The new space is beautiful both inside and out, with shaded seating areas on three sides of the building. Inside, the restaurant has multiple rooms with a beautiful bakery in the center. We started with a cinnamon roll split 4 ways. Absolutely delicious. The burrito with avocado was super fresh and tasty. The scramble with bacon was huge and breakfast potatoes super tasty and well cooked. The senior meal was huge and enjoyed. The only letdown was the egg and sausage sandwich. Opted for the croissant upgrade. And checked we got a croissant. Restaurant says yes - we say it was more like a hamburger bun. Nothing like a croissant. Service was good. We waited 20 minutes for a table at 10:30am. This newly relocated breakfast spot with soon to come lunch is sure to stay popular. read more

I normally never write a bad review for anyone. I have heard of Mama Kat's for years. I am a local of North County. I have driven pass the old location several times always telling myself I need to try this place out. When I heard they changed locations to a bigger locations, I thought they must be doing good. I never read any reviews of this place. Today was our 1st time going since the new location opened a month ago. We got there and was told 30 to 45min wait. We were fine with that. It's a Sunday excepted done church traffic. We were happy to find out we were seated in 15min. But, after that 10min for server to arrive. Another 15min to take a order. Then 30 to 40min for food to arrive. During this time I asked the waiter what was the holdup, he assured me the food was coming right out. 15min later still no food. I asked for the manger. His response was and proud to the fact they have always been known for long wait times to get in and long wait times for food to come out....... Ummmm that's not something to be proud about. Honestly I would think things are better for you if your being a bigger place, to me it means you are doing better. But, then he told me it's worth the wait. Sorry at this point nothing is worth the wait when your waiting that long. Unfortunately, this was the 1st and last time we come here. It's sad because the new place looks nice. read more

Opted for the grab-n-go section as it would have been an hour wait for seated service Sunday morning. The chocolate chip muffin didn't have a good distribution of actual chocolate chips as you could see from cutting a cross section - once I found the chips they seemed to mostly be clumped at the bottom. I ordered a breakfast burrito - apparently they ran out of bacon and were looking for my partner and I to see what we'd wanna do instead. They couldn't find us so just replaced it with sausage which I wasn't happy with. I've been waiting for the new location to open, so I was excited to finally try it! We went on a weekday morning around 9 a.m. and only had about a 15-minute wait. Unfortunately, once we were seated, it took forever for our server to come over. It was about an hour before we were able to order, and then another hour before our food came out. And it was just two of us. It also felt really hot inside, almost like the AC wasn't working. We decided to give it another try Saturday and brought our family. We were hoping to go with another family, which would have made a party of 7, but they couldn't accommodate us. No big deal -- we asked about just 4 of us, and they told us it would be a 3-hour wait. Lol, okay. I like the food, but it's definitely not worth a 3-hour wait. There were quite a few empty tables, so I'm guessing they may just be short-staffed right now. Hopefully they get everything figured out because the food is good and I'd like to be able to come back! One other thing that really rubs me the wrong way: they allow reservations, but you have to pay to make one. And no, it's not a deposit -- it's an actual charge. I'm not a fan of that at all. This restaurant has always been my favorite breakfast spot in north county. Over the years, they have built out a fantastic vegan menu as well, and they also have plenty of gluten-free options. The quality has always been high and it's always had that feeling of being run by a family. They recently closed their original location and reopened here in a new location that is much bigger. The new location was previously a brewery, so there are a lot of those elements leftover here in the decor and layout, so it has changed the restaurant feel from a homey diner to a more modern restaurant vibe. Today the new location has been open for 9 days and it was super busy. We got in around 10:30 and waited 65 minutes to be seated, then were seated at the bar seating anyways. After ordering, it took 35 minutes to get our food. This is worse than I'm used to at the old location, where food came out as quickly as you'd expect. I'm guessing this will get better with time and they're still just figuring out their new rhythm with this new restaurant. There were many more empty tables in the restaurant that weren't being used, which I assume is just limited by their current staff numbers. I don't know if they plan to increase their staff size or not, but I did see a sign on the door mentioning that a new lunch menu would be coming soon! There are now 3 waiting areas where you can sit and wait for them to call out their name. They don't have a text system in place, so you still have to wait here in person. (We would have waited in the air conditioning of our car and listened to an audiobook if we could have.) The staff were all the same folks from their old location. They were friendly as ever! As for the food, it's just as great as ever! Would highly recommend this place if you can get here early or tolerate the wait. The wait is well worth it! read more

