I also like that this place offers free delivery and will deliver anything they carry, including beer and alcohol with proper identification. We were craving pizza and wanted an option that was close enough. Red Sea had great reviews. We called (phone or in-person orders only). The person on the phone was nice and recommended the Pesto and Balboa park veggie as bestsellers for their veggie pizzas. So far so good. Order was ready in time, and service was excellent (hence the 2 stars). However, the pizza was extremely low quality. Probably one of the worst we had. And we have a LOT of pizza. One look, and you could see that the veggies used on the pizza were bottom of the barrel - the tomato was colorless and tasteless, and the onion still had some peel. The dough is usually a star and didn't feel like it was proofed and tasted like cardboard. The cheese was low quality and tasteless. We felt sick after eating the pizza. If you spend $45 for 2 small pizzas, you expect at least an average experience. This was unpleasant and not worth it. Very disappointed. Located in the cuts of San Jose Ave, there's many of ways of getting here; especially if you work or live in the Mission. I work in the E, so walking distance wasn't that far to get here, like a cool 10 min walk. There's a train that passes through the shop which is convenient if you need to head to Balboa Park station or towards Embarcadero. Was able to get my sandwich and drink, and enjoy my meal at the J stop. I went with the BBQ chicken skewer sandwich which the reviews were saying it was GAS. Had to try it. The guy behind the counter was super chill, and had the slappers playing the store. He was fast and friendly to take my order. He went over the different toppings, and breads to choose from for the sandwich. Went with the classic dutch crunch, mayo, pickles, onions, jalapeños, pesto, and some more toppings on it. Took less than 10 min for the sandwich, and had the game on. Total with a drink was like $12 something? First bite, immediately knew that this was the one. It was indeed, GAS. Especially for a corner spot deli. Every bite I took from this was enjoyable, flavorful, fresh, and did not disappoint. It was an amazing sandwich, and will come back and try the rest of the menu. Maybe the Lamb Gyro is next, and so on with the rest of their menu. After finishing the sandwich, it had me wanting to get another one, but at that point; it was my intrusive thoughts speaking even after I was full, and feeling pretty satisfied. The reason I want them to have 5 stars is because they're a neighborhood staple and I'm rooting for small neighborhood stores. The reason I would give them 3.5 stars is because well, it's kinda pricey in there (like, almost double what I'd pay at a larger market--but yes, I know I'm paying for convenience). And recently I had a hankering for falafel sandwich, so I ordered one and expressly asked for them to hold the onion. I got home and bit into a nasty-ass raw white onion slice. O.M.G. This has to be the best pizza I've had in a delivery/take home in a very long time. I usually like a thinner crust but for some reason this crust was magical. It wasn't too thick or too thin (how did y'all do that sorcery?) and somehow middle of the road not too crispy, yet crispy enough. Called in for a pick up order of chicken skewers to take to work. Ordered at around 1:15 and they said they be ready in about 15 minutes. Requested twelve skewers and they kindly offered to warm them up. When I got there, luckily there was no line and I was able to pay quickly. Star was very friendly! Each skewer is $3.75 and comes with a good helping of chicken. They were each individually wrapped and were nice and warm when I brought them to work. Everyone really liked them and they had great flavor and the meat was nice and tender. Definitely can see why it's a fan favorite at Red Sea. This little neighborhood grocery store/pizza place has always piqued my interest just because there's not much going on in this part of San Jose Ave. other than Roxie's a block or so away. I've always kept it in the back of my mind that I would eventually make the effort to try it and it finally happened about six months ago. The first time, I ordered the Red Sea's Favorite, which seemed like it had the right mix of meats and veggies. I think the first thing I noticed is that the crust isn't really thick but it had a good bite to it. In subsequent visits, I've tried Capistrano's Taste, San Jose Delicious, and Glen Park All Meat. Overall, everything I've ordered has been pretty good quality wise, although I wouldn't deem it spectacular. But for a neighborhood joint, its hard to go wrong. read more

My fiancé and I LOVE Red Sea Market and Pizza. We are raving fans. Pre-quarantine/coronavirus, we've been ordering at least 2-3x per month from this place for their delivery pizza. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, we've been trying to choose and support local businesses that we love. As this store doubles as a grocery store/small market, we've been able to tack on cookies, dessert, snacks, and other goods that we can think of -- delivered conveniently right to our front door during this crazy time. We are so grateful for these essential workers continuing to put their live on the line to provide us yummy pizza/other goods. Our personal favorites are the Balboa Park Veggie and San Juan pizzas. We also get the mushroom and pepperoni pizza often. The crazy bread is crazy good. It's like garlic bread but their own twist and in my opinion, 10x better. Thank you so much especially to Ray. Been going here since I was 16. I'm 20 now and ray and Anthony are two hometown heroes. they've been holding this shit down since before I moved here. I recommend going in and getting your food instead of ordering out, but some favorites are the classic Italian sub (not on the menu but just ask), and the lamb gyero, the pizza never fails either. read more

We were craving some pizza and ordered delivery from here for the first time. We wanted to support a local mom and pop shop instead of a place like Domino's or Pizza Hut. I want to give them another try, but I'm not sure yet. The pizza itself was good, but not crave worthy. When I think of pizza I might not think of them automatically, but it was good. They also charged me for a soda that I ordered, but they never delivered it. I called to let them know and the owner, though very nice, said the best they can do is send a free soda of a bigger size the next time we order from them. So I have to buy something more from them again to get a refund for something I bought but never got? Didn't seem fair to me. It's a pandemic and I understand mistakes happen. Love Red Sea! Got a large jalapeño and pineapple pizza and it was so good. Even my Mom loved it and she was initially offended by the idea of pineapple. They have a zesty sauce here, instead of blend red sauce. Since I am sheltering in place and looking for alternatives to shopping at grocery stores, I also picked up ginger ale, seltzer, tortillas, butter, half and half, snacks, Peets ground coffee, etc. More expensive for grocery items than Safeway but you are supporting a great local business run by kind folks and not dealing with crowded supermarkets. And great pizza, plus other menu items for takeout or delivery :) also such an old school SF feel with the mural out front, gotta love it read more
