Wanted something different tonight and found Mamajuana. This place is festive and welcoming. Our waiter recommended the sangria. I normally don't order that because honestly it is usually served watered down. This sangria had oranges, apples, cherries and strawberries, it was refreshing and absolutely delicious. I would honestly say that you should visit here just for the sangria alone. After the sangria it only got better. We have the chimi sliders for an apps - we'll make son order s them for himself but they were so good that we may have forced him to share. I had the octopus salad, loved it. My husband had the charrasco and loved it the mamajuana burger was devoured before I realized it and the crispy chicken was also a hit All in all this place delivered on every level. read more

I live right down the street from here so one day a friend and I wanted to check it out. I wasn't disappointed but I probably wouldn't come back too often. We both ordered the Mofongo and I found it to be dry and kind of tough which was a turn off but the margaritas tasted good and the owner came at the end with a shot of a house alcohol that was so good, I would of came back just for that. I would suggest trying it out, it could be better and maybe it just doesn't tickle my fancy but it might complete you. LOL read more

Soo good!! Today I was craving sancocho because it's cold and rainy. I found this restaurant on DoorDash and was so excited because I thought sancocho would be hard to find around me. I have come here a few times to pick up mofongo as take out. I ordered today and woman who took my order (which I believe was owner) Told me food would be ready in 30 minutes. I get there in 40 and I tell front desk girl I am picking up mofongo and she stares at me as if I have 10 heads, asks if I called and asks for my complete order. She heads to the back and comes out to tell me "whoever you put order with left and I just got here. They never put order in". I end up ordering a plate of food which was about $12 of carne de rez with white rice and beans. She emphasized it was a big order. I get food and it was equivalent to what I could get at any other spot in providence as a $6 plate. She left my food on bar and didn't even hand to me, never mind apologized for inconvenience. We stopped here for linch. The place was empty. The menu had some good selections. We simply order a plain hamburger with fries and a Mamajuana burger with fries and 2 water. The Mamajuana burger has a thin piece of chicken breast on top of the burger. Good amount of spices on the burgers The meal did take a while to get. Another large party of people came in that knew the owner. They got their meal a lot faster then we did. The burger was $5 and the Mamajuana burger was $8. I asked if the fries came with the burgers. He said they did come with the burger. I thought this was a great price. Well when the bill came it was $27 dollars. The frIes were extra and so were the waters. Someone recommended this place so i dropped in and ordered steak and onions with yellow rice on a Friday night. They were out of yellow rice so got white. Menu says dish comes with pigeon peas but I received water down red beans on the side instead.. Steak was thin and dry as hell. Friend had shrimp mofungo and that was dry and missing some seasoning. I have been twice. The first time I was not super impressed about I went back because the presentation is always on point. The burger in between the tostoness(?) was too over cooked. The churrasco and mofongo were excellent and the vibe was like a party. However, the amount we were charged was about $10 higher than what was on the menu. They also added on gratuity and a service fee (about $15 extra total) that was uncommon but makes sense. So we were charged an extra $25 or so... Small businesses have it hard right now and I get it so I didn't say anything, but it would be good to tell customers that those fees would be added in advance. read more

My daughter and I were actually on our way to another restaurant for a late lunch but were so intrigued by the look and name of this one - at first glance we thought it said "Marijuana" ;) - we stopped to take a look. The outside is so dark and nondescript we thought it was closed, but the sign said "Open", and the 3 Yelp reviews looked good, so we went in... And I'm so glad we did! What a find! We ordered the Chimi Tostones Sliders and the Mofongo e Pollo. I can't say enough about how delicious these dishes were. And I can't wait to introduce the rest of my family to this place! One star off because the ambiance inside is very plain, the music was a bit too loud for my taste, and the walls are adorned with 4 large screen TVs, one of which was showing a violent (but interesting) sci-fi movie with the volume turned off. We were a small group and I almost didn't notice that they already included generosity in the bill and I almost added again.
