I have nothing good to say about this place, sorry. I've been here several times with family as it's a convenient location to meet them for dinner. Nothing I've had here is good. Chicken parm, pasta pomodoro, pesto pasta, veal saltimbocca, chicken in a pink sauce with spinach... I'm out of options to try. My family and I (8 of us) came here the day after Thanksgiving and I tried to order pizza to split with my husband. The manager told me he didn't allow pizzas to be ordered in the dining room- essentially because it's not as expensive as an entree. I instead ordered a recommended personal pan pizza (the Rustica one) and it was the worst pizza I've ever had (and how can pizza even be bad in NY?!) I couldn't even eat it, so I filled up on bruschetta and rolls instead. The best part was that the dining room was completely empty at 7pm. Yet the manager said "can't do it". There is a very good reason that Mama Lisa's is crowded even when we eat at unfashionably early hours; that is true for the main dining room and the more casual take out section. The menu is large and varied; there is a wonderful selection of dishes from which to choose- pastas, chicken, veal, fish, seafood, pizza. There is something for everyone. The service is pretty fast; the servers are caring and concerned. The delicious bread arrives warm from the oven and is hard to resist. The soups are thick, rich and flavorful and with the YUMMY bread could be a meal in and of themselves. My pasta fagioli is loaded with beans and ditalini pasta and is terrific. My husband ordered the minestrone soup and he is likewise very enchanted with it. Our friends order the appetizer portion of the fried calamari and it is an enormous portion and they are both very, very enthusiastic about it; it is light and tender and not at all chewy or rubbery. For the main dish, I ordered the chicken franchise and it is a more than ample portion - 3 nice sized, breasts, a lemony,flavorful dish After the wonderful bowl of soup I can only eat one of the three slices. My only request would be that the bow tie pasta which I ordered could have been cooked al dente. The sauce was sweet and delicious and they were happy to bring more of it, as requested very promptly. My husband ordered the chicken Saltimbocca which was also 3 tender slices of chicken breast topped with sautéed spinach, sliced prosciutto and melted mozzarella cheese. It was really wonderful. It was also accompanied by pasta and he managed to polish off the entire dish. . The bus boy was exceptionally eager to whisk away the dishes when he thought we were finished. All of us were too full to have dessert and coffee, however, I feel that it is safe to say that the desserts are probably of the same high quality and fresh ingredients as a rest of the food. Friday evening (430) my wife picked up a pizza to go and a hot bushetta appetizer. The appetizer was good but soggy. That happens sometimes when you put hot food in a closed tin. Maybe they should have put it on a paper plate in a paper bag. However the pizza was burnt!!, no excuse for that. You could see from the top of the pizza it was black on the crust and the bottom was completely black. No excuse for that. Needless to say we threw it out and toasted the bushetta which was tasting even better after the burnt pizza. read more

I have been to Italy many times and always get great pleasure out of dining at Mamma Lisa. My favorite is their Veal pizziola. When out of town and I order this dish And it is not even close To the one made at Mamma Lisa. Most places add peppers and onions which absolutely kills the dinner completely. The addition of these items sweetens and takes away the distinctive oregano and basil flavor of the dinner. I dine there quite often and every visit is a pleasurable experience in every way. I was very dis pointed Iit was Jan 2 at 6:00 my family and I was having dining for my Birthdaythe service was fine the waiter was good but my son who is 25 ordered breaded chicken cutlet with lemon wedges he thought it tasted funny but was not sure if it was the salsa by 11:30 he was woken up throwing his guts up .Today he has excruciating pain in his stomach and can not hold down a sip of water . This lovely little restaurant was recommended by a co worker. My wife and I coming from Brooklyn, well, we have very high expectations when it comes to Italian food. Mama Lisa's is a diamond in the rough in Long Island. Usually Long Island food and service is sub par, but not this place. The service is just about the best I have seen in a very long time. Our server was kind, considerate, attentive and best of all, ensured we had everything we needed. The food was good. My Salmon was overcooked, but everything else we ordered was spot on. Then there is one of the most delicious home made tiramisu I have ever eaten. YUMMY! If you are ever in the Mastic area, stop by this little gem, well worth the trip. read more

One of the best places ever. The seating area is casual, but very comfy, accommodating any party size with large TV's. The service is always excellent, including the food and wine selection. Even the bread has a unique homemade taste, making you want more. The pizza, specifically the Sicilian slice, is delicious. Nothing tops the sauce at this place. Their dinner / lunch menus offer a huge choice selection. I personally love the Pasta combo 1, which offers a plate of ravioli, baked ziti, stuffed shells, and manicotti. Huge menu!!! There was so much to choose from, which was awesome! As an appetizer we ordered the garlic bread with bruschetta on top. It was okay! It wasn't what I was expecting. As a meal I ordered the chicken Parmesan with penne ala vodka on the side. They both were very good! My boyfriend ordered a seafood platter which came with pretty much everything..mussels, lobster, clams, shrimp. Disgusting is all I can say. We have been there several times and each time was not good. Today we went for lunch we ordered the shrimp cocktail which was ok. The baked clams were the size of a quarter and had no taste. The salad was just a bland salad with non ripe tomatoes. The lasagna with meat sauce had more cheese than anything and was terrible. This rating is based on the service and not the food. The food was actually really good. The portions were huge. We had to take more than half of the food with us. The service we experienced was terrible form the start. We walked in at 8pm for dinner and the hostess had her back to us. Someone else cane over and seated us. She was young and very sweet. The hostess (I assume) that had her back to us must have been off and eventually made her way to the bar where she sat and talked to the other employees. We sat at our table for at least 20 mins without having anyone come by. The sweet hostess walked by and asked if anyone had come by yet. We said no and then a young man cane by 10 mins later. He looked mad and clearly didn't want to wait on us. My coworker asked if he could recommend a drink option or meal and he said no. We placed a drink order and an appetizer order since we weren't sure if we'd see him again since it took that long in the first place. Our appetizer came 20 mins later, still no drinks but we had water because that guy was on point. We had more attention from him then our waiter. The general manager wanted over to several tables around us and asked about the service and food. He never came to us. We finally got our drinks and our food. The food was great except the soup. The soup (minestrone) my favorite tasted like canned vegetable soup. I had one spoonful and couldn't eat the rest. We asked for boxes for our food and the waiter tossed it on our table and basically through the bag on our table. Our new came with coffee and desert but our waiter was so rude about getting us coffee we decided to just pay and leave. He brought the check quickly which we both found funny. He also grabbed the signed receipt quickly as well. We noticed that the people who received great service were Italian. We felt very uncomfortable the whole time as if we weren't welcome. The staff looked at us as if we should have known better than to dine in their restaurant. I believe in tipping so our terrible server received a normal tip although he gave disgusting service. This restaurant has great food but does not provide good service and makes other cultures outside of Italians feel unwelcome. I won't be returning to Long Island again. It seems like a racist place to me. I have never received service like that in the 5 boroughs. Management needs to learn to respect everyone and be courteous to all. Terrible service!!! read more
