It was a slow, rainy afternoon and I was craving a deep dish pizza after working out at gym up the street. A sign in front of the cashier says 5% cash discount. The change I receive is $1 short which I prefer not making to a mountain out of mole hill just on GP. Still the transaction was uneasy. My greater disappointment came with the pizza itself. After waiting 15 minutes I receive a cheese stuffed crust pizza with sausage. It's nowhere close to being deep dish. I don't argue or bring it to the servers attention because I don't have time to waste and quite frankly I've never been in this situation. For the record the pizza was okay, kind of runny with just cheese +sausage topping, but certainly not the thick, marinara based seasoning I've had from other pizzerias. I guess next time I'll ask to see a photo of a prepared deep dish pizza where ever I go in the future. read more

My second time trying their pizza. It was much better the first time. We ordered a clam and garlic which I thought tasted the best of the 2. The second pizza was Hawaiian. I didn't like this one because the pineapples were canned of course and the Canadian bacon had the gasoline smoked taste to it. The crust was about 1/2 inch thick in the center, more bread tasting than thin crispy. Hubby thought the pies weren't bad and Jr Yelper preferred the clam and garlic pie of the 2. It was cool until it wasn't... LONG STORY SHORT SALES TAX IS 18.25% HERE! Paid cash the last few times and noticed that the "math wasn't mathing"??... XL pizza @23.15+$3.50/topping= $31.58??ok? The next time 2 XL+ $3.50= $68.00?? So I called and asked what their sales tax was- she told me 10.25%... I figured I don't get the memo about sales tax increasing? ??? And even so, the math still wasn't "mathing"? They also have a sign at the register that clearly states 5% off if you pay cash... For the benefit of the doubt, I double checked and sales tax is still 8.63% in SF- but if you add 10% to that, then- the math is mathing!!! Not sure what percentage that 5% is subtracted from or when, but if they gave me that discount then they're taxing upwards of 20%! At the very least they could warn people that they're charging 18+% (for whatever supposed reason-but they don't). It's the kind of unethical practices that lead to short lived success for a business. read more

I order often from Monza Pizza. The past couple of times the bottom of the pizza was burnt and all that was tasted was the charred crust. All future orders I request that the crust is not burnt. Today I placed an order AGAIN and the crust was burnt. I was unable to enjoy the pizza itself because it was charred. I contacted the owner he stated in order to meet the requirements for cooked meat the result is burnt crust. I have to now part from Monzo Pizza. :-( read more

How could I have never reviewed them?! I love pizza, and this place feeds my love. They have a great lunch special that includes a salad and drink for $11 +tax. The slice is HUGE. I can eat it in two sittings. The crust is crispy and the sauce is rich and just the right amount of garlic. They have an extensive menu with pastas, sandwiches and salads. I've yet to try anything but pizza, but I fully intend on it. They're on a quiet part of Ocean Ave. so it never seems to be too busy, but it seems that they have a good take out customer base. Hello hello! I was bad and I ordered pizza last night - this is my neighborhood pizza place (late night). I remember ordering from this place a while back ago but I forgot to review, sorry... Back then I remember ordering a burger and fries, thinking wow those fries are good LOL I ordered what appeared to be a slice (because it didn't indicate it was a slice just the type of pizza on doordash) for like about $6 (artichoke and tomato) and then some fries $4. It was so well-made you guys! When it arrived in the pizza box it was two slices actually and it looked like a heart (awwwwe) The texture of the crust, the thickness and the taste was really done well. Pre-covid, I always passed by Monza Pizzeria on Ocean Avenue when I would go teach at the Ocean 24 Hour Fitness location. We both picked out a small pizza on the yelp app, and here's what we got: 1. All Meat Pizza 2. Bella Pizza We found parking right in front and pick up was super quick and easy. The All Meat pizza was covered with an adequate amount of pepperoni, meatball and bacon. The Bella pizza had an interesting taste with the combination of the chicken and tomatoes. I felt like both pizzas were lacking in flavor, texture and ingredients. For example, the crust/bread part of the pizza tasted more like cardboard. Also, my pizza was missing the feta cheese AND the cilantro; they put scallions instead... In the end, the pizza did satisfy my initial craving, but I've definitely had better pizza than this. read more

LOVE MONZA! They have it all! Their wide menu selection is great. When I'm ordering for family events I know I can always find a pizza combo that will satisfy everyone! They're super generous with their toppings. My favorite combos are the Portuguese, Prima, and Clara. And the best part is you can get your pizza extra crispy. It makes all the difference! On top of their normal pies, their single slices are MASSIVE for around $8-10 depending on what you want on it. I have not personally gotten their lunch meals, but they look like a steal! What a gem on Ocean Ave! During a run, I noticed that the old/usual pizza place renovated... a couple days later, my partner and I decided to check out the pizza place on Ocean that we've always kinda bookmarked on going to. We get to Monza and learn that it's a totally new shop than the old pizza place. We were greeted by such a friendly worker at the counter. We looked at their menu with a PLETHORA of pizza choices! I'm usually overwhelmed with large menus, but I wasn't at Monza. Everything sounded so delicious, but after 5 minutes of ohh and ahhhing at all the options, we decided on the Fiesta (a classic pizza with many different meats and veggies). Oh. My. God. The pizza was so delicious. I'm so happy we chose the Fiesta (it's kind of our go-to now). The toppings were plenty, the dough had a pleasant, very slightly sweet taste, and it was hot and fresh! We ordered the large, and it fed us for a few meals. I honestly haven't had a better pizza (flavor, convenience, quality, and price)... ever. We love this place so much that we've ordered it at least 3x in the past month. Am I ashamed? Nope. Do I sometimes think about getting a late night Monza pizza while already in bed? Yes. Finally!! As someone who likes MidWest style pizza (Buffalo, home of the chicken wings) I have finally found a pizza I like in California! It's been a decade long search! The crust is not the thin NYC style, it's not the Chicago deep dish style, but it has the right thickness, with a tender crust. The sauce is spot on, and with a little red pepper flakes, it adds just the right spice. I've found by ordering with extra cheese, and extra sauce I could get other pizzas close. With Monza, with this additions, for me, I have a pizza I will truly enjoy each and every bite. Times are tough right now. A little taste of home is what my soul needs, and my tummy enjoys! After getting several pizzas now, I will need to expand and taste the rest of their menu. But needless to say, when I get my pizza craving, it will be a Monza pizza. Poor customer service. Jasmine sounded like she was struggling to take a basic order on the phone, not a good sign! We paid for a Large pepperoni pizza and were told it'd be delivered in 1 to 1/12 hours. An hour and 15 minutes later our order arrived, tipped the driver. Surprise! We received a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza! We called to complain and the manager said: "We are humans, we make mistakes, we make over 1,000 pizzas a day." There was a point in time when we ordered Monza delivery at least once a week! We've since stopped stuffing our faces with pizza, but that's not to say that's been the right decision. It is safe to say my husband and I are pizza snobs. We moved to SF from Oakland, and were unsure how we would replace East bay Zachary's (non Chicago style). We tried a few spots which only lead to disappointment. Enter: MONZA! Monza is definitely different from Zachary's, mostly in the density and it doesn't have the spiciness in the sauce, but omg the crust is SO GOOD.
