Totally disappointed. Used to love this place. Tonight there were flys all over the table and overhead light. The floor was greasy. We ordered the riceball which came out cold and crusty and we sent it back. Then we order zeppolies to take home and when i open them they had no powdered sugar. WTF. Always liked the food and service until today. Ordered a pie to be delivered they got the order wrong. I thought they would because when I called the person taking my order was talking to everyone else except me. Then when I called back he tried to blame it on me saying it was such a complicated order. I said no mozzarella on one side use ricotta instead. Then he blamed the computer. He told me don't eat the pie they sent he would send someone to pick it up. When they came with the new pie it was overcooked, we were really disappointed. read more

Way overpriced and this place could be called "tiny pizza", because its like they charge too much a skimp out on the ingredients, the counter slices are smaller and stingier than most any pizzaria i've ever been to. This rating is based on the service and not the food. The food was actually really good. The portions were huge. We had to take more than half of the food with us. The service we experienced was terrible form the start. We walked in at 8pm for dinner and the hostess had her back to us. Someone else cane over and seated us. She was young and very sweet. The hostess (I assume) that had her back to us must have been off and eventually made her way to the bar where she sat and talked to the other employees. We sat at our table for at least 20 mins without having anyone come by. The sweet hostess walked by and asked if anyone had come by yet. We said no and then a young man cane by 10 mins later. He looked mad and clearly didn't want to wait on us. My coworker asked if he could recommend a drink option or meal and he said no. We placed a drink order and an appetizer order since we weren't sure if we'd see him again since it took that long in the first place. Our appetizer came 20 mins later, still no drinks but we had water because that guy was on point. We had more attention from him then our waiter. The general manager wanted over to several tables around us and asked about the service and food. He never came to us. We finally got our drinks and our food. The food was great except the soup. The soup (minestrone) my favorite tasted like canned vegetable soup. I had one spoonful and couldn't eat the rest. We asked for boxes for our food and the waiter tossed it on our table and basically through the bag on our table. Our new came with coffee and desert but our waiter was so rude about getting us coffee we decided to just pay and leave. He brought the check quickly which we both found funny. He also grabbed the signed receipt quickly as well. We noticed that the people who received great service were Italian. We felt very uncomfortable the whole time as if we weren't welcome. The staff looked at us as if we should have known better than to dine in their restaurant. I believe in tipping so our terrible server received a normal tip although he gave disgusting service. This restaurant has great food but does not provide good service and makes other cultures outside of Italians feel unwelcome. I won't be returning to Long Island again. It seems like a racist place to me. I have never received service like that in the 5 boroughs. Management needs to learn to respect everyone and be courteous to all. Terrible service!!! read more

I may have only been to Mama Lisa's a few times, however each time I come here I am satisfied with the food and service. Each time I've been here the food and desserts were great. The wait staff at Mama Lisa's are very friendly and cordial as well. The reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in my years, and while I've always been happy with what I get from Mama Lisa's I've also had better Italian at other restaurants too. read more

It's such a shame that this is pretty much the only restaurant we have out here. We have given this place a few tries now and it just seems to be getting worse. The food is just not good. We ordered lasagna in which the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. It was terrible and it was cold, we had to reheat it. We also ordered penne al vodka, which comes with onions and peas and we were pretty excited about that as some places don't add those. Worst penne alvodka I've ever had, the sauce also tasted like it was from a jar. The garlic bruschetta was good but they put parchment paper in between the slices and the cheese was completely stuck to it so half our order was just plain bread. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the delivery was incredibly fast! We ordered at 4:10, our estimated delivery time was 6:30 (it was Mother's Day so we expected a long wait and didn't mind) and our food came at 4:30. Which was also weird because we live about 15 mins away from the restaurant so we knew there was nooo way possible that it was freshly made and it showed because it was horrible. Mama Lisa's is my go-to place in Mastic. Great food, great service. Impeccably clean. The two brothers (owners) know how to run a restaurant. They could give a clinic on TV. Food is great, specials are creative, portions very generous. Try the Cavetelli d'Casa it will be a taste bud explosion. The Cheese Board on the special was amazing. read more

This was always a favorite in the old location. The food was always delicious, the portions extravagant, the service excellent and personal in a very small dining room. It was always full of happy diners served by a small and happy staff. The long awaited move to the elegant new location has been a disappointment. Lots and lots of friendly efficient staff, a real bar, and the food still very good. Small price increases as expected and portions continue to be very generous, the help friendly and attentive. Sadly there has been no attempt at noise abatement. Hard surfaces abound and The Pizza par lor noise "bleeds" added noise into the dining room. Everyone- the diners especially but also all the help- yells back and forth throughout your meal. PERHAPS if there were some attempt to absorb some of the noise/ partition the single large room the shouting would stop. There is a reason why restaurants traditionally separated the bar from the dining room!! The "coffee station" with the noisy machine and the congregation of help is incredibly loud. It is very hard to be a happy diner when you cannot hear you companions. PLEASE everyone -USE YOUR INSIDE VOICE!!!! It's not a street corner in Brooklyn. read more

For a NYC food snob (as my parents call me) to say this place is delicious, is quite a compliment. If this was a zagat rating it would get a 0 for decor, but that's not why people come to Mastic Beach or to Mama Lisa's. It's all about the delicious pizza, huge portions and surprisingly delicious meals - typical Italian fare of pastas, chicken parmigian, francese, etc... So if you find yourself in this neighborhood don't let the strip mall appearance fool you, and head in for some really good Italian food in a very unassuming atmosphere. I attended a birthday party here on Friday 8/15. There were 20 of us. I have not stopped raving about this restaurant. It is without a doubt the best Italian food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I am a pretty tough judge when it comes to restaurants, and I have never given one 5 stars before. The service was impeccable. Attentive and unobtrusive at the same time. Everyone from the hostess to the servers to the bus staff were stellar. The food was delicious. The sauce was thick, well seasoned and tasted like the sauce my grandmother made. We had little pizza squares as an appetizer. They were so yummy. Then fried zucchini and calamari, which I enjoyed. The antipasto salad was like the salad my family makes on holidays. It featured Italian meats and cheeses, fresh mozzarella , and Italian olives. Is was the most authentic antipasto I have seen. The penne pasta course featured perfectly cooked al dente pasta in a delicious pomodoro sauce. My chicken parmigiana was the best I have had. A perfectly cooked breast with real melted mozzarella , not these slices of rubbery cheese other places use. Everyone else was raving about their shrimp scampi or eggplant rollatini entrees. We then had fresh fruit, that amazingly tasted exactly the way it was supposed to...so often fruit has no taste. Then out came canolis and zepoles. The canolis were yummy. Lastly was a birthday cake and cappuccino. I was too stuffed for cake, but I saw everyone scraping their plates for the last bit. I wish I had tried it. The place was crazy busy, and I know why...yet it never felt like you weren't being well taken care of. I highly recommend Mama Lisa and can't wait to go back. read more

Went tonight- Christmas Eve- and WHAT A CIRCUS! Took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get food- asked for a manager at the 1 1/2 hour mark and he never came- our food came- Food was good. We were given 4 Baskets of bread- at least 3 soda refills while we waited but will NOT return on a holiday. Prices were jacked up for the holiday which I did not expect. Kids had a hard time finding an entrée they liked. All of the entrees cost over 20$ . Great for during the week but will not return for holidays. read more
