Way too big of peppers and ripped tortillas
    Brett M.

Stopped by for some pick up for dinner. I got the chicken fajitas. My wife got the grilled Vege burrito. Portion size was great. Service good. Beans were good. Rice was good. Chicken was over cooked. Dry and crunchy. Corn tortillas were not able to be used because they were ripped. Very disappointing. I appreciate the fresh peppers but can we get some smaller slices. Grilled Vege burrito was not grilled. Not sure why. Salsa bar was outstanding. I want to continue to come here but it just seems that the effort in quality is being lost. I was torn between 2 and 3 stars.

    Good Happy Hour Deals!

I've been going here off and on for years. They have a great Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday. I love the crunchy tacos best. There is a lovely self-serve salsa bar with tostada chips you can help yourself to.

It's been a hot minute since I've been to Baja Sonora, and it did not disappoint. We came in around 6 on a Friday. It was busy but we were able to order quickly and there were still tables available. I was craving a fish taco and ordered the one taco combo. The toppings on the taco were perfect and the piece of fish was generous. I ended up separating it into two tacos! Hubby got the torta and teenager got the California burrito. Both had plenty of meat. We love the chip and salsa bar, which also has lime slices for the Diet Coke. I like the medium salsa; the mild tastes like ketchup. It was $50 for three of us including drinks. The place is festively decorated and has a couple of TVs with sports.

Baja Senora is just the kind of place I want when I'm in the mood for rice and beans and maybe an entree. Luckily for me, the rice and beans at Baja Senora slap. We shared a lil crunchy taco to start. For $4.75, you get something called a deep fried hard taco filled with your choice of protein (chicken for us) and topped with shredded lettuce and a mound of shredded cheese. It was good (?) though I don't think I'll be venturing down that court again. For my entree, I ordered the two enchilada combo ($14.95). Here, you can mix and match your enchiladas so I ordered one chicken and one cheese. They're smothered in enchilada sauce and topped with melted cheese. Of the two, I preferred the cheese. The chicken enchilada was nothing more than shredded chicken, which is fine, but a little dry for my preference. They also offer unlimited chips and salsa. The chips are giant tortilla disks which I find fun. Salsa selection is excellent. Overall, Baja Senora is giving what it needs to give.

Fried Hard Potato Tacos soo good. My favorite thing to eat at this restaurant. Simple and delicious.

I had a taste for Mexican food put the information in the Yelp search engine and chose Baja Sonora. I have eaten at Baja Sonora for many years when they were located in Bixby Knolls I was sad to see them close, the food was consistently good and in walking distance from my condo. The location on Clark is small I have eaten here a few times but stopped coming over 4 years ago because life was lifing and now I have returned. The restaurant is clean and fairly packed on Veterans Day. I chose my lunch and place my order. My order Bean and cheese burrito. $7.99 With extra cheese wet with spicy green sauce. They covered my burrito in red sauce I didn't bother to say anything because I was annoyed that I didn't double check my receipt but I am positive that I asked for spicy green sauce. To be fair my burrito was delicious the beans were yummy and the red sauce was very good next time I'll check my receipt. 8/10 Potato tacos. $9.50 Two hard tacos with soft potato filling lettuce cheese and mild salsa I loved them. 10/10 A side of Spicy Pork Chili Verde $9.95 Not sure it was worth the price especially not having any sides with it but overall it was good the pork was tender and the sauce was very spicy and perfectly seasoned. 8/10 I would order this again but I will keep it original chili verde and not spicy because after a few bites I was over the heat. Free Salsa bar Was just like I remembered I love the variety and the fried tostada to break up and eat with the salsa. Mild red salsa 8/10 Tangy and mild I love this with potato tacos. Spicy xx Salsa 10/10 It has a nice kick and it's my favorite to drown over my food. Mild Salsa 8/10 Mild flavorful perfect on everything. Green Salsa 10/10 Tangy and flavorful. Medium Salsa 10/10 Chunky spicy delicious. My total was $34.53 Overall I had an uneventful visit inside the restaurant but there were families with small kids sneezing all over the place making me Covid nervous ( I had a mask on) and I am a bit gun shy around lil crumb snatchers that sneeze and touch ish. lol I finished my potato taco, it was bomb I added xx spicy salsa and mild red sauce I packed up ate my second taco in the car and headed home. I highly recommend you visit. I will return again if only for my favorite simple yet delicious potato tacos as a to go order. Until next time. Just me Shawn C.

