We made a reservation and the restaurant texted that the table was ready before our time. They didn't give the table up despite us not arriving beforehand. The initial impression is that it's small but think it's much bigger since we were seated right at the front by the entrance. We ordered a full spread of appetizers- and our individual meals. All were tasty. Nice service and thorough.

Enjoyed the service and I thought the restaurant's interior design was well done. Ordered a bunch of dishes and thought these were good: summer rolls, steamed rice cakes, fried salt & pepper squid, bun bo hue. These were not as good: banh mi (pork) - bread seemed like it was a little stale and perhaps microwaved because it was more chewy and harder to bite through. Signature pho - soup was ok but seemed a little too light

We visited this restaurant twice during our brief stay in the area. We enjoyed the delicious food, the attentive service, and the vibe. I was pleasantly surprised to see sugarcane shrimp on the menu. I rarely see this appetizer at popular Vietnamese restaurants in Dallas. We liked it a lot. The shrimp paste wrapped around the sugarcane stick was nicely grilled and flavorful. Don't discard the stick. Chew on it a bit to get the sweet juice out. We ordered a few entrees: beef noodle soup, bún bò huế, grilled pork chop rice, and chicken dry noodles. Everything was delicious! The broth of bún bò huế was savory and mildly spicy with a delicate taste of shrimp paste. The beef noodle soup was delicious also. The beef was nice and tender. And the portion size was generous. We also enjoyed the chicken rice noodles and the nicely charred pork chop, garnished with toasty fried shallots and peanuts. The place is beautifully decorated with a delightful ethnic touch. I particulary like the elegant decor of the wine bar. If you like adult beverages, I highly recommend taking a seat there. We enjoyed the overall dining experience, and would come back the next time in the area.

Been meaning to try this place out and finally was able to visit. It's a super cute Vietnamese restaurant that looks small but actually has a lot of space inside for seating. They have a big menu with lots of appetizer and other dish options aside from the noodles. The food was standard, nothing super outstanding but still tasty. The service is great, the servers are very friendly and helpful with ordering, etc.

An elegant spot dressed in green and gold. This place gives off a classy tropical energy. I sat at their bar area, which was very pretty. The servers were extremely friendly. I came here for lunch, and their lunch specials are reasonably priced and offer quite a lot of food. I started with the shrimp and pork egg rolls, which were tasty, crispy and satisfying. My main entrée was Vietnamese pork chops, which was nicely plated over rice, topped with a fried egg, and accompanied by cucumbers and shredded carrots. I was happy with this order as it was absolutely delicious. Their lunch specials also comes with a drink. 5 stars - I really like their decor, service, and food.

Came here on a sunday evening around 8 PM, and waited about 5-10 minutes for a table for 2. It was a pretty large and classy interior. We shared a signature pho and grilled lemongrass chicken vermicelli. Each dish was $20, and the portion sizes were pretty big. I liked the flavors in the pho broth, and the meat was tasty. I also enjoyed the fish sauce in the vermicelli, but the chicken was a bit in the dry side.

Casual but nice spot with a really pretty outdoor seating area! The workers are so friendly and the food is really good. I think the standout for me were the fried spring rolls. Loved the crispy texture, along with the sweet pork and the sour sauce. So so good! The yellow curry was also so good, and I love that you can add some bread to your order to really sop up all the good stuff. I did hear their pho was really good, so maybe I'll try that next time.

The famous Chef Papa. I've been meaning to come around here ever since the place went viral over some random tiktok food reviewer basically stiffed them $200 on service without a good review to show for it. It has come to be a blessing in disguise for this humble spot because this brings in traffic and potential customers wanting to do right by the restaurant at least much better than that shady reviewer did. Backstory aside, seeing this place for the first time, it looks like a small restaurant from the outside but it's a very long spot complete with a backyard for outdoor dining. Service is very attentive and courteous, they do their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible and things like this are noted and appreciated because a good vibe can really make the experience when eating at any establishment. For lunch I ordered the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken w/ Rice and the Porkchop Banh Mi. The Lemongrass Chicken with rice was made very well and tasted delightful. The Banh Mi sandwich also made for a solid appetizer. You definitely get a good money's worth for your meal because it definitely filled me up so one of the entrees is good enough if you're eating solo. It was a pleasant experience down to the delicious food and the above & beyond service of the waiters to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible.

I followed recommendations and ordered the chicken pho. I was expecting something simple and plain, but was pleasantly surprised--it was delicious without being greasy and felt great on my stomach. The chicken portion was generous compared to other places I've tried. I added the bone marrow, which was quite large, though it was maybe a bit greasier than I would have liked; still, it was good. The waitstaff were kind and attentive, with different people frequently checking on me and refilling my water. The restaurant has a modern and elegant atmosphere, making it a great choice for any occasion.

