Came here for an early lunch and got some lemongrass chicken banh mi. It was pretty good but the bread was a bit hard. The flavors were still good. I had a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was pretty tasty too. We went to their garden room and it was really cute. Also the service was pretty good, they used a button that you'd press to call the waiter. Really effective.

Good atmosphere and people. Large menu. Yelp menu doesn't have as much as they do. Good selection of Pho, sushi, accoutrements and drinks.

First time having Pho and I loved it! Got here at midnight on a Friday night and was greeted quickly by a nice man. He showed us to the back of the restaurant and seated us. We looked over the menu and pressed the small button on the table. While there were 3 other groups also at the restaurant eating at the time the waiter was fast on his feet to come and take our order. That was done in about 10-15 minutes. We ate and the price was fair. Will return Bathroom is small but clean

A huge fan of Vietnamese food- especially #pho - this small shop is a perfect cozy atmosphere with fresh ingredients and tasty pho. **covid protocol on deck Staff 5/5 extremely polite and willingness to help. Atmosphere 4/5 right in your face intimate and personable. Good for small groups. Or takeout to eat at #Mccarren park on a nice day or bench and people watch. Food 4/5 reason for the 4/5- which there was more variety on the menu, will love to try more. *try the chicken pho with rice noodles - light on the belly A perfect addition of diversity in the community!! Yum Yum approves!!

Don't let the photo fool ya--this was a very generous portion. Pro tips in comments

The bar is low when it comes to getting your order notes correctly when getting delivery but mama pho always meets and exceeds my expectations. I'm one that likes a lot of sprouts, onion, herbs, and plenty of limes in the broth and for dipping the protein in. I don't even like hoisin or hot sauce in my broth so these things are a necessity for me to satisfy my pho fix. Mama...you were my first...and my last (in Williamsburg that is)....hahaha waxing poetic here because after years of trying other pho places in the neighborhood, Mama has always been by far...by FAR...the most authentic in the Williamsburg/GreenPoint areas. Thanks again and happy you are still going strong through this year. Pro tips to yelpers ordering delivery or takeout - Reheating and then adding the broth is DEFINITELY, definitely, required. Still unsure how many people don't do this and then complain or give low ratings but STOP. You can't deliver scalding boiling broth...it'll just explode. Also--pro tip....remove the pho noodles and reheat in microwave//NOT THE BROTH for about 45 seconds. I even give them a quick water rinse to loosen them up first, squishing the water out and then nuking them for said seconds--i know that's not what you wanna do when you get something delivered but it's what you do when you get pho delivered

Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi. The inclusion of liver pâté may not be for everyone.

Mama Pho seems to represent a guided experience to pho; the restaurant chooses to include some things in its dishes that would be side- or optional items at other establishments, with mixed success. What We've Had: 1. Rib-Eye and Beef Ball Pho, with Bone Marrow and Beef Shin: - Positives: The pho broth was among the best we've had, and the noodles were pleasantly springy and chewy. The bone marrow option seemed to augment the broth in an authentic, ungimmicky way -- Mama Pho put the bone marrow right into the soup. (Other restaurants present a huge bone on the soup; good for visual effect, but in practice a cumbersome decoration that gets in the way of eating). - Notes: Mama Pho did include typical condiments such as a wedge of lime, cilantro, jalapeno pepper and basil leaves in the soup, and not on the side as in other restaurants, but perhaps this aided in the deliciousness of the pho broth. The beef shin was tough and didn't match to the dish. I would have preferred additional traditional cuts of meat instead of sliced beef balls. 2. Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi: OK, but the inclusion of liver pâté may not be for everyone. I would have preferred my sandwich without it. 3. Vietnamese Iced Coffee: Pretty good, could use fewer ice cubes and more coffee. Ultimately, while it is worth visiting Mama Pho to experience pho broth done right, the restaurant's use of beef balls in their pho and liver pâté in their chicken sandwiches feel more like cost trimmings than experiments in forward-thinking cuisine. Mama Pho has the potential to offer a much better experience.

They didnt even bring the broth- i asked them to take out Cilantros and scallion cuz i have cilantro allergic but they just put on them Also i told them i didnt get broth on my pho and you guys put on cilantros so i couldnt eat them And they said they will bring extra broth and new pho But i havent got any Awful experience ever

First time ordering take-out from this location. I ordered the beef pho and the pork dumplings. My total came to approximately $19. First of all, to charge approximately $5 for two dumplings is a little ridiculous. They tasted good, but it is hard to justify such a high price for only two, small dumplings. Regarding the pho, it tasted decent. The broth could have had more flavor, but overall it was not bad. I do have a few complaints, however. First, no sauces were provided with the pho. It is standard to at least have some type of hot sauce and hoisin sauce, but both were absent. Second, the meat should have been placed in a separate container, as it was raw and therefor stained some of the noodles with blood. I was not overly concerned with this, as I am no stranger to pho, but I can see how this would cause concern for many people. As this was a delivery order, I believe it was fair of me to expect better. All in all, I think this restaurant could have performed better, but perhaps if you go to the restaurant and eat there, you might have a different experience.

