I am spreading the word about my experience at Mama Mia restaurant in Mamora, NJ. Below is the review I posted on their website. The Jersey shore really knows how to chase people away. This is another strike against them. My husband and I were regular customers when Mama Mia was located in Seaville. We have been going there since they opened. Since they moved to Mamora, we had two very bad experiences with the hostess. Tonight took the cake. We made reservations a number of days ago and when we arrived the Hostess was seating us at a table against the wall and a table of 6 beside us so the people who were sitting there would have to get up for us to be seated. There were other tables for two available and the hostess would not seat us there because they were reserved. So we had a reservation but I guess we don't count. After all the years of being a Parton to this restaurant, I will never go there again and tell everyone I know of how we were treated. There is no way the table for 2 should be located there because if I am spending over $100.00 for a dinner I would expect to have a nice table not up against a wall and almost up against the table beside us. I have better seating at a McDonalds. Joseph you need to tell your hostess she needs to treat your customers so they might want to return to your restaurant and not chase them away. read more

Have been a long time customer here, with many visits to the old Seaville location, as well as Egg Harbor. Loved the idea when they relocated to Marmora, given its proximity to OC. Have always enjoyed their menu items, especially Sachetti, and anything veal. This past Thursday we ordered takeout, via Slice, with a couple neighbors. For the most, everyone enjoyed their meal, but one stuck out as a real loser. Maybe it was because we picked up at 8pm, closing time, but, thats what we asked when ordering. I've got to say, the "Chicken Cardinale" was about as dry as one could bake it. Would of called to complain, but it was after hours. Will probably return, but never ordering chicken, or using the Slice App. Doesn't get much worse! read more

Authentic Italian food, exceptional service and a very friendly environment! We just returned from a 10 day 4 city tour of Italy. I ate lasagna in Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples. Shortly after we returned we had dinner at Mama Mia's, I ordered lasagna which was as superb if not better than the lasagna I ate in Italy. Also, the portion was twice the size! I could not finish the large portion that Mama Mia's served. When I heated up the leftover lasagna the next day, it was still absolutely delicious. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND MAMA MIA'S! read more

We ate there last night. We were waited on timely. They served bread, which was not fresh with a spicy butter. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was so spicy it was inedible. The appetizers didn't arrive all at the same time. the mamas sunday dinner was a lathe portion of rigatoni. The sauce was tasty , but the meatball was cold inside and very dry. The sausage was also dry and cold They were clearly not freshly made. the waiter informed us that he needed the table for the next reservation but they hadn't yet given us our check. mediocre food with spotty service. , overpriced. read more

Recently visited Mama Mia after previously having a good experience at the restaurant.We requested butter for our bread and were given a package of pre-wrapped patties of butter.The butter tasted off and upon further inspection had green mold on it.When confronted the staff including a manager ,we were told there's no issue with the butter even though there was visible mold on it.We were not offered any apology or anything else. Given that they are willing to serve and defend moldy food to your face,we can't imagine what they're practice's are in the kitchen. DINER BEWARE!We will not be returning. read more

How sad. We order and visit this place so often but recently placed a large order and received an incorrect order. But the issue was the rude customer service when calling to figure out where the rest of our order was. The girl on the phone acted like she could not understand me and then mocked the fact we were missing items. Not returning simply due to absolutely horrible service. well....I really wanted to say I enjoyed my meal but that's a fail....Liked the place better when it was in Seaville. This place is so small I almost panicked, so tight that people breathe all over you and yet they keep crushing people in as fast as they can....even with reservations! Then they rush you out so they can "turn over" the tables quickly....geez, get a bigger place already!! That's just the beginning....we ordered take out because they were running so late on deliveries, ok, so it was Saturday and very busy, I get it. I pick up our order, finally ready, and....oh my! what a mess....the order was correct but the quality was awful...my husbands "Turkey Supreme on Grilled Texas Toast" @ 9.50, fell out of the bread, sloppy sandwich, grilled toast was cold and hard and to top it off, the so-called french fries were the type you get at McDonalds, but so cold and hard that they were thrown into the garbage! (McD's would have been sooo much better!)..Then.... there was MY dinner.....I had had eggplant parm before and liked it then, but this was crap. It was not breaded, it was not firm, it was mush with very little cheese. I couldn't cut it, I had to "spoon" it. It was disgusting so it followed the sandwich into the garbage disposal. My salad had nothing but some spring mix and a few "soft" croutons and my "piece" of bread was stale and flat like someone sat on it....now, what the heck is going on around O.C.N.J.?? Is there no one who can cook? No one who knows food?, anyone who cares or is it just a money grab? "Get those tourists for all we can while we can and who cares if they like it" Trouble is, I LIVE here and I am ashamed of what we offer to our visitors not to mention the locals....Keep it up South Jersey, the folks are catching on!! read more

THIS OUTSTANDING RESTAURANT IS NOT CLOSED. NOT! We consider this a gem in a very unlikely, modest place. The owners are hands-on and make their own pasta. The dishes are varied and stay away from the overly garlicky recipes. It's cuisine, not just food. But you can also just order pizza. The desserts are also wonderful. BYO. Don't be surprised if the owner comes out to chat with you and even bring you dishes of which he's proud. Husband and wife met on the Love Boat. You will not be sorry. Make reservations well in advance. I have reviewed many restaurants in various parts of the U.S. and carry the weight to show for it. I was stunned to see that Yelp said it was closed. Been here many times and the food keeps us coming back. But they have brought back one of the most annoying things that restaurants tried to impose years ago: They put a 3% charge for paying with a credit card. Really? They have raised prices at least 10-15% and now they are charging for credit cards. Just include the cost in the prices. Really insulting. Get rid of it. read more

