You feel the electric family vibes while you are inside. This restaurant is named Gialina after a family member of the owner. On a Winter stroll on Diamond street in the Glen Park Village there is a neighborhood pizzeria which serves pizza with an egg on top for almost two decades. Inside you will find a menu with pastas such as potato gnocchi and ricotta cheesecake which has pistachios and cherries. I like getting the hot honey like in the hot honey pepperoni pizza. It was so tasty a bit cheesy like some in SF. It has a bit tangy but add the hot honey and it's makes the pizza not too sweet and savory. They also have a variety of wine available. This is a great place to have an intimate neighborhood dinner in the heart of Glen Park Village. TLDR solid 4 star establishment: quality food, good service, good ambiance (although small areas to improve to achieve excellent). Lots of potential and look forward to seeing Gialina get even better over time! Gialina is a solid and much needed add to the glen park neighborhood! It has an elevated vibe without being pretentious and excellent for children/families. (I really appreciated that they actually have high chairs right sized for their tables which is surprisingly rare!) We arrived around 6pm without a reservation and they were fully seated. We put our name on the waitlist and were told 45 mins or less. At about 35 mins into our wait another couple walked up and asked what the name of this restaurant was. That couple was seated before us which I thought was odd considering they dropped by over 30 mins after us. This led to me to think they could probably use some improvement operationally around how they seat tables. Once we were seated, we were greeted immediately and orders taken not long after. They had a small wine and beer selection but I was very happy with my glass of barbera! We selected the meatballs appetizer (forgot to photograph), the hot honey pepperoni pizza, and the prosciutto peach white pizza. It's true what they advertise about the cracker crust, which I found to be a little more crunchy than my personal taste. Both my husband and I said the pizzas were a solid 4 out of 5. We thought they were solid pizzas but nothing particularly unique. The pizzas were decently portioned for us, although we are a petite couple. We each had only half our pizzas and took the rest home. We stopped by here on a Friday as my partner was craving Neapolitan-style pizza, and there happened to be one right around the neighborhood. I've walked by this place many times waiting for the 52 but have never stepped in, went in that day, and wow, was it packed, the ambiance was chatty, great vibes, nice atmosphere, and everyone was enjoying their food. We were seated quickly as a couple was leaving, but if you have to I would suggest making a reservation. We got lucky as we were able to finish up within an hour! Didn't end up getting an appetizer, but the meatballs looked good. We ended up with the Lamb pizza and the margherita pizza. I also grabbed a beer as I enjoyed scruffing that down with a pizza. The food came out quickly, and wow, was it delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed both pizzas as they had their own unique flavors, great service, and great food. A friend found this place because we had another engagement in the neighborhood right after. The place is really only set up for groups of 2 or 4. Since we were a party of 5 they just added a seat at the end which kind of blocked the main aisle. It also meant table space was pretty limited, a lot of shuffling constantly. Everyone seemed friendly but it was pretty windy and we had to ask to close the door because the wind blew right into our table. When one door closes ... a window opens. The food was great. Cute neighborhood spot, but overpriced for what it is. Pies were solid (we split two pizzas and a salad between us two) but light. Even before leaving we joked we'd need a second dinner. We understand the dollar doesn't get you very much in SF in 2026 but definitely left feeling underwhelmed, overcharged, and under fed for what we paid. They have a small parking lot that we heard is typically always full (I have driven past here in the evenings and sometimes can see one spot open but this time I went there were zero spots). I hadn't been to Gialina in 14 years (according to my last review), because they used to not accept reservations, and I refuse to stand around and wait at restaurants. But I recently learned they now take Resy, so I decided to come back. It's as delicious as always, with the added bonus that they've added some truly incredible sides/starters and a phenomenal ricotta cheesecake. What a find . Hiding in plain site this gem in Glen Park. This unsigned building is a clue of the casual elegance of this destination. I had reservations and was seated promptly upon arrival. Even with a large groups of people piling in this place knows how to serve tables quickly , efficiently and every staff person was friendly and helpful. I ordered the meat balls, Burrata , and the Motto pizza Pie. I have to saw the meatballs were delicious and tasty with ample sauce. They are a good appetizer and a reasonable portion for some quick bites. The Burrata was