Our family thinks Mama Leah's pizza is the best in town, but their delivery through ChowNow is the WORST. ChowNow uses uber/lyft drivers who are inclined to take better jobs, delaying the pizza order. There have been multiple instances where I never received my pizza, waited more than 2 hours, etc. and while ChowNow did refund me, I was relying on pizza to be dinner and it's extremely disappointing and inconvenient to not have a dinner after you've been waiting 2-3 hours for one. I go here a lot and it is safe to say that this place has its pros and cons. For starters, the pizza is quite good, probably the best kosher pizza in Baltimore even if it is very greasy. The food is great. The owner causes the place to lose costumers. He doesn't care about costumer service or costumer opinions. Instead of assisting with mistakes, he insists it's right and that he won't do anything about a mistake. I know numerous people who stopped going back thanks to the owner. He basically tells the person to jump in a lake instead of trying to listen to their feedback or assist them. I placed a large order in advance from Mama Leah's for my daughter's birthday party last month, but unfortunately we had to cancel the party at the last minute when the venue had a serious issue. I called the restaurant expecting to be out of luck in cancelling our no-longer-needed order, but they were so understanding and kind about the whole thing. So when the rescheduled party took place yesterday I made sure to order with Mama Leah's again, and their pizza was just as great as their customer service. Whole wheat pizza is awful! We keep giving them another chance and each time the pizza is worse. We've had crust with gaping holes, burnt pizza that was inedible and crust that was so thin you could see through it. They should either stop making whole wheat crust pizza or say "sorry, we don't have enough for two pizzas tonight." Welp, one thing I hate is the okie doke! And we were served up a biiiiiig portion of it tonight on 3/19/2019. When we arrived, we were told that today was a holiday (thank goodness for google). We were told they closed at 6 PM. Well why is it that at 8:30 PM when I arrived was the door still open AND there was still staff there?!? Especially if you closed 2 1/2 hours ago? This is kosher pizza. All the ingredients kosher. Sometimes that means the cheese behaves and tastes a little different. If I didn't know that, It is one of the best slices I ever had, outside of New York, that is. It is the best kosher pizza I ever had, including New York. Heavy on cheese. But the cheese is good! But the great part is the crust. Nice dough and crispy. This is a thicker pizza sweeter sauce like Boston pie. This is great for conveyor belt pizza. And this is not a kids slice. Now, you will not find meats here. Plain or veggie only. I know kosher places that make pizzas with vegetable, soy substitutes for meat. Eh. Don't bother. Id rather have the real thing. Mama leah's used to be a decent pizza place when it was owned by the previous owner on Mt. Wilson Lane. Now its a filthy dump with slow service, rude staff and expensive subpar food. When Marc Prince took over it went downhill fast. The staff is rude. They don't answer the phone. They lose orders, mess up orders, make excuses, lie to customers and the food isnt even good. The pizza is thin as paper and hard as cardboard. The manager fleischman is rude and obnoxious. He hung up on us while we were trying to put in an order. He admitted so when we called back. We had too many questions for him and he hung up until we knew our exact order. The last time my spouse didn't even finish their food. It was dry and overcooked and disgusting. I've been coming to Mama Leah's for as long as I can remember, having grown up in Baltimore under a kosher diet. I visited twice last week on a recent trip back to the area, my first time at the restaurant since moving out of state. I'm not sure if it's the fact the place has been under new management for some time now, but unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed this time as I had been a few years back. The location is central (in a large shopping center right in the heart of Pikesville by several other kosher establishments), which is convenient, but finding decent parking is a challenge. The restaurant is large, but could be cleaner. Service was very disorganized and slow. I did feel the price was about average, and the pizza is quite tasty, although the fries are extremely greasy and soft. Overall, not the worst but also not the best option out there. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but the food wasn't that good at all.. The pizza had cheese that im not sure was cheese (watery white supermarket cheese), there was barely any sauce to the point where it was just cheese and bread, but the bread was fine. The fries were incredibly soggy and tasted like actual cardboard(flavorless and tasted like paper) , and I couldn't bring myself to finish anything it was so unfavorable. The only good thing was the staff, they were really friendly and accommodating. I don't know if it was a bad day or something, but I will probably not be coming back. Just going through my yelp account looking around and noticed how I took this photo and remembered how I was visiting Baltimore (I'm fromNY) and I had a disagreement about the amount I paid and the manager told me to leave (with paying for 2 pies and receiving no pizza) or he would call the police. The entire staff was wearing properly fitting masks and are enforcing social distancing guidelines. So Mama Leah's Pizza is still open! Who knew? Because I definitely did not, and finding my way back here yesterday was such a happy surprise! When I was in high school I would eat pizza from here at least once a week with my friends. I always loved it and looked forward to grabbing a slice. I moved away from the area for nearly a decade and that's the last I ever heard about Mama Leah's. When I moved back I never saw it on