an asada torta for later. The fries were actually very good. I wouldn't have been mad at a little more carne asada, but what really impressed me was how crispy the fries stayed -- not just at pickup, but all the way through. That alone puts them above a lot of places. The sope was solid -- fresh fried masa, topped with queso fresco and crema. Maybe a little bean-heavy and a bit light on the meat for my taste, but still very tasty. I finished the whole thing like it was something mama made, so clearly it did its job. The owner of this establishment has a horrible attitude, bad service and his food service is a joke. I'd prefer Ancestros for better quality food. If your reading this you should value your customers alot more. And for the record I did not "flip you off" check your camara. My attitude was calm and collective. What we didn't like is that you told my partner you were going to take apart the 4 tacos and re-use the meat with onions and cilantro to correct the order of 4 sopes. I was so impressed with the taco plate. It came with a nicely charred green onion. The beans and rice tasted light and fresh. The corn tortillas look to be handmade and they have just the right consistency to hold the taco. The asada had the perfect chewiness, tasted very fresh and flavorful. The salsa was good as well. OMG. Why isn't there a line out the door?! I dropped in for a quick lunch and the food was soooo good! Got a 2 taco plate with asada and al pastor. I hope this new place survives because it changes quite often. We saw that new orders have taken over the space and when we realized it was Mexican food, we knew we had to stop. We actually came for the soft opening but early in the day so it wasn't busy yet. Plus, no one really knew that they had opened. Inside the taqueria, they have a picture of a woman who I assume is Mama Juana and I actually forgot to ask. It also looks like it is family owned. I ended up ordering the taco plate with one asada and one al pastor with cotija cheese. The plate came with rice and beans that reminded me of my tias food. Everything was delicious and I wanted to order more food but decided to wait till my next visit. A few days later my boyfriend went back for their burrito and he said it was amazing. There are so many great dishes on the menu so I am sure I will be back soon. Example Taco and torta sandwhich we ordered. When ordering, they already had a tip menu and a tip jar, a sense of obligation to tip. Place is small. Parking may be hard to find, pending what hours you go. Traffic is noisy due to LB Blvd. People can see you eat when the stop at a red light.. This place has alot of potential to be successful. Advise, this establishment needs to be more engaged with their customers. Be friendly and have some customer service etiquette, since you are trying to increase sales. I had high hopes cuz the place looks so cool from how it's such a small place just in the middle of a street. I had the carne asada fries and I kid you not there was no more than a tablespoon of meat in my order. All you could taste was cheese. When carne asada fries are bland you know the place is not good. I also tried their horchata slush, which should be reworded to their vanilla syrup concentrate slush. I was rooting for this place but I regret not going to king taco instead from how expensive this place is. The pollo asado is bijol-yellow and slightly charred. The carne asada is tender, marinated, and a little smoky. My teen inhaled his chorizo burrito so I didn't get to try that one, but I imagine it was delicious as well. Their corn tortillas are handmade -- small but dense and slightly chewy, they're perfect. I DID love the handmade tortillas, that was definitely a pleasant surprise. It was a thick corn tortilla but it fell apart with a single bite lol.