creamy and fresh with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and with mortadella that was quite a refreshing addition to enjoy with the flat bread that is provided . The pizza pie was a thinner type of crust pizzeria , delicious and packed with flavor and was easy to down. The inside casual elegance of the interior, the casual and friendly patrons , and the delights and sweet and attentive staff make this a super find in my book . Hidden gem alert! Gialina Pizzeria in SF is a must-visit for pizza lovers. We stopped by 30 minutes after dinner opening without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to get a table with minimal wait (they said we had one hour before the reserved party comes in and we were down for it) Kudos to the staff for being super accommodating and friendly despite the crowd. The pizza? Absolutely delicious! Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked crust, and unique and fresh toppings. Our little one loved the attention from the owner, who stopped by to say hello - such a nice touch! If you're planning to visit, make sure to book a reservation for next time. We ordered 2 pizzas to go. The vegetarian one I didn't care for. It had pesto, olives, cheese. The tomato based one with mushrooms and sausage was much tastier. Easy five stars, no brainer. Was meeting a friend at Glen Park Bart and they were running hella late so I went over to Gialina's to stay warm and grab a slice (they do not do slices, I had assumed they did). The place was packed but I was fortunate to get a space at one of the 2 counter seats. My friend surprised me by texting to say he'd be able to stay and eat and they saved the second seat for him. I had ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza thinking it'd be more than enough for the two of us, but it was absolutely delicious, I could've ordered one for each of us! One of the perks of sitting at the counter is you can see all the food when it comes out. Everything was plated perfectly and looked like something we'd enjoy. They did not have the pie I wanted saying it was "seasonal". If they don't serve the pie, why is it on the menu? Still I decided to go there anyway with my party of three but I could not reserve a table without giving my credit card in advance! If they don't trust a customer without a credit card, why should I trust them with my credit card? Also, they were not in the least kind over the phone. I tried the potato pizza. It was good but not drive across the city good. The "deviled egg" were okay. It's a bold combination, the fish and egg, but I wasn't a fan. It seemed so low key that we missed its sign but the experience & food. was anything but...Two of us arrived 15 minutes early & waited outside. This gave us a chance to chat with the host. He said that the heirloom tomatoes are very sweet, in season & special so any pie with it would be truly special. Inquiring about the vegetarian options for all of us, he recommended that we substitute mushrooms for the BLT pizza pie, again highlighting the heirloom tomatoes. He was so right! We had Brussel sprouts, Burrata, Caesar Salad and grilled cauliflower to complete the meal. It was filling but with the "I'm stuffed!" feeling. They also a wide selection of brews & spirits. We just moved into the neighborhood and on a quest to check out all the shops/restaurants along Diamond St. Gialina was a little gem we stumbled on one day and decided to call in an order the next day. If you're driving in, there's parking along the side streets. Beet/Arugula salad = A++, has everything I love in a salad - crunch, texture, zest yum. Mushroom pizza = A+, simple but delicious and would order again. We called in maybe 30 mins before they closed and they were quick and kind to take our order and it was ready when we got there 15 minutes later. A cute spot for dining in with a friend. We ordered the Brussel sprouts which was probably some of the best Brussel sprouts I've had. I loved the combination of mint, cilantro and parmasean with the cold salad. Very unique and delicious. The pepperoni pizza had a thin crispy crust and was cut into large slices. The pizzas were good and so was our server. However, our interaction with the hostess left much to be desired. She was quick to dismiss our request to be seated at a table not directly next to the door on a freezing night saying they were fully booked out; an odd thing to say when there were plenty identical tables available that were ultimately filled up by separate groups instead of a large party. It was a small thing but led to an unpleasant experience for our family. This is a great local spot in Glen Park! It's small and cozy and they serve up some great flavors. They squeezed us in on Friday night, and they provided friendly service and yummy pizzas for reasonable prices. The pizza style is on the crustier side, there is a significant crunch to the edge. Burrata app - I'm a sucker for anything burrata and this did not disappoint. Beautiful juicy figs and leafy greens with plenty of flatbread. Mushroom pizza - nice and savory with fresh greens on top. Tried their hot honey pepperoni and amatriciana pies. First time having Italian style pizza..Definitely different from what you'd