Baja Sanora is one of my go to places for quality Mexican food. They have a large menu and lots of veggie items. The have a chips and salsa bar and a drunk station in the dining room. I'm a Carne Asada fajitas man. That's what I get at any Mexican restaurant if they make them. There is a lot of seating indoor and a few tables for outdoor dining. Prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Highly recommend.

    Helen Y.

This is my first time coming here. I was craving some enchiladas and my family was craving some tacos. The owner is very friendly and greets all the customers. Service was quick. The food came out hot. They have a self serve chip and salsa station which was very nice and well stocked. The portion of the food was also decent, and the price was good. The taste however, was just very mid. Nothing stood out, but it did its job of satisfying my craving. I wouldn't recommend the fish tacos, but I would come back for their taco tues deals and try out their other dishes.

    Plastic in the carnitas burrito.

We are regular customers here, unfortunately my grandson found a hair in the carnitas burrito then at the same time my daughter found plastic inside the carnitas burrito, we are so grossed out that we decided to stop eating altogether. San that a place we regarded for a while comes down too low. It's incredible how they disregard cleanliness and quality of their food. Cut the desire to buy again and our family dinner turned a mess. Makeup your own response to this, but we won't be back anymore!!

Albondigas soup with carrots and potatoes and cucumbers underneath my own soup bowl! It was a to go order.
    Randy O.

I wasn't feeling well today but had a hankering for some Mexican food so I stopped by Baja Sonora for one of their combos #1 - which includes 2 hard shell tacos shredded beef rice and beans included with that and I needed some soup so I went with Albondigas soup- meatball soup. I haven't been here before but this place is busy and authentic. I had my order to go tonight! Tacos were delicious, rice and beans were Luke warm when I got home it was ok. Soup was good, a bit disappointed with the rice and beans. Overall the food was good, I'll rate it a 3.5!

Great spot. The Baja burrito is a brick of a ton of goodness. There is an open salsa bar and all you can drink horchata and fountain drinks. The refried beans are legit.

    Chili verde burrito wet.
    Erin H.

Overall meal was great and staff very friendly. Found parking right outside during lunchtime. Order was prepared quickly and most of all food was delicious. Hard tacos are always good and also tried this visit the wet chili verde burrito. Very flavorful and large enough to have plenty for lunch and dinner.

    Soft chicken tacos
    Kathy N.

We came here regularly when we lived in Long Beach and often come back when we're in the area. There's no better bargain around for food quantity for the price. Combo meals are around $14-15 and include generous meat, large portions of rice and beans, and a refillable drink. Plus free chip and salsa bar. I had shrimp soft tacos this time, and there were about ten shrimp in each. I had the same thing at a much pricier restaurant a few weeks ago that had only three small shrimp per taco and a lot of veggie filler. You may run into one of the owners bustling around, and the checker had been there for years when we moved away seven years ago and is still there. She's always extremely efficient and knowledgeable. The only negative IMO is that parking can be a challenge. Don't overlook that additional parking is available at each end of the strip mall via a route around and behind the buildings. Just be careful - it's narrow with sharp turns and might be too much for larger vehicles. This is not authentic Mexican food, so if that's what you're looking for, you may not be pleased. But if you like the Americanized version, as I do, go for it!

    Ground beef, crunchy taco
    Lizeth S.