Mama Pho is a small place in Williamsburg on the Bedford Avenue strip. It's right down the block from our recording studio, and we walk over to enjoy these nice bowls of Pho. You can not go wrong ordering anything here. The appetizers are good, and I love the peanut sauce. It has an intimate vibe once you pass the order counter in the front. If you need to get your body right after a hangover, sickness, or feel the cold coming on, this dish will knock it right out of you.

2 ripped dumplings for $5 worst deal on Bedford Ave. Avoid the Pork Steamed Dumplings
    Philip M.

Pho was ok but not great but the real reason for this review is to bring to everyone's attention what may be the worst deal on Bedford Avenue 2 ripped open dumplings for $5 I mean come on that's outrageous. Another reason for this review is the fact the spring rolls were not sealed shut and the wrappers were rock hard. The place wasn't busy at all so there really is no excuse for the poor caliber food. With all the places to eat on Bedford Ave I don't imagine they will be open long there if they don't start concerning themselves with quality control

Came here while up in NY the night. I was strolling the streets staving when I stumbled upon Mama Pho. It was around 8 and eventhough it was too late for me to eat I had skipped dinner because of a late lunch before the drive from MD and found myself famished. I'm a sucker for pho and a fool for banh mi sandwiches! They had both. I went with the banh mi. The young lady who greeted us asked us if we had been there before and since we hadn't she proceeded to tell us what Pho was. Sweet of her. Since I knew and my counterpart did not, I allowed her to continue as I paid close attention and ready to interject if need be lol. Him not knowing took me by surprise and I quickly became excited thinking of future food conquest I had to introduce him to. You guys know how we foodies think lol. Sorry, getting back to the food-- I asked the gentleman about the Banh Mi because it didn't list daikon or fresh jalepeno topping it off but he assured me I would find my jalepenos. We dared the Lemongrass Banh Mi to a bout with our bellies and waited for our order. You guys know I love being inquisitive, so I conversed with the gentleman who took our order and he informed me they had been there for quite some time. He was pleasant and we continued to chat as the sandwiches were being prepared. Wait wasn't too long but not surprising since there was only two other people who came through for orders and one couple dining in on this particular Friday night. Hmmm not busy at all. We took our food to go and continued back to our resting spot. Y'all know we foodies/Elites inspect! Didn't find my daikon or jalepenos and that left me craving spice :-( Don't know if that's a NY Banh Mi thing but if you're looking for spice on your Banh Mi order jalepenos on the side. Check out the pics I'd go back to try the Pho just out of curiosity.

The rib eye is cooking away.

A solid 4 here. I was in Williamsburg trying out some traditional Mediterranean ice cream. And yes, it was cold. But it's never too cold for ice cream. In any case, I was already full from my treat, but knew that I wasn't truly full. So I trekked down to North 7. And yelped my way to this tiny spot. And it is tiny. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. I had the Rib Eye and Beef Meatball Pho. I like the heads up that was mentioned on the menu: the rib eye is raw and literally cooks in the broth. And I witnessed this myself. I was captivated. The rib eye was plentiful and absolutely delicious. Half a star demotion for the beef meatball. It tastes too... fresh for me? I don't know. It didn't taste like it had been well cooked through. But that may just be me. I slurped up that broth though. I could have used a dash more of salt. But again, that's just the future hypertensive in me. The other half star demotion is the fact that when I kept calling for the check, my waitress remained on her phone, even though I was one of maybe 4 people dining in. But she soon came over after multiple calls. So I wasn't particularly bothered. I've told my friends about Mama Pho. They have no choice but to come back with me. As always, happy eating and drinking. MMG

Since we already sat down and were quickly served water, we decided to stay and give it a try, even though as soon as we reviewed the menu we noticed that there was no meat. For reference: we were the only ones there. Occasionally people would peek and pass by, but no one came here to eat. The tofu (designed to taste like meat) still tasted like tofu. I ordered a salad and it was nothing special - something I could easily have made myself. No special design or anything to make it worth what we paid. My bestie ordered some noodles with some "meat-like" tofu and vegetables. Her dish was literally 90% noodles, 5% tofu that tasted like tofu and 5% vegetables. She was really unhappy. As we ate, there was a loud noise - someone listening to a game on a tv in the background and we couldn't enjoy the background music, nor our conversations. There appeared to be one or two people on staff, and no one came around to check on us. We wound up going to the counter to pay, to save on time, and to go get a burger from a spot we noticed one block away. Overall, the food tasted fine, but it didn't match the reviews I had previously seen for here. There was a time when I was on a vegan kick, and that's probably why I saved this place, but even from a vegan's viewpoint, I was extremely disappointed. Happy eats!