expect if you've had the American style your whole life. They make unique flavors, but nothing stood out as amazing. The pie felt like eating a cracker with light toppings of a pizza on it with the first bite pulling all the toppings off. Leaving you with just a cracker and tomatoe sauce. Quality and portions sizes felt really over priced for what you get. Needed to find a place to have dinner before walking over to Bird & Beckett for jazz tonight and I'd come across this place on Yelp, so I made us a reservation for 6pm. It's a small spot so I would recommend making reservations if you're planning in advance. We were seated right away and we decided to share the arugula salad and ny pizza. I liked the salad, although I wish there was a bit more salt, pepper and burrata on it, it felt like it was missing a little something. I really enjoyed the pizza, if you're expecting NY style I think you'd be surprised at what comes out but I thought the flavors were perfectly balanced and it was the perfect size to split between us. Over Easy!! We stopped by this pizzeria when we visited one of our friends in the city. It's a very small place but the pizza flavors are huge. Wifey ordered Margherita and I ordered Amatriciana pies but we shared. The Margherita was good and the crust was thin and crunchy. But nothing stood out. But the Amatriciana was something else. Amatriciana included a sunny side up egg which is unique on a pie. But it works. The pizza itself was full of flavors with a slight kick. This kick gets mellowed out by dipping your pie on the egg yolk. The crust was thin and crispy. I will definitely recommend for anyone to try it when you're around this area. Also enjoyed their mushroom pizza with an egg on top :) Even though I went on a Glen park night market evening, they kept the tables and food turning. Service is lovely. Just a quick note that many tables are placed very, very close together. Think, railcar style NYC dining! This did not bother me, as I'm used to dining in dense places. Had very high expectations just based on what I've heard. Was disappointed. Ordered two pies - the atomica and another seasonal pie. Disappointed - nothing stood out. Gialina is a great neighborhood spot for Californian Italian dinner. In search of the best pizza in SF, I've been exploring every restaurant I can. I tried the Atomica pizza, which has been on their menu for over a decade. It sounded great - comes with mushrooms, Calabrian, chilies, mozzarella, and red onion. The pizza was just OK. Unfortunately, the flavor was quite subtle - I was expecting much more punch. The dough itself needed salt, and some slices were nicely browned / bordering burnt (which I love), and others were barely browned at all. What actually saved the day was the brussels sprouts salad, which was unbelievably good, and I would go back just for this. the tiramisu was also solid, but a little too dense from being refrigerated for so long. The perfect tiramisu to me is much more light and airy. All in all, a solid spot I'd go back to. read more

Pizza by the slice was a disappointment My sister and I had been wanting to try the pizza at this place for a while, and last night we finally decided to go before heading to the movies. Unfortunately, the restaurant was packed because of the neighborhood night market. We called ahead and were told there would be a 40-minute wait for a takeout pizza, but they mentioned they had slices available for sale. Since we were short on time, we figured grabbing a few slices would be quicker. I went in and ordered four slices, which ended up costing almost $32 with tip. Back in the car, we were excited to finally try the pizza we'd seen others enjoying--but we were really disappointed. The slices looked nothing like the full pies we'd seen before; instead, they resembled cheap, microwavable pizza. Worse, they had almost no flavor. It's hard to understand why they don't offer slices from their regular pizza pies, which look delicious and seem to be what people actually come for. At nearly the same price or more of one of their pizza pies these slices just didn't live up to the hype or the cost. read more

If there's a quintessential image of a neighborhood pizza place, Gialina would be it. It's located across from the Glen Park BART station and one of my friends in our dinner group convinced the rest of us to come over by saying they had the best pizza crust (crunchy and thin). Four of us came here for Saturday dinner and ordered the broccoli with anchovies and wild arugula with peaches as our starters, the ricotta cavatelli with sugar snap peas as our pasta, the mushroom, corn with bacon and amatriciana with an extra egg as our pizzas and the ricotta cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake as our dessert. Everything was good and the pizza crust did not disappoint (we found ourselves eating every morsel of food that night). Each one of the pizzas had its fan in the group (I personally liked the amatriciana the best). The pasta was not the best (the sugar snap peas were great but it had an odd "chew"). For dessert, the flourless cake hit the spot for me. With tax and tip, this was about $50 - just great value for a casual dinner with family or friends.
