    Over-done Pizza...

The pizza is just so oily and sometimes I let that go for the sake of a quick grab and go...but tonight the pie was burnt and they did nothing about it. Just so disappointed. Is it really that hard to make pizza?

    New(ish) location!

So Mama Leah's Pizza is still open! Who knew? Because I definitely did not, and finding my way back here yesterday was such a happy surprise! When I was in high school I would eat pizza from here at least once a week with my friends. I always loved it and looked forward to grabbing a slice. I moved away from the area for nearly a decade and that's the last I ever heard about Mama Leah's. When I moved back I never saw it on Reisterstown Road and stupidly thought they had closed. So yesterday when I was in Pikesville looking for a place to stop for lunch imagine my surprise when I realized that Mama Leah's merely relocated! The pizza was as good as I remember it. They are heavy on the cheese, which I love, and the sauce is definitely a sweeter variety. I came in and told them how happy I was to return and they were so very nice. I ordered the lunch special, which was 2 slices of cheese pizza with 1 medium fountain soda for $5.25. The slices are very big - the 2 slices were more than I would ever ordinarily eat for lunch, but they have a credit card minimum of $5 and I was blissfully forced into gluttony. The restaurant was very quiet and I was able to enjoy my lunch break and read. It's definitely not much to look at, and has a lot of things that are on the older side (the chairs are really scratched up, etc.) but I didn't mind. I will definitely be back, both for lunch AND for the Israeli pizza - eggplant is mixed into the sauce and it's topped with cheese and falafel!!! This is now on my short list of Baltimore foods to try, and once I do I'm going to write all about it! Know that this place is Kosher, which means their hours and menu will reflect accordingly. They close early on Friday (at 2:30pm) and re-open on Saturday nights one hour after Shabbat ends. You're also not going to find some otherwise standard fare pizza toppings (like any type of meat). But it's an awesome, no frills pizza place that makes me feel nostalgic. I love it!

    Lunch special-so good!

It appears that they are under new management. Service was much better and the pizza was pretty good

Food here was below average. The pizza was really grease. It took them 45 minutes to get me a plain slice. The floors are so slippery.

Extremely Disappointed -- Loyal Customer Treated Poorly:…read more I've been a loyal customer at Yesh for years, even held my Sheva Brachos here and used to come weekly. But after today's experience, I won't be returning unless the situation is made right. The person preparing my shawarma was clearly new and overfilled the salad, leaving no room for the full portion of meat I paid for. I politely asked her to remove some salad so she could add the rest of the meat, and before she could even respond, the mashgiach abruptly stepped in and refused in a rude, dismissive way. His tone was completely uncalled for, especially when I was calmly trying to explain that I just wanted what I paid for. Not only was I shorted on the meat, but I was treated with total disrespect. That kind of behavior drives away loyal customers. The mashgiach was out of line and should not be interacting with paying customers, frankly, he should be replaced if Yesh wants to keep its good name and stay in business. At the very least, I expect Yesh to make this right with a proper shawarma meal, meat-filled as it should have been, along with the fries and drink I ordered, on the house. That's the bare minimum for how this situation should be handled. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

I had a corned beef sandwich, a knish, and a bottled soda and it cost me almost $30. The corned beef sandwich cost like 16 and I think it was literally just a bit of corned beef between two slices of toasted rye bread. It was so unremarkable, I barely even remember it. I would've been much better off going to the Harvest Fare supermarket and getting whatever is comparable. Their sandwiches are quite good, packed with ingredients, and large, and only like 5 minutes away from this place. It took no fewer than 15 minutes to come out and the girl at the register had a bit of attitude. Hmm. The restaurant is OK. Spacious and decent lighting and I think the owner or manager or whoever it was looked like a kindly and warm person. The business does not seem to advertise itself too aggressively. It's located in a nondescript business that barely looked like it's open and has minimal signage. The knish was good though. Warm and nice and soft. I still remember that one. I can't recommend based on the price and the lack of any sort of innovation, taste, or quality that would justify said price. However, I think that's probably a plus for the restaurant and its patrons. It feels like it's meant to keep certain people out and serve as a place for certain people to congregate.
