Bella Mia Fine Dining - Wine Dinner Review…read more It had been a couple of months since we had attended one of Bella Mia Fine Dining's wine dinners, so we were especially fortunate to get a last-minute spot for tonight's event. After attending several of these dinners over the years, we knew we were in for a great evening -- but this particular event exceeded our expectations. As usual, Randy was hard at work when we arrived, orchestrating his staff and making sure the 150+ guests were seated in a timely manner so everyone could begin enjoying the evening's wine and food pairings. The organization and teamwork were impressive, especially considering the number of guests being served. We entered through what will be the future banquet area, which gave us an early preview of the project. From what we could see, it looks like Bella Mia is creating what could become one of the premier banquet spaces in the area. It was exciting to see the final stages of construction taking shape. Once we were seated, everything flowed perfectly. The entire staff worked extremely well together, with each of the six courses beginning with the wine pairing followed immediately by the corresponding food course. We were also happy to see our go-to server, Beth. With the restaurant so busy, she usually had to talk to us on the run. The Six-Course Dinner 1st Course - Caesar Salad Paired with Mohawk Sauvignon Blanc The salad was fresh and crisp, with a tasty Caesar dressing that was nicely balanced. It was topped with a couple of crisp, well-seasoned croutons and fresh-grated Parmesan cheese. The only thing that could have made it even better would have been a couple of anchovies -- although getting anchovies onto 150 plates isn't exactly an easy task! 2nd Course - Italian Stuffed Cubanelle Peppers Paired with Argento Minimalista Malbec The Cubanelle peppers were cooked perfectly al dente and filled with well-seasoned sausage. They were topped with a rich tomato sauce that brought all the flavors together beautifully. 3rd Course - Baked Manicotti Paired with Siglo Rioja Tempranillo The manicotti noodles were incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. They were filled with a delicate cheese blend, covered in a rich red sauce and finished with just the right amount of melted cheese. A classic Italian dish executed very well. 4th Course - Chicken Florentine Paired with Julia James Chardonnay The chicken breast was nicely portioned and lightly seasoned, sitting over a flavorful light broth. It was topped with spinach and lightly browned melted cheese. The combination was flavorful without being overly heavy. 5th Course - Steak Vesuvio Paired with Don Rodolfo Art of the Andes Tannat The medium-rare steak medallion was placed over a slice of skinless baked potato, which sat over a light and flavorful broth. A few sprinkled peas added a nice finishing touch. The steak was cooked exactly as we prefer it and paired extremely well with the Tannat. 6th and Final Course - Tiramisu Paired with Duchessa Lia Moscato d'Asti The perfect way to finish the evening. The sponge cake portion of the tiramisu was moist with a subtle coffee flavor, surrounded by a light and tasty mascarpone cheese and finished with a dusting of cocoa. The Moscato d'Asti was an excellent complement to the dessert. Overall Experience My wife and I have attended several of Bella Mia's wine events over the years, and we can honestly say this was the best one we have experienced. We enjoyed every single course, which actually made it exceptionally difficult to choose a favorite. Each wine pairing complemented its respective course extremely well, and the progression of the meal made for a fantastic dining experience. It's easy to understand why these wine dinners sell out nearly every month. There is an incredible amount of energy and teamwork behind these events, and it seems Randy and his crew are constantly looking for ways to improve and make each dinner better than the last. Bella Mia's wine dinners are held monthly on Mondays, when the restaurant is normally closed. The events are posted on their website, and based on our experience, we highly recommend making your reservation early because they normally sell out. Another outstanding evening at Bella Mia Fine Dining -- and one we were very fortunate to be able to attend at the last minute. We are already looking forward to the next one!

Place is pretty empty with the exception of 1 larger group of adults and a table of children - so a small size party in the back room. We were seated in the back room. More customers started to come in - only a few more tables. The table of children were so unbelievably loud - screaming, and shouting at one another. Then playing on the floor in between tables - continuing to shout. They then decided to run around a group of tables - still shouting. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE said a word to them. Not their parents - nor the management. My husband and I had to leave it was awful. I will NEVER go back. There are many other pizza places through out the South Suburbs. Management could have handled this and chose not to.

This food was unexpectedly delicious…read more It is definitely in the cut, so you might not assume that the food here is good. The service was good. They were attentive and accommodating to me and my friend. The ambiance was nice. It would be a good place to go with friends, family, or a date. The food was great! The calamari was very good. I could tell they seasoned it, which is not typical for calamari in my experience. The carbonara pasta was delicious. I have a hard time finding carbonara pasta in the Chicagoland area, and I was glad that this pasta was delicious and semi authentic. For dessert, the sticky toffee carrot cake is good! You have to love sweets in order to like it though because I could see how it could be overly sweet to some people. The sour cream gelato on top was top tier. I never tasted anything like it before. It was so good that I ordered some scoops separately.

We were staying at a hotel in Alsip for an event and needed a good place to eat. Needless to say,…read morethere was not a good restaurant in Alsip so we had to go to Oak Lawn for Francesca's on 95th! We had a great time, with great service and really good old fashioned Italian food!!! For our appetizer, we had the sausage and peppers. GAME CHANGER!!! Neither of us had eaten this classic Italian appetizer before and Francesca's version was a great introduction to this dish. Surprisingly, it was NOT the sausage that was the star of this presentation - it was the sauce and the peppers. The sauce was part top notch olive oil, part Italian seasonings and it was a wonderfully delicious background to each bite. The peppers (green, red & yellow) were perfectly cooked, luxuriously soft but still with a little crisp to them. Those peppers were perfectly cooked! I do think the sausage, while okay, was not up to the standard of the rest of this dish. For my main, I had the Linguini Alla Caruso - shrimp, garlic, olive oil with a basil-pine nut pesto sauce. It was very good, very good. Be warned though the sauce leans a little to the sour or harsh flavor. Not too bad, I certainly ate it up, but there was certainly a sharp taste every once in a while. My spouse had Dana's Bolognese. He was very happy with it! The overwhelming reaction to our main dishes was "holy crap" that's a lot of food! The dishes were as large as a coffee table and we NEVER could have eaten all that food no matter how long we sat there at dinner. Each dish was big enough to feed both of us and several people at nearby tables!!! But the best part of Francesca's on 95th was the service. Everyone was so friendly, so nice, hard working and willing to take care of our every need. Seriously, the staff worked their butts off and provided some of the best service I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Hats off to everyone from the hostess to the server to the bus people. You all really took care of us that evening. You will NOT walk away from Francesca's hungry! Is the food the best Italian I have ever had? Probably not but it is definitely solid and a great place to enjoy a good meal.