Came in on a Saturday night and was able to get seated right away, though they were getting busy. The restaurant itself felt very cozy and the decorations were a nice touch. I was told they have the best Thai Iced Tea, and it did not disappoint. Very creamy and rich in flavor. What was disappointing was ordering a summer roll and finding out it's actually one piece divided into 4 small bites. I would have expected there to be at least 3 full size summer rolls for the price you pay. We also ordered the salt and pepper squid, beef pho, chicken pho, pork chop pho and Bun Reiu. The pho broth was so flavorful, I didn't need to add any hoisin sauce (which I usually do). Their cocktail, Sunset in Saigon, was nice and citrusy. Would overall come back and try out their other phos and cocktails.

Chef Papa Vietnamese Kitchen has two locations: one on 162nd St in Flushing and one on Crescent St in Long Island City, NY. I made a reservation for the Long Island City location through OpenTable for a Table for 3 on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 6:45 pm. Unfortunately, one of my friends was running late. The hostess was very friendly and informed us that the whole party needed to be here before getting seated and it'll be no problem. There is a small waiting space with seating. My friend arrived around 7:00 pm and I let the hostess know our whole party was here. She said she'll ask her manager if she can open the mezzanine. She then came back momentarily and walked us up to the mezzanine. The mezzanine overlooks the main dining area. Chris was our server and he was very friendly. The menu offers many great options. I ordered the Lunar Lychee ($19.00), Signature Pho ($20.00), and we shared the Cajun Fries. The Lunar Lychee was tasty. The Signature Pho has beef pho broth with rare eye round beef, brisket, and beef ball. The broth was very aromatic and a bit sweet compared to other broths I've had. The different types of beef and the noodles were very good. It was perfect for a cold day and a really good portion. The fries were crispy. My friends ordered the Dragon-Fruit Mojito, Regular Pho, and Signature Pho. Chef Papa Vietnamese Kitchen is a great place for great food, drinks, and service.

    Grilled Pork Chop Banh Mi

So good!! I have to admit, I've gotten this place a few times via pick up and was always not super thrilled with it. I decided to give it another shot and dine in, and it was 100% worth it. To start, the space is gorgeous. It's designed super well and it even has a nice outdoor spot for when the weather warms up. Service was quick and friendly. The food was very good. It's hard to find great Vietnamese in NYC, so I was extremely pleasantly surprised. The Cha Gio was great, and it even came with four pieces. The pho was good, nothing outrageous but very solid. The banh mi though blew me away. The meat and veggies were good, but the bread was stellar. It tasted like it came out of the oven this morning, perfectly light and fluffy with a great crust on it. Definitely a stand out banh mi in the city. it is definitely on the pricier side, but with the location and the upscale vibe, that was to be expected. And honestly, the food was really good so I'm already looking forward to the next visit and trying more dishes!!

We started with the chicken wings, which were crispy and crunchy on the outside while still juicy inside. They were tossed in a sweet and salty tamarind sauce and topped with scallions, with a subtle little kick that added the perfect amount of heat. The salt and pepper squid was also amazing. It was incredibly crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced between sweet and salty, with sautéed peppers that added even more flavor and texture. For my main, I had the UES Pho, which came with a huge beef rib. The beef was incredibly tender and had this wonderful smoky flavor. The noodles were perfectly al dente, and the broth had a beautiful richness with a smoky depth that I absolutely loved. The portions were generous, too. We also had the shaken beef, which was tender, flavorful, and served with sautéed peppers and tomatoes. Everything we ordered was delicious and clearly made with a lot of care. Between the food, generous portions, and fantastic service, LyLy Vietnamese Cookhouse definitely deserves 5 stars. I'd absolutely come back!

You have to go in person to join the waitlist, and the staff will not seat you unless your full party is there. It is always fun going on the weekend because they have specialty menu items. The food is consistently tasty and served very quickly. A few highlights include: - Banh Chung | Crispy Rice Cake: A solid starter to share among two to four people. The texture is chewy with a light crispiness on the outside. There is also a vegetarian option. - Vegetarian Curry: A savory yellow curry made with a coconut milk base. Really appreciate the variety of seasonal vegetables included. - Bun Ca Hai Phong | Fried Fish and Tomato Noodle Soup: Highly recommend getting this during the weekend! A nice alternative to the typical meat-based dishes. The tilapia is lightly fried, so the tomato broth does not become overly heavy, and the dill helps cut through any extra oil to balance out the flavors. - The beef noodle soups are also very good, but are more classic options. Joju specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine, serving meals like bahn mi, loaded fries, and rice meals. The menu recently added soy garlic wings, and since I am a fiend for Asian-style fried chicken, I of course had to have it. While all of the beverages looked tempting, especially their non-alcoholic soju refreshers, I needed caffeine to offset the afternoon slump that was about to follow, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. The wings were huge! It was notably crunchy, saucy, and juicy. There was a decent skin to meat ratio, (I so hate biting into a mouthful of breading), and the meal came out piping hot. It was clear the chicken had been fried per order. Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I hope it is here to stay, and I hope that a shop like this is a catalyst for other quick Asian food stops to follow. Korean and Filipino restaurants - I'll be waiting!