Parking is limited, you walk in using the door to the right to place your order/ pay and then find a seat if you're lucky. They will bring out the food to you. Service is friendly. Food? Ummm, welll not trying to be rude but being Mexican from the motherland myself it was a huge disappointment. Rice needs Jesus to be saved, it's very unflavored and I'm assuming used as a plate filler. Beans are palatable if you add salt. The 2 crunchy tacos I got were not good. The ground beef one was "ok" but the potato one was just plain bad. My husband ordered a Chile verde pork spicy. That was honestly good, tender and good flavor. He also ordered a chicken crunchy taco. Chicken tasted refrigerated and not fresh. Think a rotisserie chicken when it gets freezer burn.. you know the taste. Let's call this place a bland Tex-Mex spot. Still, staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean.

First of all one of their workers with the mastche and tattoos is so cute which is always a plus for the ambiance. It didn't take long to get our food. About 5 minutes and they brought it out to where we sat since we dined in. First of all! You need to get an aguas fresca. We got the medium for the orange mango and the Jamaica. They are so natural. I'm a huge fan of artificial flavor so this was a huge shock, but it pairs so well with their food. My only regret isn't getting the large. For the food we got the burrito 2.0 asada and the chivichanga chicken. The burrito was great but very heavy on the beans. Make sure you get extra green salsa. It's their best and a perfect balance of salty with a hint of sweet. The red salsa gets spicy. If you can't handle hot Cheetos don't eat it. Now the chivichanga thing was perfect. It's so tiny but the fact it's about $5 was perfect. I have never had something so well priced and portioned before. The way I can describe it if you ever wanted to taste high class Taco Bell that will make you want four more then you need to try it. And I mean this in the best way possible. It's so cheesy and savory and yummy!!! Truly just from these two dishes we will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Our next dishes is to try the tacos!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.

Great location, shoreline village. View of the boats, relaxing and on a Sunday, it's hard to beat…read morethe atmosphere. So I ordered a Bloody Mary and their Version is extremely sweet. So I had to return it . I the ordered a Coronita Margarita and that is/was tasty. They do have many different offerings of tequilas. And honestly fairly priced. I started with the Fondido de queso basically a Chorizo fondue. It was very good, only the chips were stale. Not all the chips so just so you know, I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas. The service has been very accommodating. The flavor from the mole was perfect, smooth rich a touch of heat and chocolate. Very flavorful and with the sides of black beans and rice, a tasty pairing. There is side of sweet corn , completing the plate. Great dish. I arrived at 1130 which apparently was the best time. By noon the place was packed and jumping. TVs for the games and plenty of room, so not so crowded despite the amount of people. Great place for a date , or family/friends gathering.

What an awful Tourist Trap. This is a place that once you come one, you will never return - and…read more the level of service and quality of food reflects that management knowledge. First interaction: They advertise a Happy Hour on M-F from 5-6 PM We had this interaction with a server in the bar. "Can we get an order in before Happy Hour is up?" Server "Of course. (Looking at phone the time on their phone). What would you like?" We order. Drinks are brought over along with the check for full price drinks. Me "Can you please fix this check? It's not 6 yet and you are still on Happy Hour, that's why we rushed over." Server "Oh yeah, today we don't have Happy Hour so there is no discount." Me "What so you mean, we ordered these drinks on Happy Hour and now you are telling us there is no Happy Hour as advertised." Server: "Well, we don't do Happy Hour when there is an event in the area, so they are full price." Second interaction (after waiting 45 minutes for a table in the restaurant). We ordered the "made to order table side guac" for 15.50 for an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, a guac is delivered to the table that was either run through a blender or was taken from a tub with a spoonful of pico mixed in. So much for the advertised table side experience or fresh avocado. The guac we buy at Trader Joe's and from Costco are way better. Third Interaction when ordering an entree. I order enchiladas and they have red or green sauce. I ask, Can I get both red sauce on one and green sauce on the other? Response, "well there's an extra charge for that". Besides being lied to about "Happy Hour" and about the "Table-side" Guac and them being told a basic request is going to cost extra, it's is c extremely clear that this place has no respect for their customers and no expectation that anyone will return. I know the 6 local people in our group will never return.