Reisterstown Road and stupidly thought they had closed. So yesterday when I was in Pikesville looking for a place to stop for lunch imagine my surprise when I realized that Mama Leah's merely relocated! The pizza was as good as I remember it. They are heavy on the cheese, which I love, and the sauce is definitely a sweeter variety. I came in and told them how happy I was to return and they were so very nice. I ordered the lunch special, which was 2 slices of cheese pizza with 1 medium fountain soda for $5.25. The slices are very big - the 2 slices were more than I would ever ordinarily eat for lunch, but they have a credit card minimum of $5 and I was blissfully forced into gluttony. The restaurant was very quiet and I was able to enjoy my lunch break and read. It's definitely not much to look at, and has a lot of things that are on the older side (the chairs are really scratched up, etc.) but I didn't mind. I will definitely be back, both for lunch AND for the Israeli pizza - eggplant is mixed into the sauce and it's topped with cheese and falafel!!! This is now on my short list of Baltimore foods to try, and once I do I'm going to write all about it! Know that this place is Kosher, which means their hours and menu will reflect accordingly. They close early on Friday (at 2:30pm) and re-open on Saturday nights one hour after Shabbat ends. You're also not going to find some otherwise standard fare pizza toppings (like any type of meat). But it's an awesome, no frills pizza place that makes me feel nostalgic. I love it! read more

The cheese is a melty and chewy combination of tangy and sweet, with just the right amount of "grease" on the top (yeah, pat it off with a napkin). The sauce is JUST RIGHT: not too tart, not too spicy, not overloaded with inferior oregano. i LOVE THE CRUST: it's on the thin side on the pie and is chewy and doughy on the edges. This is kosher pizza that is NOT crafted to only suit the taste of a 3-year old. A small order of regular fries was done to perfection, not soggy or greasy, and salted to suit most tastes. I found this pizza place in Yelp. The reviews were good so why not. It's a typical carry out with seating indoors and outdoors. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. It was lunch time so it was a bit crowded. I only ordered 2 slices of pizza. The pizza was very good. I would definitely return. This place has gone downhill in a bad way. Customer service is almost non-existent. The workers barely look at you when you walk in. Ordering takes forever and the worst part is that the pizza which used to be great is pretty poor now. No one seems to be willing to help in any way. Placed an order by phone recently. When I arrived there was several people on line. I walked to the front to say I had placed an order but was told I needed to wait in line. What is the purpose of placing an order? And then the order was wrong. No "I'm sorry, let's make it up to you" just "it'll be another 20 minutes if you still want it". The pizza is great, best crust in town. But the store is covered in a layer of grease, and the people working the register are gross. I get that it may be hard to find the highest quality people, but it only takes common sense to make sure your hands are clean and/or put on gloves before handling food. I've witnessed the front counter person(s), at different times, picking their nose, eating a slice of pizza then wiping their mouth with hand, and taking cash for an order then handling slices of pizza with same dirty hands. Good Pizza but NOT for parties. We've been customers of Mama Leah's Pizza, preferring them over every other pizza place in Baltimore, until we counted on them to deliver 7 pizzas for my son's 5th birthday party. I placed the order on Wednesday the week before and paid in full via credit card over the phone. I specifically asked if I needed to call them Sunday morning to remind them of the delivery scheduled for 12:30pm. They reassured me saying they do this all the time and have a system in place. Moreover, they open at 11am on Sundays so even if I called the main number earlier, no one would have picked up. Sunday, the day of the party, I called to ask where the delivery guy was at 12:45 because he was already running behind and we only reserved the party room for a 2 hour window. My information and order was verified and they told me he left already and should be there in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I called to ask where he was again because he still hadn't shown up and was told that they lied to me the first time to buy themselves time to make and deliver 7 pizzas because they misplaced my order and hadn't begun to work on it until I called the first time. I asked to talk to the manager who of course was very apologetic. They issued a full refund and proceeded to deliver 7 free pizzas that arrived around 3pm and after most of our 40 guests who were counting on us for lunch left the party. Even though I was upset that they had misplaced our order I was absolutely furious that they would lie to me about it just to buy time to fill the order late. I will not be counting on Mama Leahs Pizza for parties in the future and I recommend you don't either. read more

I cant believe the reviews on here. I stopped here for lunch today and ordered the baked ziti. One of the employees walked in the back and not more than a sec walked back out with a container already having the baked ziti in it he removed the lid then sent it thru the pizza oven they did this twice then put the same lid back on and i took it to go when i started to eat it it was horrible i looked at the lid and it had the date 11-28-16 on it so this was either the day it should have been expired or the day they made it but still served it 10 days later. I should have known better the place looks run down, and dirty the refrigerator they kept the salad toppings was see thru and disgusting the health dept really should inspect this place. i would never give this place a second chance no matter what.
