The food was very cheap. Pizza by the slice ranges from $3-4 and the service was relatively quick. The pizza itself was pretty mediocre. The price was reflective of the quality of the pizza. There are only 2 tables inside with 2 chairs each and there was a really weird smell when you sat down. There was a bunch of flies since they had their door open which made it very unappetizing. The chef(?) was very very nice and helpful. To use card you would need to make a purchase of $7 or more. Personally I would not come back. But I think the rating is fair for the price of the food. This is the third or fourth ownership in this spot since we moved to Bernal in 2003, and I have to say it has the worst pizza. It's not horrible, but it's mediocre... crust way too breadlike and not enough cheese. EDIT: When I placed my order online and waited, I overlooked the possibility that Mama Mia may have been closed to observe the Day Without Immigrants. I drove past the storefront (on my way to pick up a pizza elsewhere) and it was dark - with no signage indicating why they were closed, so I don't know if my assumption is correct. Based on this possibility, I felt like I should include it as an addendum to my original review, because I'm fully sympathetic with and supportive of the Day Without Immigrants, and if Mama Mia was closed because of it, good on them. However, as a business, Mama Mia made no apparent attempt to communicate that, in a break from its usual 7-days-a-week schedule, it would be closed this day. Its website made no mention of a closure, and the ability to make an order was not disabled. In the end, I waited 2+ hours, had my credit card charged, and ended up with nothing. It'll take more time to dispute and reverse the charge with the bank. Because of this, my review stands, and it's doubtful I'll try to patronize Mama Mia again. --------------------------------------------------------- I placed an order online. Over two hours later, nothing. I've called their phone number multiple times, and no one picked up. I ordered knowing that on a hot-as-Hades Monday night, no one would want to cook and Mama Mia would likely be crushed, so I calibrated my expectations accordingly. Still, this location is literally 4-5 blocks from my house. Also, when there's only one point of contact listed on their website, and they don't answer (or even have the courtesy to provide a backup like voicemail in cases when demand is insane, or have a measly email address to contact)... There are too many good pizza joints around here to have to tolerate this kind of garbage. The pizza is good but their service is terrible. I ordered delivery which took an hour to arrive, but I received the wrong pizza. When I called back they said they would send me the correct pizza but I had to return the incorrect pizza. I told them I couldn't do that because I was eating the incorrect pizza because I was hungry and didn't want to wait another hour for the right pizza. They ended up sending me the right pizza much later, rather than give me a refund. But what I don't understand is why they would request me to send back the original pizza? I mean, what could you possibly do with a pizza that was already delivered to someone and would have been sitting there for an hour before the driver came back to replace it with the new pizza? If I was eating in the restaurant maybe I would understand, but this makes me think that they reuse the pizzas they accidentally make incorrectly which is gross. Either that or they just don't want me to get 2 pizzas for the price of one, even if one of the pizzas isn't what I wanted? On top of that, speaking to whoever was on the phone was really difficult because she didn't speak English well. I hate to be that person but she made no effort to accommodate for her lack of English. She frequently spoke over me as I was trying to explain what my problem was, to the point that it took me several tried before she finally stopped trying to guess what my problem was and understood what I was saying to her. This pizza is good! I like how they only charge $1.50 for delivery. They also deliver to Daly City which makes that awesome so I don't have to run the hassle of going all the way over there. The large pizza was huge and for the price it serves a pretty good amount. Pizza was delicious! read more

This new restaurant on Mission is a gem. Stopped in couple weeks ago because we were parked in front. Talked to one of the owners, got delivery menu and are we glad we did!! Food is great !! Have had the chicken garlic pizza, wings, BBQ ribs and the half roasted chicken. All VERY GOOD and arrives to the house piping hot. And both drivers have been really courteous . I called to have a meal sent to my home and the person who they have answer the phone did his best to make me not want to order. He told me it would take "3" hours I only live five mins away then he said "Fine ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO ORDER". The pizza is great, their boneless chicken, not so much, as I took a bite it was quite hard, on top of that, not much flavor very bland. Another reason to why my rating isn't as high is because I once ordered a medium pizza for the price of $15 dollars including a canned soda, for one the person on the phone was pretty hard to understand, while I was ordering I saw that they had an $11 deal for their medium pizza but keep in mind they already put in the $15 order. I asked if it would be possible to cancel the $15 order and change it to the deal, and he didn't even know how to do it. So I said ok it's fine and I left the $15 order, upon checking my bank account to see if I was charged, I saw 2 charges on a 8 slice medium pizza and a can, they charged me for the deal and for the regular price. I understand mistakes happen but I hope they read this and before attempting to put another order in talk to your manager or boss to see how to cancel before putting in both orders. In this town, it seems like every chance to try a new pizza place is a chance to be newly disappointed. The sauce might have come out of a can, if it's lucky; it has no character whatsoever, neither sweet nor spicy nor tangy. The crust tastes like bread, and is neither crisp on the outside nor light on the inside--it's uniformly doughy and mediocre throughout. The cheese is an unbroken glop that coats the pizza, and has no "bite" at all. The overall effect is one of no character; it's hard to imagine a more nondescript dish. Doesn't even measure up to Round Table, the McDonald's of pizza. Sigh. I must keep looking. read more

While the pizza is basic and nothing to write home about, my issue with Mama Mia is fraudulent charging. They charged me $4,044.76 for one cheese pizza (yes - four thousand forty-four and change). They then refunded me $3,996.00 and charged a separate charge of $23.35 (the charge of the original pizza and tip). I called and complained, letting them know I was owed $48.75. A week later they refunded me $24. WTF, Mama Mia! My advice - if you want mediocre pizza. Get it somewhere that doesn't ream you! read more

Ordered wings and mozzarella sticks. Worst wings I've ever eaten. Would have been better off throwing frozen Tysons Buffalo Wings in the microwave for 20 seconds. Mozzarella sticks were atleast stomachable, but nothing better than something you could also have made in your microwave. I've never been inside their restaurant. I usually order from the one on 35 Visitacion Ave in brisbane. I don't know if they're both owned by the same owner(s). Therefore when I ordered online from them here on Mission St., I mistakenly assumed they were the same. In any case, I usually order online from eat24hours.com, grubhub, etc. MM showed up in about 35 minutes. All the food was warm to hot. The pizza crust and topping were fresh and best of all, the pizza was NOT burned. (That's what I HATE about pizzerias closer to me in the outer Mission is they either burn the pizza or give you cold hard stale pizza crusts which is what has made me given up on outer Mission pizzerias.) The garlic fries I think were cut too thin & small but that's a small negative to me. The pizza crust was kind of soggy, but over all, I was satisfied with the quality of the food. The new crew at the Mission location are awesome. We had come to this pizza place under the previous management and the initially good pies died a slow death of bad service and uneven quality. One last chance for this place and an emergency pizza need for a group of hungry 7 year old soccer kids. The new crew at Mama Mia delivered on their promise of four large pies double cut and ready in 20 minutes after my urgent call. The Sunnyside Eagles devoured tasty thin crusts, perfectly cheesed slices and a pepperoni pie that was just right for a Friday night. My faith in our local pizza place is renewed. And if you want wings or a burger, Mama Mia why you so crazy to go to a pizza joint? You silly boys - go to a wings place or burger joint.
