We visited on a busy (early) Friday night without a reservation because we were told you can't make one for 4 at this place. Surprisingly, one last table was immediately available, so that's good! The rest... not great. First off, we were given food menus, but no drink menu. Our waitress was busy, so after about 10 mins we were able to flag down a busser and ask them if they could kindly hand us a drink menu, which they did even though that's not their job. Another 20 mins go by until our waitress finally showed up to take our orders. Complimentary rolls and olive oil to dip came, which was good. Then, 3 drinks came, the fourth one (a soda, no fancy cocktail) we waited 10 mins for and then had to remind the waitress about it. We were all done with our first round of drinks way before the food came, so ordered another round. Then, the food came. BUT! Not for everyone, only for 2 out of 4. We waited a couple of mins so we could all start at the same time, but after a while decided to just start because the food was getting cold. A whole 15 minutes later, the third person got their food, followed by the fourth person, as the first two people were already done eating. Super awkward. At one point the waitress put a drink on our table with the words "I know you didn't order this, but I can't find the person who did so you get an extra, enjoy!" At first I was happy about that free drink, but a couple mins later she came back and took it away again! Gave it to the table next to us. I guess the look on my face wasn't very happy after being teased like that, so she did end up grabbing me a free drink. The food itself received mixed results. The salad was ok, $16 for green leaves, some beets and some cheese. Dressing was good, but served in plastic to-go containers? Added chicken for an extra $4.50 was good. Brick-oven pizza looked good but tasted like cardboard. I fully expected the bill to be wrong, with all the back and forth with forgotten drinks, extra drinks etc., but it was correct, yay! So disappointed in Carnival in the last few years. They used to be decent but it's like they don't even try anymore. At first I was going to complain that for a $29 pasta dish via DoorDash (Orecchiette di Rabe) their to-go containers don't seal leaving a garlicky soupy mess in the bag and everywhere else and that the packaging should be better. But the second day I had leftovers of the same dish still in the container that won't seal properly, I found a long hair in literally my second to last bite. We had a decent size party on a non busy Sunday night. The food was ok, nothing great - others reported food quality has gone down from recent years. The sause with the chicken carnival isn't as good as it used to be, they used to serve focaccia and now it's just ok bread, and the coffee wasn't good at all. The substandard food was only part of the issue. Service was inconsistent. They asked if we wanted dessert but gave no menus, then gave us one menu for a large table. They were overly quick to grab plates as we were eating, but then disappeared for awhile after we had some of it wrapped. It's unfortunate the place had a good history but seems to have fallen off. The eatery is divided into three sections: Pizzeria, restaurant, private dinning area. The decore is lovely and the tables are not close together. We arrived at around 3:00 PM and as soon as we entered we were seated. While the waiter was courteous and quick to serve, everyone in our party felt rushed. It appeared to the table that the waiter wanted us to eat and leave. Given the time of day and the empty room, there was no reason for this. Notwithstanding this, our meals were excellent. We ordered fried calamari and an octopus dish as appetizers. Both were very tasty. I ordered a personal margherita, it was delicious. Beware, the sauce was made with chunky tomatoes, not the regular pizza marinara. For dessert, I ordered a decaf cappuccino and a slice of chocolate fudge cake. The cake was DELICIOUS, the cappuccino not so much. The Takeaways: 1. Excellent parking 2. Service did not come with a smile. 3. At 3:00 PM on a Thursday, no reservations needed. 4. This weekend we decided to try Carnival restaurant and pizzeria because I had a giftcard there! I am so glad the gift card pushed me to try them because we had an awesome dinner there. When we sat down they gave us an amazing bread basket with warm fresh bread. (There was also a nice assortment in there so it wasn't just your everyday bread basket) I can kind of tell based on a bread basket alone what kind of experience the meal is going to be so I was really excited when it was a good one. We started out with mozz sticks because I heard they had really amazing home made mozz sticks and they lived up to the hype. My husband said they were the best he's ever had. Then we each decided to get a francese dish. He got shrimp and I got chicken. I let the waiter know that I have a shellfish allergy and he made sure they cooked our dishes seperately. With both meals we opted for a side of penne in the francese sauce. I find that I never really know what I'm going to get when I order chicken at a restaurant. Will it be rubbery? Will the sauce be good? (Nothing turns me off to eating at a restaurant faster than if the chicken is rubbery LOL) you all know what I'm talking about! The Food was great, the waitress was very responsive and friendly. When we arrived a serving of tasty rolls and butter were brought to the table. Carnival pizza has been our go to pizza spot for 30+ years. The pizza is pretty good, we usually have a carry out pizza that's always a crowd pleaser. Can't believe the renovations here. This place has quadrupled in size since I was a kid. All for the best. They have a $26.50 dinner option on Mondays and Wednesdays that is a steal. They include so many entree options with pasta fagolia which is a meal in itself, or a huuuge salad, glass of wine, coffee and dessert. Portion sizes are big too. These guys do it right by their patrons that have been coming back year after year. The sauce is light with a rich tomato flavor, pasta is al dente. I was upset they were out of the lasagna which is other worldly at their competition, but wanted to try carnival's, so I'll be back. In the meantime, order from the regular menu the eggplant (skin on) with sauce, no cheese but sublime. Full bar, good service, the son Joe manages and he visits tables and talks up his customers. My husband brought me here for a special dinner, as he had fond memories of this restaurant growing up, but this place obviously has gone majorly downhill in recent years. Service was atrocious. We didn't meet our server for quite some time after barely being acknowledged by the hostess who seated us. That should have been our sign to leave right then and there. I asked our server to bring a drink menu and watched as she sat at the bar chatting with friends for 10+ minutes before receiving it. This went on for the rest of the night as anytime we had an issue, needed anything, or were waiting on a simple request, she was nowhere to be found for long periods of time. My food came out well before my husband's, without a word from the food runner and our waitress did not come over to make sure we got our food or make sure it was acceptable. My manicotti was extremely bland and the marinara sauce was akin to watered-down ragu sauce. At their prices, I was highly disappointed with the quality of the food. Overall, this experience was a huge let down on what was supposed to be a nice night. We will not be back and we can no longer recommend this restaurant to friends and family. read more

We always eat at Carnival and are never disappointed. Yesterday my husband and I got married and had a luncheon there for 25 guests. To a person everyone raved about the food, both quality and taste. Disappointed in Carnival. The quality of the food has continually degraded over the course of the last few years. I am done ordering from them. Whoever is preparing the meals has never eaten decent Italian food. I had the Stracciatella, which was overcooked and upset my stomach. Writing this on behalf of my Mother in Law. She went to dinner there last night with her Senior group for the advertised Pre Fixe Menu. They made reservations, and the table was all set up for them when they arrived. Once they were seated they were told they had too many people and couldn't do the pre fixe menu. They were not told that over the phone when they made the reservation. She ended up spending more than double what she anticipated. She said the chicken parm was too tough to eat and burnt. She didn't eat it. She was very upset by the experience and how poorly a group of 70 and 80 year olds were treated. I felt so bad listening to her tell me about what a bad experience they had there.