What?! They have relocated! They have relocated to the ideal spot! Plenty, plenty of parking! Large building (have not seen anyone waiting to be seated) and open floor setting! Plenty, plenty of outdoor seating too! I asked to be seated at the bar. The host asked if I would like to sit at the outdoor bar seating. It is warm today, but I opted to sit at the outdoor bar. I'm so glad I did. There's a good breeze working on my side. It's a bit more quiet and I could check out everything from where I am sitting and doing this review. They even have a little fire pit and stage area (maybe they'll bring in live music!). My order was the Breakfast Fried Rice and the Aisukohi (a technique of how the coffee is prepared) Iced Coffee. I enjoyed both the meal and coffee. I did love the green onion topping on the rice which I do at home too! The slices of kielbasas were nice and crispy! Great dish if you don't want a sweet breakfast. My dish also came with toast, I selected the sourdough. Jam is available and it is made here at the restaurant! I selected the mixed berry and the strawberry and I found both to be tasty. There are plenty of other savory dishes to select from. Cameron, my server is one of the daughters that work here. I love that this is a family affair. Just like the first location the servers were fantastic with the customers, and always quick to keep the customers happy. Cameron has a great personality and is like a ray of sunshine walking around! I hate to leave my perfect seat here at the bar! I will end my review by saying I will absolutely return in a heart beat and I can't wait to share this new location with my family and friends! They just opened at this location this past Friday. Our first time here since they moved. The place is well organized and spacious. I loved the outside eating areas too. They seated us right away. The coffee was very good! Food was delivered in about 15 minutes on a Sunday morning. The server was attentive. All our food was good. First... I definitely recommend making a reservation otherwise you will have to wait. They have a ton of outdoor space to wait and you can even bring your furry friend with you and sit on the outside patio. They appear to be still moving in to the location as the decor is going up slowly and they are working to make it their own. the staff are friendly and always moving. The juices made fresh are delightful and refreshing. The corn beef hash was homemade and not from a can, had the right amount of flavor and was delicious. This new location is AMAZING!! It's spacious and beautifully decorated making for a sophisticated yet comfortably environment! I love that they have a cafe section where you can grab their amazing coffees and drinks along with pastries to go or just sit and enjoy them self service. The restaurant has a ton of seating both inside and out! While you are waiting for your table (yes it's worth the wait) they have comfy couches to sit in or browse the eclectic gifts they have around the indoor/outdoor waiting areas! Honestly the service was fine, I'd rate it a 6/10 not rude by any means but just super direct and felt pushed though the whole order. We went to their old location and waited 30 minutes for a table, then when they moved I thought it would be different, but waited the same time, not upset at that it's too be expected. The thing that has not changed, old location, waited 45 minutes for the food to be brought out after the 30 min wait for the table, and the food was like not special, good, but not anything outstanding. The coffees aren't crazy either. The crazy thing is, even with the bigger kitchen, we still waited 46 minutes for the food at the new location after waiting. Don't bother to call. It's all automated and you can't get any option to speak to a human being. If you want to make a reservation they refer you to the website and hangs up automatically. You go to the website and it states that reservations must be made 8 hours in advance and on top of that you have to pay to reserve a table. read more

The new location is really nice! We got that at 7:30am and were quoted about a 35-40 minute wait, which we didn't mind since they have a little play area for the kids. Unfortunately, there wasn't much shade in the play area, so it got pretty hot. I did like that you're able to order coffee while you wait, and there's plenty of waiting space. We were seated after about 45 minutes and were given a table outside. Our table only had a little bit of shade, but we were able to make it work. Our server was nice and took our order pretty quickly. The disappointing part was that it took another 45ish minutes for our food to come out. By the time we got it, the food was a little cold. We didn't want to make a big deal about it or send anything back because we had already waited so long and our kids were starving. Overall, I think the new location has a lot of potential and the staff was friendly, but the wait for the food was definitely tough, especially with little kids. The wait is always super long even if you go early and it's definitely because they don't occupy a lot of the space and area they have. I'm not sure if this is because their kitchen isn't big enough to serve a huge amount of ppl given the space or what but it just seems weird. Also, they don't take phone numbers they just take your name which seems weird because most places take a number and text you when the table is ready but instead you're forced to wait in the areas designated until they yell out your name and if you aren't in those 3 areas then you miss your spot. First of all, I love the new location! So roomy! This was our second time eating here when we were in town on an errand. The last was in the old location. I ordered a veggie scramble and it was delicious! Lots of fresh veggies and I chose their house potatoes (forgot what they called them) but I like better than hash browns. The wheat bread was really good too - not like the cheap stuff you get at many breakfast places. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but they have nice areas to walk around and even some swag for sale. The service was great - our server was friendly and efficient. The place is a little pricey for breakfast but honestly, everywhere is these days. And I don't mind when the food and service is so good.