Extremely disappointed. I waited 1 1/2 hour for delivery only to find half the order missing and the other half incorrect. It was 9 o'clock at night and too late to correct. My spouse had no dinner. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with someone and they didn't care, couldn't hang up quick enough. I'm a local and will never be calling there again. Our family always enjoyed Mama Mia's in Seaville,NJ.The pizza and pasta take outs were a staple and consistently delish. We were happy to see the move to Marmora and the menu is amazing.With the new curbside pick up, we have enjoyed many items. The Jackie pizza and Pasta Mama are favorites. I have been ordering from Mama Mias for years, well before their new restaurant. Tonight was, hands down, the worst food I have ever eaten. The chicken marsala had no taste, they forgot our garlic knots and my husband had to go back and get them. The mama Mia meatballs tasted like they came from Sam's. WHAT A GREAT FIND AT THE SHORE! Authentic, fresh, beautifully served Italian food coupled with terrific service that is attentive, kind, & thorough. The atmosphere is quaint, charming, and seating is limited--so make a reservation--and during high season, I would guess waits are still to be expected. But rest assured--it's worth it!! Bring your own bottle, or buy one from the winery affiliate they have on site. I was looking forward to trying this place for takeout and the wife used their website to order for pickup. She got a message that acknowledged the order, and said 35 - 45 minutes. 10 minutes later, another email said "your order is ready." Whaaaaa? A 15 minute drive guaranteed cold food. Yup. My burger was a coagulated mess of cold burger, cheese, bacon and grease. I mean, the BUN had a layer of grease on top. The Italian platters fared better, but were just warm, sorta room temperature. Salads were out-of-the-bag spring mix with un-toasted white bread croutons. Really??? What a colossal disappointment and waste of money. DO NOT USE THEIR WEBSITE TO ORDER. read more

Just got back from here and ate the Mama's Sunday special. It was fantastic. The Calamari appetizer was the best I have had. People are complaining about the service but folks I come from D.C. and we are not hit as hard as S. Jersey with positions being unable to be filled. The order was cold and items missing when it was finally delivered and the crust was as tough as shoe leather. We called to let them know and asked for a manager and they just hung up on us. So happy to have found this gem of an Italian restaurant just outside of Ocean City! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was delightful. Joe welcomed us with a friendly invitation to sit inside at a quiet corner table. (Still at 25 percent capacity) There was plenty of seating outside as well...it was just a bit of a windy evening, so the inside option was great to have! The meatball and ricotta appetizer accompanied by the complimentary bruschetta let us know that the evening was off to a great start. Then, our homemade Italian meals sealed the deal! If you're a seafood lover, try the seafood pescatore. If you like traditional pasta dishes, the cute little stuffed sachettos did not disappoint. Finally, the manicotti Diana claim of "best manicotti ever" lived up to its claim! One final bonus was the fact that all of our meals were paired with our favorite byob. :) read more

Tried this place for the first time tonight. We ordered a pizza with goat cheese, half pepperoni, and half sausage. Also ordered the arancini, calamari, and grilled chicken Caesar. I'll rate the pizza a 3.5/5, arancini was excellent and is 5/5 and i definitely recommend it, grilled chicken ceasar was fine it wasn't anything special 3/5, and the fried calamari tasted really fishy which normally means that it could be spoiled, so i wouldn't recommend the fried calamari. Mama Mia what a bad restaurant! Let's start with the arrival got there 7:15 for a 730 reservation, table was not ready no big deal we were early anyway way. 8 pm rolls around still not seated, finally get seated slightly after 8. Mama. Mia. After we sat down it took roughly 20 minutes to get water and our wine opened. After the wine was opened we finally saw a waitress about 10 minutes later and quickly jumped at the opportunity to order everything from apps to dinner for fear we wouldn't see anyone for hours more. Mama Mia what service! Apps come and they would have been fine had they been served at an Olive Garden but not quite what I was expecting from an actual restaurant. Mama Mia not a great start. Entrees come out and all lacked flavor though I will say the penne was cooked to a nice al dente unfortunately the sauce was inline with Prego so still not great. All in I would not recommend and will not go back. My one suggestion to the restaurant would be (other than improving the quality of the food) invest in bug spray and citronella candles because outdoor dinners get eaten alive outside. I walked over to the market and bought a candle and bug spray for my families table to keep them at bay. Mama Mia! read more

The prices are reasonable and the wait staff is friendly and professional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for really good Italian meals. I ate dinner here last night with my husband and another couple. The food was good, but after dinner, I saw a tray with lemoncello pass by our table. I asked our waitress if we could also have some lemoncello. She sent the owner's wife to our table. She told us we couldn't have any lemoncello and that it would be up to her husband Joe the owner, but he wasn't there. Joe is a really wonderful host, I'm sure if he were there he would have given us the lemoncello. We had a reservation for nine people for this coming week. We canceled that reservation and told them we would never be back. read more

After eating at the original Mama Mia's in Seaville for many years on a regular basis with my family, the first visit to the new location was awful and very disappointing. We were greeted in a very rude manner by the woman at the hostess stand. Then once seated (in an empty dining room) we requested to order brick oven pizza. We were told only if at least one guest ordered an "entree" from the "regular" menu (all entrees are around $20) . The waitress spoke to us in a very rude manner. Not only is the policy of no pizza in dining room unless ordering an entree policy ridiculous but the staff has absolutely no sense of how to speak to the guests.. want a good pizza with great friendly staff..
